I'm Outraged

I was recently approached by a general football forum, they we're trying to establish a link with fan sites such as ours (most likely to aid their growth at the cost of ours). I've been monitoring the site, as I was actually considering joining. Yet I've noticed some very iffy things, such as discrediting a skin author which in it's own sense is pretty lame of them.

I stumbled across a Bury thread.

A Juventus fan who posts under 'Arturo Vidal' said "Notts County fans singing "It's Just like watching Juve" best fans in england hands down!"

These seems to spark up some petty remarks, very common on general football forums.

Then a Forest fan posts; "I see Notts County as a friendly little local club with a spasticated fan base. I like to see them do well, but due to their fans' recent retardness since the Munto disaster it's always funny to laugh at their failings. We're going to sign David Beckham, they said. We're going to sign Roberto Carlos, they said. Sven will take us to the Premier League, they said. Munto Finance don't even have a single penny to their name, they never said.

You're right I probably do give a **** about them. But in a good way. As a club I like to see them do well. But then it's always funny to see them fail. Their love-in with Juve is ridiculous. You don't see Forest fans wanking constantly over the fact we provided Arsenal with their first ever kits, or the fact that the founder of AC Milan was a Forest fan. The way they worshipped Lee Hughes was ridiculous too.

Overall, good little club and it's nice when they do well, but at the same time it's funny to see them fail because of their retarded fan base
"

These types of comments are totally unaccepted on any site, I find it beyond belief. He see's us a friendly little local club? That's good coming from a team who's only real success emulates their arch rivals (who I hate to say it are a much bigger club than them). Hence why they can get beat by 10 men! (Didn't you manage it by 9 also @super_ram?)

Now, why do the majority of teams name Forest as one of their most hated teams? It can't be because they're such a big friendly club, with the most loyalist fans who are certainly no example?

One of the worst things is the fact, he's mocking Munto!! At least we manage a major signing without the riches of false promises, they've got a broken camel and a chairman who is clueless when it comes to football. I seriously don't think they can talk, as most of my friends who support forest said very similar things when they got took over and who did they sign? Andy 'chub chub' Reid.

"As a club I like to see them do well. But it's always funny to see them fail" <-- Undermining himself yet again.

He's right regarding Arsenal, yet it's uninteresting because it was very common for sides to loan out their shirts or donate them to smaller teams. We do however, see Forest fans walking around wearing *loody MANCHESTER UNITED clothing and cheap forest cap (or something minimal).

Love how he repeats his ending! At least we're not a bunch of thugs and mindless goons.

Sorry, It just annoyed me that the idiot uses offensive words. I wanted to post it, yet I didn't want to give him or that poor site the time of day,

Hi Joe, I get a lot of people contact me asking for links to various sites and promising reciprocal links but in truth they just want to link to a successful site to boost their ranking in google. As you say in this case it would aid their growth at our cost. I doesn't sound a very pleasant site to have links to I would stear well clear, what we are building here is a great family community and long may it continue.

I wouldn't give the F***st fan the pleasure of responding to his post, it's not worth it, take the moral high ground mate and ignore it.

I'll second that , Tony.

As a Rams fan who spent all his working life in Nottingham you could say I attracted a certain amount of attention from rival fans. I'm pleased to say that most of this attention was good humoured and well within the bounds of decency and I used to look forward to the  sparring banter-much the same as on this site.Unfortunately I have come across a few idiots who just seem to look for arguments ,are foul mouthed and vindictive. These types make it obvious with their comments that they aren't real football fans and always come out of the woodwork when the team they 'support' is doing well or your team has suffered a defeat.

So just take Tony's advice , Joe

I've had my moan.

I wouldn't give him the time of day, if I had responded it would be helping them and that is the last thing I'd want to do. I post on two general forums, they equally drive me nuts but they have a good crowd. I haven't come across such drivel on a site which claims to be 'heavily moderated' and suited for 12+, I consider it lucky I didn't join.

The worrying thing is, I believe the posters in his mid 30's.

Lucky escape :P

He's right  - F*rest dont bang on about helpign Arsenal start up, but they dont half bang on about their history! Crikey they're worse than Liverpool fans for that. Seriously everytime I see any fans from any club arguing with red rags on any forum or social networking site, they always end up coming out with the old "how many European cups have you won?" chesnut! Excellent, they won two European Cups and to be honest I have a lot of respect for that era in their history. I'm a great admirer of Brian Clough. They had good times, well done give them a buscuit. But do they accept that they're no longer at those lofty heights? No, they bang on about it and some of them seem to think they have some sort of divine right to be in the premier league just because of what they did 40 years ago! God it dont half set me off haha.

Posters like that are the reason I stay away from "banter" groups and football league forums to be honest. You cant have a discussion without one individual or a whole group of fans making things personal and sending messages of abuse. There's no need for it at all. It's just football, and as much as some people say otherwise - it is just a game. Is there any need at all to send threats or abuse other people just because they support a football team from the same city but isn't the same one as you? No! If anything, I've always found the rivalry between Notts County and Forest to be one of the more friendly ones. Yeah there are a few morons who try to take things to the next level but on the whole the two sets of fans get on. Ofcourse, we all have our little bit of banter and laugh from time to time but nothing worse than that. It's not like the Old Firm games, or the North East rivalries for example.

At the end of the day though, people who go out of their way to post things like that looking to provoke a response are not worth your time or effort to reply to. Every club has a few morons, Notts included.

Great post Weymouth you said exactly what I think a lot better than I could.

Yes, it's one thing teasing or joking(as on here)and completely different when it becomes personal and abusive(on most other sites-Derby ones included)

I wouldn't of bothered replying to it either, its not worth the hassle or your time.

It sounds like they have a few outspoken fans that don't really know what they are talking about.

Glad you steered clear of the site.

For sure, It's a good thing I have a policy when it comes to joining sites. A good snoop around, which in this case was a search on how league one teams would be received.

Which is far from impressive, though most topics had foul language inside.

Have to say there is only one decent forum for all teams that I am a member of and thats the Southern League Forum. it's not exacly buisy, only a couple of hundred members but there are fans from every team and generally everyone gets on quite well. I think the further down the football pyramid you go, the less bitterness you find to rival teams. I mean Weymouth's main rivals are Dorchester Town but its usually friendly banter between the two. The only team I've seen real hatred between fans was when we played Frome Town.

I dont want to sound big headed when I say Weymouth are a very big fish in a small pond in the southern league, so everyone wants to beat us. Most clubs will take maybe 20 fans away on average, wheras we'll take closer to, and sometimes over 100 depending in distance. We played Frome on boxing day 2011 at their place. They're a small club, with an average gate of barely 150. We must have taken around 200 up there that day ourselves. Their "ultras" didnt take too kindly to their bar being taken over by visiting fans, nor did they take too kindly to away fans standing on "their" terrace. It did kick off, there were a few scuffles, and it happened again when they came down here.

Thankfully, that dosent happen too often. Although I think forums with people who post things like what Joe quoted stir the pot a bit
