Not many youngsters will remember Ray Wilson who died today, he was a member of the England team who won the World Cup in 1966.

He came from Shirebrook and his other claim to fame is that he used to live a few doors down from my Aunty Sally and as a boy used to visit her house often.

I really don't mean to sound disrespectful but I honestly don't recall reading or hearing about him, I was actually very shocked to learn about him being part of the World Cup squad.

Very saddening to think this.

Rest in Peace Ray Wilson
