UK Seaside Locations

So where is everybody's favourite UK seaside locations?

I'm the biggest fan of Blackpool, I think it's gone massively downhill and I think it's very chavy these days. I like Skegness and the surrounding areas, I've always wanted to go to Cornwall but I am curious if anyone recommends other UK seaside locations.

Has anyone been to Scarborough?

North Yorkshire is fantastic, Whitby, Scarborough and Filey are all nice places to visit and perfect for kids. Theres so much to do up there including the North Yorkshire Moors Railway which is a fun thing to do with a family. Padstow down south is also very goodΒ and although I have never been Brighton is meant to be lovely too.

I love the North Yorkshire coast, Scarborough, Whitby, Bridlington. It’s a case of horses for courses really, if you’ve got kids then places like Skeggy, Blackpool and other commercialised places are great but for me being retired I like places like more genteel places like Hunstanton in Norfolk, I absolutely love the Isle of Wight and Portsmouth and Southsea for the historical navy dockyards etc.

Cornwall is good but not in high season as it gets very crowded.

I always used to enjoy Whitby, Scarborough and Bridlington, although I haven't been in a long time. Would love to go to Whitby again.

I went to Brighton last year, it's an interesting place but the beach isn't anything to write home about. I always used to love the south-west, particularly north Devon - Lynton and the surrounding area.

As most have said, Bridlington, scarbrough and Whitby are lovely.

I do enjoy taking the kids to Lincolnshire coast though. Kids have grown up on memories from all the places along there. Sutton on Sea through to Skegness and Boston.

Horses for courses.

@ChrisΒ I think you missed a word out of your first statement re Blackpool. β€œI’m the biggest fan of Blackpool” then go onto say it’s gone downhill and is chavvy!

Missing word aside mate, I agree totally. We took the kids last year and it was the first time I’ve been back in about fifteen years and boy was I disappointed. Really run down and that’s the front. Used to be go back three streets to find the issues. Now they’re slap bang in plain sight.

Got to be honest, people take the mick out of Skeg, but it’s faired well compared to β€˜pool.

Regarding the Lincolnshire coast, I would prefer Mablethorpe or Sutton on Sea to Skeggy, I have lovely memories ofΒ childhood holidays inΒ Mablethorpe

You guys need to get youreselves down to Bournemouth, 8 miles of the best beaches our country has to offer.Β

I'm not the biggest fan of Weymouth as its too busy and very small.

Can't say i like the cold stoney shite the North has to offer if I'm being honest

Oh yes fish and chips in Whitby, loverly, but don’t try walking up the steps after a belly full of chips, you won’t make it to the top.Β :joker:
