Notts County Vs Rotherham United

Hopefully we will see a more relaxed game, though it would be nice for the same principles applied at Anfield. I don't agree that there's now expectations, least not in the same context that some media sources have been mentioning at least. The ability to score and create chances are there, we just need to make it happy and to make sure that we attack games. It's easy when you think about it, the only way to take pressure off, is to attack well.

I'm not going to say we'll walk Rotherham over, they've been doing okay and anyone who attended last season's cup game will tell you they know how to punish us.

The difference this year is the fact we have Bart available to call upon, a keeper can make the defense feel so much calmer and this isn't aimed at a dig to Liam Mitchell who's moved onto life at the stags.

We need to find some form some sort of consistency and although I agree we should be beating teams like the millers, this doesn't mean we have the divine right

I won't at the game, I'm sort of gutted but it's time for me to have a seaside trip with my family. I think @super_ram deserves to relax a little also.

Personally I think we will create more chances but I really don't know if we will win, I really hope so but I feel a draw might happen.

Your thoughts?

I'm looking forward to this game, it seems ages since I went to a game. I hope we can relax after the Liverpool game, hopefully we might have one or two back from injury but if not and we put in the work we did against Liverpool then we can win, the only thing I am worried about is if we get the "after the Lord Mayor's show" effect and the players won't be so motivated for this game as they were for Liverpool.

It looked like they were absolutely drained after Tuesday nights game so lets hope they have fully recovered and can go out there and get those 3 points.

I'd like to think the team spirit shown on Tuesday will help lift the side to a win. Hopefully if we have some players back from injury we can go back to a 4 4 2 formation. Enda Stevens was a good loan signing to cover Sheehan. If Leacock is fit I would play him with Smith and move Liddle up.

Yes I agree with that, I think Smith deserves his place but you can't leave Leacock or Liddle out so move Liddle back to midfield which is what we bought him for, if he's as good a midfielder as a defender then I will be well pleased.

I just hope that the crowd get beind the team the way they did on Tuesday night. They didnt stop singing and the fighting spirit of the fans rubbed off on the players.

As for the game itself on Saturday, I can see a pretty scrapy game. We played 120 minutes on Tuesday, while Rotherham also played premeirship opposition but have had a day less preperation.

Let's get behind the lads from start to finish and get those first 3 points. We can do it, believe! COYP

im not going to rise my expectations, i will just hope we play smart and sensible football.

we have the quality and players can work together, it will take time to see the finished product and i hope we dont sack ck any time soon. think we need a bit of stability and along with hard work it should see us through.

they have a good squad, very team orientated.

I hope we win and I am sure dad will keep us aware of the score. :)

I hope we win this game as we played better on tuesday, so i hope we can carry on playing at that level or better and not fall back into relaxing and not playing to our potential. I will hear about the score on holiday but no doubt be kept upto date with the game by notts-joe.

Millers fan here;

Looking forward to coming down to ML again, always a nice away trip, should be plenty of us too, 1500+ at the last count. A repeat of last season would be nice but unlikely. We will give you a game though & won't be pushovers just because we're newly promoted.

Oh for sure - Nobody can really write anyone off to be fair. You see some big boys thinking they can and sometimes they end up being punished.

I think you guys will have a good chance.

Notts need to see a vast improvement at home, dwindling crowds isn't going to lift spirits and unless something gives it's going to be difficult but I do believe once we start obtaining points we will be fine. It's been an unlucky start for us and I just hope the games good/entertaining. If the ref ends up being bad!! At least I won't have to witness it ;)

Good Luck on Saturday :)

It's going to be a battle from start to finish. The Millers are no mugs. 2-1 to us I reckon. Winner coming in the last 10 minutes. JCR and Arquin.

Won't forget the last league meeting at home to Rotherham for a long time - that tense afternoon where there was absolutely nothing in it until Luke Rodgers popped up and won it for us in injury time. Defeat was cruel on the Millers that day but that was the day I really started to think we would go up. For much of that season I had been thinking play-offs but that win gave us some breathing space. The rest as they say, is history. What a season....

Hello all,

I'm hoping for a much improved performance tomorrow, even if we don't win.  We really need to start picking up some points though to get the fans excited at home.

On another subject, Joe has kindly sorted out for us to use the chatroom tomorrow as the one we have been using isn't working and I can't get hold of the admin.

The blue icon next to the 'chat' box at the bottom, is, I believe how you get into the chatroom, feel free to edit my post Joe if I've got that wrong!

I've put messages onto all the other sites and I hope more people will register so that we know who is who and don't have 20 odd 'guests'!

Again, many thanks Joe.

Hi Elaine

Thanks for hosting the chat room, I hope you get a few in there, I'll be at the match so won't be in.  I noticed you put it on the mailling list, we might get a few more members on this great forum, so cheers.

By the way you have blown your anomynity, you aren't anonypie anymore. :joker:

Well that didn't exactly go to plan did it?  I didn't understand the lineup after Tuesday.  Didn't we all see what Liddle can do getting forward?  Especially in the build up to the coombes goal.  Two shots on target.  Fans booing, 5 games in.  And what had smith done wrong?

Of course, it's early days, and you never know if it will suddenly 'click', but I'm hoping we are looking to get another midfielder in now zokes has gone from the wage bill.  However, with the attendances being so bad, will RT want to use the money to cut the losses?  Catch 22, if performances don't pick up less fans will attend and our midfield is too light.  He must be able to see that.  So does he let ck bring someone in so performances will improve, or close the chequebook because fans aren't attending, even though he knows why?  I hope it's the former.

On a more positive note the chatroom was a great success.  We had around 20 in and most had signed up to this site.  It's very user friendly too once you get used to it.  Hope more will come in, i'll keep bumping the thread on MAD for people who don't come on here, and perhaps this site, which is excellent will become more popular.

Great job Joe and nice to see you in the chatroom

I can't really say anything with me knowing very little with regards to the facts. Sounds like we didn't do that well or create anything, disappointed to be second from bottom and not for very long when coventry win.

PS. I couldn't miss it anony, hope you and everyone had fun chatting.

Can CK really keep his job after that performance?! Where was the fighting spirit shown at Anfield?! We never looked liked scoring and there were a lot of players not pulling their weight today. Three league home defeats in a row, support dwindling and not surprising as the fans aren't getting value for money with performances like that. CK was devoid of ideas to get the team inspired today. Playing one up front at home is a very negative tactic.

Posted

Well I'm not panicking yet but I am beggining to get a bit concerned. 3 straight home defeats in such fashion is totally unacceptable. It's easy to blame the manager and his tactics but players need to take most of the responsibility. Last season the home form was quite poor and there are absolutely no signs of improvement this term. They all seem very good at talking up a good game in the week but when it comes to producing on the day, the cant do it!

But what can we do? Naturally, everyone will say sack the manager. Well then who do we bring in? Who can we afford? Who would want to come to the club?
And what would happen when we bring in a new manager? I'll tell you: we'll enjoy the so called honeymoon period, then sack him once the going gets tough and start the cycle all over again. We can't keep doing that.

I for one am not calling for Chris Kiwomya's head just yet but I'm far from convinced by him. Then again, the knives are already sharpenedfor him. It's a similar situation to that which Keith Curle found himself in. Nobody wanted him in the first place, so people are just waiting for something to jump on his back over.

I suppose the only saving grace is we have a fortnight to re-group now and get some injured players back.

Its just so dissapointing. We had a perfect oppurtunity to kick start our season today on the back of the incredible spirit shown by both the players and the supporters at Liverpool on Tuesday night and we fail dismally.

Ugh, why do we put ourselves through it eh?

I feel sorry for CK because he's a genuinely nice guy. However when KC was sacked, we needed to appoint a manager who was experienced and excited the fans. I don't like Steve Evans but credit to him he knows how to get his team playing. We need to see passion from the technical area, someone who can inspire the players to a win. It's going to be a tough season with such a poor start and I'm struggling to see how we are going to turn it around. On Tuesday I was immensely proud of the lads but today I felt the complete opposite!

Posted

Well that was a 1-0 mullering i'm afraid Pies. We should have scored more but hey? we still won. Got my sums wrong about the Millers fans at ML, only 1411 could be bothered.

You guys look to be low in confidence ATM but a bit to early to be calling for CK's head methinks.

All the best guys!!!!!

I've been too disappointed and upset to comment so far but I've calmed down after a few beers. How can more or less the same team play so well at Liverpool and so poorly today is beyond me. I really don't know what the answer is, I'm not sure sacking another manager is going to do any good, the players need to take responsibility, we know they have talent we've seen them play well against Liverpool, Galatasary, Ipswich etc., they need to start showing it where it counts in the league otherwise we are going to be relegated and that would be a tragedy. We are too negative, how many times did we have the ball in promising situations and start passing back only for it to eventually get back to Bart who then has to hurriedly hoof it back up the field.

When Rotherham attacked they had five or six men going forward into our area, we were lucky to have two when we attacked. Two shots on target says it all.

We've got a respite now before the next league game so hopefully we will get some players back, we desperately need to get some confidence back in the squad somehow, perhaps get some new players in before the deadline.

Well done to Rotherham lets take nothing away from them it could have been 4 or 5 nil, I really dislike Steve Evans and his oppo, I sit right behind the dugout and I haven't seen a more obnoxious pair in there this season but as someone else said they certainly know how to get their team playing.

Spoke to an old chap as we caught the bus back to where we are staying.

He told me he's followed Notts for 50, told me about bad times and even how bad today's game was. He told me he hopes the board sell, that we get new staff and of course new players.

Said he likes ambition but it clueless right now.

I asked if he was proud he responded "only our history" and added he wouldn't be going back.

He was actually polite, well spoke and you could tell he cared.

Its horrible but focus on positives. I hope there's still some.
