the difference between pon and the social media pages

i have noticed that if someone posts a very valid discussion that the social media pages will either be very positive or negative, usually it depends what the first person says but i don't think many actually read anything more than the title which is a little pointless.

if someone posts something positive, you get comments like "do you go to games?", "where have you been the past three weeks" among more insulting messages.

but if you post something negative the positive/deluded fans come out the woodwork, where are they in general? i dont get it. i accept opinions as most members here do but the people who loosely engage on social media make me laugh.

I find social media to be far more negative but to read some fans opinions you would assume it's different.

Both sides have the argument that you don't know what is frustration or what the fan(s) are normally like, so you can read into what you see. I do agree with @liampie that most just seem to read the title and act like everything is all negative.

I would rather staff off social media and just post here myself.

"Strive not to be a success, but rather to be of value."

Found a few over social media recently especially some young fans who have not got a clue just shout and tweet the owner NOLAN OUT. They haven't got a clue. Talking on forums is a much more calculated way to talk and spread opinions. Plus you'll know people will read them and hopefully have a discussion with you.

People just seem very angry on social media.

I like Twitter, I haven't used it much since joining but I would use it more than Facebook. People seem more grounded, from my short time using FB and seeing how Notts fans act I can't see myself getting involved with it.

People assume because a fan has something to say that they are the one who's right without having a discussion.

It seems a bit of a boring way to think IMO.

Oh oh oh ohhhhh, everywhere where we go, watching super County putting on a show!

People never see what commitments fans make where ever they choose to socialise.

After a game a fan could have a 'knee jerk reaction' or just simply be speaking from the heart, yet to someone else they won't see it in the same light. It's the same thing when we all discuss the games and rate the players, it depends on your prospective but aggressive responses on social media seems to be the norm.

I'm not worried about the difference, just try to ignore it and just gauge who is 'discussing' things and who is 'arguing' or being 'abusive'.

Then leave them to it, don't worry too much.

A field where dreams become reality.

The way I would sum it up is PON is there to discuss matters if you want.

Social media is the exact same thing but from what I see people choose to be the "person in the know" and become aggressive when things don't go along with what their agenda is. I stay clear of anything like that.

Some people seem to forget that "social media" is a new & foreign concept to many Notts fans & posters, trying to get your point over in a few sentences ( there is a limit on twitter I believe) is not what we are used to so we may come across as abrupt or ignorant. I am new on this forum but have been active for a while on others so know one or two posters & much like the "mad" board it surprises me how different posters are in real life. I try to abide by the rule that I never post anything that I wouldn't say to someones face, but this is very difficult when you are limited in the space that people expect you to use.

The problem I find is fans who cannot understand someone else's perspective or views.

Some fans just don't seem to be able to hold a respectful conversation online, this extends beyond social media.

@Ancientpie has hit the nail on the head, “don’t post anything you wouldn’t say to someone’s face” if everyone on social media stuck to that it would be a far better place but a lot of folk are keyboard warriors and seem to think that anything goes when posting online.
