Chris Matheson MP calls for tough and independent regulation of football clubs

As quoted by the Nottingham Post:

“Under current rules, fans have no means of redressing their grievances.

“Fans such as those of Blackpool or Coventry or Bolton Wanderers have been treated abysmally, with their owners at fault. There has to be a mechanism to provide fans with an outlet to redress their grievances because at the moment they have nowhere to go.

“I am aware that the majority of football club owners are committed and passionate about their clubs. They recognise that fans are the pulse that keeps football clubs alive. However, too many clubs are being driven to the ground with no mechanism in place for fans to flag up misconduct.

“The Football Supporters Association’ have highlighted that this is not an isolated issue, it is happening across the country. Dedicated fans watch helplessly as their treasured clubs crumble from lack of investment or financial exploitation by dodgy owners.”

.

In truth, I do feel that owner, regardless of how much money they have should be obligated to pay the bills.

However, this would increase the use of admin and I feel better vetting before hand is commonly the way forward. There's all this talk after Munto (by the Football League) and other clubs that owners would be vetted, put under a magnifying glass (not literally) and reassurance that there's physical money to at least cover 5 seasons. I believe Tony Xia, Aston Villa's owner had to prove he had money to cover the several seasons, they have issues with paying things on and off during their reign in the Championship and I know he's since become the co-owner.

Yet it doesn't seem much guarantees are given to small clubs like Notts, I mean, who said it was okay for Alan Hardy to own Ilkeston Town?

It truly shows how massively backwards the system is currently.

A field where dreams become reality.

I'm bored of it all, I don't care. I just want my club back and for the staff to communicate properly.

Oh oh oh ohhhhh, everywhere where we go, watching super County putting on a show!

The SLO role is meant to be a link from the fans to the board, they can only do so much but it seems like the club don’t want them to actively do the roles.
