Macclesfield expelled from National League

Featured Replies

I have very little sympathy for the club, any genuine fan that isn't a windup merchant is my only exception (many of them seem to be pathetic though).

No end making comments about us being relegated, wishing we folded before the Danish brothers arrived. It's either karma, or what goes around comes around. They've been struggling for quite a few seasons, so you'd have thought they could've tried to do a bit more perhaps. Hiring Sol Campbell and, many other things makes it hard to feel disappointment. I watched the video attached to the news link, the person who said "people may think it's related to COVID-19" - nobody in football would've thought that.

I wish their phoenix club all the very best mind.

Very sad news for the fans and of course the employees. I hope a new club can get back on its feet and be playing football at Moss Rose again very soon. Forget about the keyboard warriors, every club has them, Notts included.

The club has been run terribly. I've seen the usual quotes about coronavirus and Premier League wages, but Macclesfield hadn't been paying their players on time for several years. They were merrily signing players the very day before their winding-up petition was in court for the 13th(!) time.

I have no sympathy, they've spent and spent.

A wise club would have reigned it in and tried to dig themselves out, no attempt made. Did their fans even bother to raise funds for their club? I am not having a dig with this, even with Bolton I recall seeing the news mention it. Bury went out of their way to try to pull of a miracle.

Is it 4 or 3 teams who will be related from the National League? Its sad to see what happened to Macclesfield, but they have had issues for seasons now.
