I think the crucial areas are obvious, I think Elisha Sam having a full pre-season with Notts will see him get more match sharp from the offset - whether this means he'll make the grade at Notts I don't know but another striker is a key area.

We know that Jake Reeves needs replacing, as I think Jim O'Brien will take control of the Michael Doyle position.

@Super_Danny_Allsopp outline a very detailed outline which is spot on.

Need another striker for sure, if Tyreace Palmer is sent out on loan to gain first team experience we will be left short.

A good signing in this department would 'excite the fans'.

Its good to see Ian Burchnall sees things like the majority of fans do, I do wonder if he will be looking for a backup keeper or if Jake Kean has agreed to fill in for those important games the rookie keeper might not be ready for.

Personally I’d go to the loan market if we are in that situation that’s what most clubs at this level do

@Pie since 89 It can get a bit messy like it did last season, a lot of the loans needn't happen.

I think it depends how well a player can cover, otherwise I would agree with making do with what the club has.

Positive thing he knows what is needed, just getting the most out of the budget I available is the tricky issue.

@heraldmagpie The loan market can be useful, but only if you get the players you want and that fit your plans. Not the youngsters or playing about to come out of the exit door, therefore you become the undesirable club for that transitional period.

There is that option, only issue is if there's little budget remaining you end up getting cast offs or unwanted youth players clubs want you to field.

I am not saying it's a bad thing.

I just feel the loan market can be a real tricky area to delve into with limited resources.

i think the way ian burchnall speaks and addresses his thoughts on the squad, its obvious he has ideas and plans. he seems to understand the players, so i am excited about seeing how we do. we need it to work.

i also dont mind loans when they are used to top the squad up.

when loans are used to fill gaps or cover injuries i think it does become a bit silly.
