Hello, I decided to join and introduce myself. I have been following Notts for approximately four years. Although I wasn't born into supporting the club, I chose Notts after relocating following my studies. The friendliness of the club is what I appreciate, and I have been regularly attending most home games since Notts joined the National League.

Technically astute, good link up play and very much suited to a possession based team like us. Another example of us willing to take a chance on an undervalued player (not in terms of price) but in the sense, that we're a club that can revitalise a player's career. It's worked for John Bostock and it's working for Jodi Jones.
  3. 🎉Happy birthdy, @Fan of Big Tone. I hope you have a wonderful day. 🥳🎊
  4. Our old gaffer (one of our most successful managers) turned 76 today.
  5. Happy Birthday, Neil Warnock! You've successfully graduated from being the grumpy uncle, to the disgruntled grandfather figure that has the tendency of being really naughty. Have a wonderful day! PS. I hope he managed to play some golf, and found some time to yell comments to a Sunday League referee.

Cheers for the kind welcome. I’m not one for football forums usually, and I tend to avoid Facebook groups. But after a good chat with some fans at the Salford match, I thought I’d get more involved with the Notts community. This site seems just right for a good natter about the club. I’m not your usual fan, mind you. I moved from a place with two clubs, one much bigger than the other. But it’s always been the community side of the game that I’ve liked best.
  7. Without Alex Bass tonight, we wouldn’t be celebrating the win. They might have come back or even won the game. It’s not that we were bad defensively, but we did rely on luck at times, and Bass was outstanding.
  8. This was a great performance by Notts tonight. All the players deserve to be on the shortlist & it was hard to pick one, so tonight I have chosen a shortlist of 8 out of the 14 players that played tonight. From the goalkeeper, to the defensive unit, to the midfield & attacking unit they were all superb in my opinion. I have decided to award Alex Bass the man of the match award for his second half performance, especially in that last 30 minutes, with two world class saves to prevent Carlisle from coming back into the game. Special mentions for Dan Crowley, Scott Robertson, Alassana Jatta, & Matty Platt for being the pick of the rest. But there wasn't much in it for all the 11 who started tonight.
  9. The key area - as it has been almost every game this season - it how the defence bounces back. Anyone who has watched us for the last 18 months will know these players simply aren't good enough to play this style week in week out. Yes, we conceded fewest goals last season but we had the most possession by a massive distance, so we conceded those goals based on the opponents having around 25 - 30% possession in each game. This season is a little higher, maybe 35 - 40% possession and our goals against record is close to the worst in the division. We've all seen that but it's almost been kept in house. Last week was so appalling - and in the FA Cup - so has been picked up by BBC, swept across social media, etc, so these players need to show character and stand tall. You can bet Walsall players will be in their ears reminding them. Our middle and attach - as a whole, not necessarily individuals - are L1 standard in my opinion. Sadly, our defence is little better than a poor NL standard. Not because they are being forced into errors, but because they make them without being under pressure. We concede a huge amount of goals when we should be in control but then a misplaced pass, a loss on concentration, whatever, gifts a goal.
  10. For me, Jodi Jones is the standout permanent signing for Notts County. He’s such an interesting and exciting player to watch on the pitch. His speed and agility make him a real threat to any defence. But I must say, I’m also delighted with the other three permanent signings. Will Randall, David McGoldrick and Dan Chorley all bring something unique to the team and I’m looking forward to seeing how they all perform this season.
  11. Here is your shortlist for the Notts man of the match. Matty Platt, Scott Robertson, Alassana Jatta, Dan Crowley, Sam Austin, Alex Bass, Matt Palmer or Jacob Bedeau.
  12. Yeah, as a comfortable as we were at times and even though Crowley got applauded off by the Carlisle fans, Bass was crucial for us especially in the later stages of the match.
  13. Bass is brewing something good????

It's very sad news, it made me wonder if he knew when he recently mentioned how he wanted people to remember him. I am a bit shocked by it still, and very saddened. The times I spoke with Sven at Hart's Restaurant, they will be memories I cherish. I witnessed his kindness, not only asking to speak with me after he first encountered me. Yet more for his selfless acts, the kind of charity that I witnessed where he would support charities without fuss or wanting focus on him. He was a very nice person, who treated people with nothing but respect. Rest in Peace, Sven.
  15. Life is always more difficult than it appears via text and screen, I know this has been troubling you for some time. I am also aware that you have an incredible passion for your content and talking about Notts, this is something you do well and put across your knowledge productively. You can develop burnouts from the demand, I did with Meet the Fans and much of the video content I used to do, but I would be lying if I didn't say I missed it. You've done right by putting yourself first at times, but as I have mentioned, it's only you who can decide about your channel's fate. Taking a hiatus for a season wouldn't be a bad thing, the majority of fans would still be there when you return and a break could do you wonders. You might feel the urge to continue vlogging with the promise of this upcoming season and there will always be disappointment one way or another. If Notts ends up having a good season, and you vlog - you will have documented it through the eyes of a fan. If you didn't, it may add to your regrets. Neither really matters because it's how you feel which comes first. I'm speaking from experience when I say taking time away from something you care immensely about can be overwhelming, I have had low points and I regret battling through them without taking time to myself. Likewise, there have been times when I did take time and coming back felt much harder than going. I have mentioned how @GrannyPie had kept encouraging me to return to PON's social media. It felt difficult, as if I had to give answers, I really didn't. The issue is, what prompted my return wasn't right for me in the end. I needed to take further time off, including the site, just to re-find myself. This isn't about me, however, I can draw comparisons and the point I am trying to make is you need to trust your own judgement. You were pretty timid and reserved when I first met you, but I have seen you grow in confidence and flourish as a person. I know you have had many challenging moments, that's just what life throws at us. You will always be the same person, with or without your YouTube channel. I meant what I said to you yesterday, I am always a message away, and you have never been a burden on me. I think you may want to take some time to think things over, maybe consider delaying your return to vlogging but only if it's unnecessary stress to you. Just remember the positives you get and outweigh things with how you feel. Your friends will still be there for you, just as I will be.
  16. Welcome to PoN @Morten Johansen please make yourself at home it’s good to have you here.
  17. They're a good team; they have a decent midfield with two very good creative outlets that work well for them in Shaun Whalley and Sean McConville. Whilst they might not have the true quality that others may process (like us), they have a real grit and strong understanding of what makes them work. I would highly recommend fans give this a read, at least the bottom part mentioning who we have next - @TheSkipper has written about them superbly. I think it's all about how the game starts, if we are confident and play as we did against Tranmere Rovers, I think Accrington Stanley will struggle. Yet either way the game may go, I believe they'll be the best opposition that we have faced at Meadow Lane. Defensively, we need to be calm and composed, with the players thinking about how each ball they play needs to be the perfect decision. Accington are a team that could pounce on our mistakes. Whilst some would say they are an underdog of this league, with the team spirit of fighters. Notts will know exactly what is needed, we need to match them with our intensity and control the game just by making neat passes. We'll get space, as will they. Notts just needs to make sure Aidan Stone is well protected and that we take any chances which fall our way. It should be a very entertaining game.
  18. Yes, I still can’t believe we aren’t dealing with clueless owners who think we are there to be taken for granted. It’s weird to have two owners who very rarely say anything; not a complaint. It’s refreshing because it stops the doom and gloom merchants from piping up.
  19. Happy Birthday, Neil Warnock! Notts County will forever be better off for the success he brought to us.
  20. I would have said Jatta if he had managed to stay on, but since he went off to a standing ovation with his name being chanted, it was great to see. However, Alex Bass deserves it.
  21. Jacob Bedaeu, he played some quality football and was defensively spot on for me. Bedaeu, can play a quick pass which a lot of our players seem afraid to do, but this from him gave David McGoldrick a good chance and he put Conor Grant clear through until a Gillingham player clattered Grant. I felt a bit miffed by Matty Platt's Man of the Match at the game, I thought he was quite solid but wasn't as involved. I wouldn't say poor, as he was good but just not Man of the Match for me.
  22. Hello, @Mark Holland. Welcome to the Pride of Nottingham. Would you tell us a little something about yourself, such as how long you have supported Notts?
  23. It sounds very much like a PR statement to try to defuse any potential disappointment. "always making responsible decisions with the long-term financial sustainability of the club in mind." I didn't expect us to throw money at the transfer window, reading between the lines it sounds like the club has actively tried to bring in players but have fallen into the market of signing loan players towards the end of the transfer window. There's nothing wrong with that. I am sure that the recruitment process looked at the options, and we might not have got all the players we aimed for, but that's football. "We’re confident that we’ve achieved those objectives this summer and have every belief that, while League Two is shaping up to be an extremely strong division once again, the squad we’ve assembled is capable of competing for promotion." I feel confident, there's always January to review what we have budget wise and what players could possibly make movements coming in. The positives are that we have rejected bids, those could have seen reinvestments in the players, but I don't think we would easily find that type of quality. Dan Crowley and Jodi Jones are vital to the team's dynamics. It's a welcomed statement but quite basic; I am sure I would have expected one. As I say, I think it's to keep morale up and avoid negative landmines from going off.
  24. Has the close and pre-season helped you at all? Is it the process of filming and editing? Would focusing on the positive comments from viewers who enjoy your content help? You mentioned wanting to be good at something. When you think about being good at creating YouTube content, what does that look like to you? Is it about having the most views, or is it about creating something you're proud of and that resonates with your viewers? If you decided to take a break from YouTube, what other creative outlets might interest you? Could you find a way to keep creating content in a format that feels less pressured, like a blog or podcast? You mentioned mental health being a concern. What steps could you take to make creating YouTube content a more positive experience for your mental well-being? Could setting a specific schedule or limiting the time you spend on editing and comments help? These are questions that I think you may want to consider; I don't think you should be tormenting yourself over anything. It is normal to worry, but don't be harsh on yourself. I have always enjoyed reading your comments and watching your videos. The videos where you just talk about Notts are always on point. Maybe those types of videos would be a median between the vlogs? Whatever you choose, I hope you find happiness and still feel part of the X community, along with PON.
  25. Hello, I’ve joined Pride of Nottingham to concentrate on content and I’m keen to get to know the community better. I’ve been a Notts supporter my whole life, born in 1993. My real name’s Gavin, but you can call me Gav or True Magpie, whichever you prefer. I went to my first game in 1996, when I was just three. As for PON, I’ve been a long-time reader and active on social media. I was asked yesterday to consider this role, as it’s similar to my job, and I happily agreed. Gav, True Magpie.
  26. This could be the most difficult game so far (discounting Sutton and Lincoln) I’m hoping our fighting spirit will see us through plus the fact that we are at home with the fans playing 12th man. With Aaron Nemane and Jodie pumping crosses in the box I’m always confident of scoring but not so confident of not conceding. 3-2 would do me.
  27. I completely agree with you, @CliftonMagpie. Jodi Jones is pure class. He’s such a talented player and brings so much to the team. His technical abilities and vision on the pitch are second to none. He’s the kind of player that can change the game in an instant with a moment of brilliance.
  28. After their win over Fleetwood on Saturday, Notts join Port Vale as the only two clubs that have beaten all 91 league clubs in the four tiers.
  29. Those complaining about the infrastructure are short-minded fans who want Notts to live in the stone ages and never be in a position to match more elite clubs that don’t have to worry about the facilities they have because they are state of the art. Every season we would fall further and further behind; nobody ever complains about the pitches, work and they shouldn’t - other areas. It’s just excuses to complain and something to argue is holding us back, when it allows Notts to move forward.
  30. Happy Birthday, @Fan of Big Tone! 🎂🎈🎁 Sorry, I couldn't get @super_ram to dress up and give you your cake. You will have to settle for Superman instead of 'Super Ram'. 😅😂
  31. Wishing you a very happy birthday, junior.I hope Mrs @Fan of Big Tone has recovered enough for you both to have a lovely celebration. But take it easy and don't overdo it at your age.
  32. Happy Birthday, @Fan of Big Tone! How are you planning to celebrate your big day? Hope it’s awesome! Enjoy!
  33. David McGoldrick was everywhere on the pitch. He was crucial in making Notts County work, especially since the team seemed limited in the first half. From what others have said and from what I heard on the radio, I have to agree that Didzy was the key player.
  34. I voted for Platt today for man of the match. He was a colossus at the back for Notts once again and he got up the field to score a strikers goal too. Robertson made a big difference when he came on & bossed the midfield for Notts. Austin was as industrious as ever & got an assist by taking a great pass from Crowley & putting in a great cross for Platt to score his goal. Crowley didn't have his greatest game for Notts but was still orchestrating the Notts chances, & that pass to Austin to put him in was exquisite. Abbott was industrious & could easily have scored but for a great save from the Morecambe goalie Tsaroulla steady at the back & managed some penetrating runs too. McGoldrick worked hard upfront but only got a few opportunities today, but he was at the back to clear off the line in injury time to save a point for Notts, thus demonstrating his commitment all over the field today.
  35. I think Notts has to start off strong and put the pressure instantly on Bromley, the game could easily fizzle out if we don't maintain the standards we have been seeing as of late. I would hope we avoid a game like Tranmere Rovers, which was a good starting point for us, but they are a team that Notts should be doing well against. Callum Reynolds and Kamarl Grant will be two players from a defensive point our fans should keep an eye on. If Kamarl Grant plays to his potential, then I can see @Piethagoram pointing him in a scouting dossier. He's on loan from Millwall, but is a very capable defender at this level, and he's only 21-years-old. Their midfield is very hard-working, Corey Whiteley being one of their creative outlets. I think we're robust enough to keep Michael Cheek quiet, but Marcus Dinanga could present some trouble. If we can avoid a scrappy game, where both teams keep in on the ground, and the ball flows then I think we stand strong in terms of getting a result.
  36. at least its consistent to a point, all they need is to make sure they have firepower. it would be easier to start drawing and then winning, but i do think its a sign of a team that has lost many of their better players.
  37. It shows what direction Notts are heading, the club is being lifted by the Reedtz and the rollercoaster is just beginning and I mean this in a good way.
  38. Like you say that's football, you're never going to get your number 1 targets all the time but I think we clearly prioritised the defence hence the early signings of the likes of Bedeau, Platt, Bass, Tsaroulla and McDonald (looking forward to seeing him in action when he reappears!) By the end of window most of the better players out of contract have already moved so it's a case of weighing up the next best options and that will then sometimes involve a fee. The Bros are very sensible in that they won't overpay for a player and at the same time they won't just sell off our best players because a bid has been made. Keeping Crowley and Jones was just as important as bring in players too. I think Notts have done pretty well over the summer and I'm confident we've got a stronger squad than last season.
  39. I'm very grateful to all the members who've kept PON updated during the off-season. When things are quiet, it's crucial to keep plugging away, and those interactions really count when it comes to the times when fans start getting excited about the upcoming season. With pre-season on the horizon, I'm putting in the graft to get everything back up to scratch, all the while making sure I'm organised so that we don't have a repeat in the future. We're still working on sprucing up the users' post area, which will bring in some handy information and show various details about a poster, like their age if they've got that enabled. Their post count, reputation and more. The post count will also show up on handheld devices, which is a nice touch when you're seeing who's shared a comment. On top of this, I'm putting together a FAQ page which should provide answers to questions that some members might not know about. A good number of Notts Alumni's have been written and are waiting for final proofing. I'll be getting back to publishing these for Sunday reads. The Pride of Nottingham PONcast is also making a comeback, with episodes yet to be scheduled but work is underway to bring back our popular talk show podcast. We'd like members of the community to get involved, by sharing their thoughts in an audio format. Calls can be made at a stage to me, which I'll produce into episodes to give us that fan element. Lastly, I'm chuffed to say we've got some team openings. I'm keen to beef up the content side of PON again, by publishing fan-written opinions. But it's not just that, we're also on the lookout for volunteers who'd help with researching tasks, graphic design and joining our social media team. Check out our openings on the link below. https://prideofnottingham.co.uk/openings/ Cheers to all the members! Pride of Nottingham Team, Chris
  40. They’ve not only transformed our fortunes on the pitch they’ve made lots of improvement off the pitch too, new pitch with future proof option for under soil heating new fan zone The Hub new sound system new bar behind kop electronic advertising boards new score boards Enlarged hospitality seating Lots of which help generate more income, I t’s incredible what they’ve done in 5 years, we are very lucky to have great owners rebuilding our club on and off the pitch.
  41. Welcome to the Pride of Nottingham, @BiggestPieInGlasgow. ????????
  42. A lot of you won’t have been born when this team played, one of my favourite Notts teams, what a great season it was.
  43. A big thank you to everyone who took the time to nominate members and then vote. November has been a great month, and it’s wonderful to see 29 members of the Pride of Nottingham participate in the voting process. Here are this month’s winners: Member and Team Member of the Month. Congratulations, @Piethagoram (Member) and @super_ram (Team) on being named the Members of the Month. We greatly appreciate your contributions. As we approach December, please remember that this is all in good fun. Once again, thank you to every member, visitor, and team member for their incredible support towards the PON site. Best of luck for next month!
  44. I think I said this last week, this will be our toughest test so far, let’s hope we are up to it, looks like another big following of away supporters which will lift the lads. A draw would be a good result, a win would be fantastic but if we lose it won’t be the end of the world. I’m happy if the team give their all that is all I ask.
  45. Kristian Dennis and Kane Hemmings return to Meadow Lane. I don't know if both of them are available, but we most certainly know they are a threat. When we had the pair, neither really played together and that always seemed like a wasted opportunity to me. For some reason, Hemmings wouldn't always be played as striker, which was even more baffling. Dennis went in and out of favour at the club, quicker than Harry Kewell's departure. Yet, I always felt they had potential as a pairing. Tranmere Rovers can't be underestimated, but I feel happier knowing that we are at Meadow Lane. Yet there's that potential threat that they may play us in such a way, where they want to start their season and change how it has begun. They started off very much identical to us, but we have picked up, and their time isn't going to be far away. So, I would like to see us play the ball out calmly from the back. Notts needs to be defensive minded that they have players who can force mistakes, so we shouldn't make it easier for them by making poor decisions when we pass. Our strengths have to be used and that for me is the quality we have in midfield. If we can pass the ball around productively, taking any sting out of Tranmere's play. I think we should be fine to create chances which could lead to goals, as I say being at Meadow Lane for me is a positive. I would feel a lot more nervous if this were an away game, thankfully for us and Luke Williams we are at Meadow Lane. Our support could be vital in making this a three pointer.
  46. This is why I have always spoken highly of Matt Palmer. He's just a quality midfielder that does all the stuff most fans take for granted. Tracking back to defend or to pick up the ball, his passing becomes a motor to move forward and into space. Palmer's partnership with John Bostock is unstoppable. While Bostock operates similarly, Palmer's strategic movements and quick decision-making skills allow him to effortlessly navigate the field, leaving other players in awe. He's by far the best all round midfielder that Notts has had for years. I'm hoping we can start getting a bit more out of him in terms of his finishing, but I do acknowledge that not everyone will get goals. I just think it's the only area he doesn't have confidence in or excel at, and it's natural. Palmer will have worked harder on what he's good at and that's why he's so good; I just think seeing him score a bit more would be nice for him.

This has the potential to be a massive signing for Notts. He’s a great player and comes to us with a far better squad than he was around at Morecambe. I think his coming here will be a big boost for Luke Williams.
