  1. It's happening, but I wish we could cut out the idiots, it ruins the match day experience when some idiot keeps shouting nonsense. At least 10 times this past season, young lads have sat near to me and knew nothing about Notts. Quite a few were Forest fans, but would berate the players and make what they thought were funny jokes about players like Nemane who one tool, referred to as "insane". Personally, I would rather Notts target families than individual supporters.
  2. I attended a game where we were 10 minutes from the ground, having spent 3 hours on a coach only for the game to be called off. I want to say Swindon, but I think it wasn't them. I felt incredibly annoyed because it was snowing badly in Nottingham, but tickets and travel had all been paid for. Whoever it was, they did a Dover on us. Pitch is fine; weather conditions aren't as bad. Pitch inspection was like 1:30pm which supposedly passed. Then at the very end it was called off. I believe I am correct, as a fan mentioned a story about a lonely tree and the stupid roundabout that occurs as you enter. I know some Notts fans had managed to get inside the ground and said the pitch looked fine. This made me very choose when it came to attending games that could be cancelled.
  3. Best, Anfield, Keepmoat Stadium (I know it's changed now), Lamex Stadium (great away day, though the fans who were hurt/killed is haunting). Worst... Northampton and Gillingham.
  4. I read 'Schofield' in a headline about being arrested due to alleged relationships and incident acts with minors. I instantly assumed it was about Phillip. I didn't know he had a brother. But there's something within their past that makes me feel this behaviour seems normal. Phillip did an interview where he said he was shocked when his brother told him, it sounded scarily causal. He mentioned that he told his brother to shut up and that he didn't want to know. That he had his brother swear it was just the one time but decided not to report it. I'm sorry, that alone is suspicious. Firstly, Phillip should've gone straight to the police instead of keeping quiet. Why did he say he wanted to talk to the police but also wanted to protect his brother from getting in trouble? Phillip even went as far as stating that he didn't hate his brother! I wouldn't have been so coy about it; I would tell them to either hand themselves in or I would call the police. I don't care, this stuff is serious, and it ruins people's lives. I wouldn't hide it, swear to secrecy. The fact Phillip has been on record saying this stuff, it makes me wonder if he was mindful about his own life choices. I actually liked Phillip at one point, but I think his trustability and actions have been questionable ever since all this news came out. https://www.thepinknews.com/2023/06/02/phillip-schofield-interview-this-morning-affair-bbc-the-sun/#page/1 I hope the police investigate Phillip. The press should not harass people. However, Phillip could have helped himself and the situation, but he didn't.
  5. That's good, I am glad she's in good spirit. My dad's on the phone now to @cheeky~k8, I have relayed the message to him as I don't think he's been on here today. He wants you to know he sends his best wishes to you and your wife. The City Hospital is very good for the heart. I hope you are okay within yourself, Tony.
  6. @Fan of Big Tone Oh no, I hope she's okay. I'm sorry to read this mate. I hope she's okay. You're right, the hospital is the best place for her. I really hope it's not a heart attack. I've been spending the final full day we have on our family break going round Ingoldmells. We spent a few hours on the beach. Jake spent the time flying a kite with his new appreciation of loving the beach. Myself, I nodded off twice and just relaxed. We had dinner in a nearby themed pub, which we like and it was nice. A short hop on an open-top bus, we found our way back in Skegness where we'd been in a few arcades and sat down in a place called Empire for drinks. It's probably been the warmest and nicest day, a little breezy at times but nothing that would make you have chills. I'm sending you positive well wishes, Tone. ❤
  7. I think Newport County could spend wages more wisely, although Enzio does have goals in him - he's not very consistant at all, his defensive play is quite detrimental to a team too. He's probably better off at Sutton.
  8. Hello, @Lydia. Welcome to the Pride of Nottingham, I hope you enjoy being a part of our Notts County community. If there's anything I or, a memeber of the PON team can do in order to help you please let us know.
  9. Yes, of course. I have no reason to buy the National League Paper, but I will still be interested in checking results. I'll be keeping a close tab on Alfreton, as I hope they can finally get promoted again. They should be in the National League.
  10. The yellow card was harsh, I've seen plenty of blatant footballers leaving slowly to kill momentum in games or at least try. That said, he's not really a striker. He doesn't have goals in him. Though he did have some speed.
  11. Yes, this didn't just go viral across social media. It was picked up by the National and Local News, although I'm not sure why East Midlands would take time to focus on it. I think it does summarise all the reasons why fans should consider their loyalty. There's been times I wondered if it was worth being a Notts fan, not because of results on the pitch or people behind the scenes but due to how much time it takes. The commitment most fans make to their clubs, it's something they have to respect. Thankfully, this Ex Manchester City fan has found that local work by a smaller club is something which warrants his time.
  12. I haven't seen it yet, but I have made a note which isn't a mental one because that would lead me to forgetting. It's always good to try to support a Notts County fan.
  13. A few years ago, I spoke to a Nottingham-based historian who told me a lot about this. He mentioned a lot of the people who were found guilty of the trouble, were just simple poor people who were unconnected to the whole event. During our conversation, he revealed to me that many commonly accepted historical accounts are actually inaccurate. I distinctly remember him mentioning that the fire at Nottingham castle was ignited by a group of mistreated servants who worked for the castle's owners. Allegedly, it wasn't the same people rioting and causing the damage as people are told. But the common workers who had discussed how they wanted to be treated better, so each of these groups formed a mob that caused damage. I visited the Galleries of Justice and received an informative tour of their latest exhibit from a knowledgeable staff member. The exhibit centred around several individuals who were unjustly accused of rioting. The exhibit was a fascinating deep dive into their stories.
  14. Josh Windass is a good player; I would say he's more of a midfielder than a striker, but he does well up top. It's just good to see him get on the ball deeper, like when Wayne Rooney dropped into midfield. I didn't realise he's 29! I thought he was younger. It was also interesting to see he started at Huddlesfield Town. No hint of Sheffield United! Well done to Sheffield Wednesday for gaining promotion. When we're in Skegness, we eat at a café run by a very friendly Sheffield Wednesday fan. He was gutted when they went down, but he's walking a few inches taller now! Also, in one of the arcades I bumped into a Luton fan who wished Notts well! He told me about them being a large amount of fans to Meadow Lane the season they went up from League Two. It's one of those seasons where fans are happy for each other.
  15. I consume music in various ways, from my desktop/laptop, to my phones and other methods. I mostly use YouTube music now as it's just very convenient and has literally everything I could dream of wanting to hear. On my desktop, I have an app called MusicBee, which nicely presents all the songs/albums I have on my hard drive. It has a plugin to bridge YouTube Music, which is handy, but I also use YouTube Music in my browser. It's one of the most used apps on my phone too. I don't own a hi-fi system, Kate has one we don't use stored away but in terms of traditional means of playing music, we don't have any. CDs are just a collector's item now; we barely use them. Prior to Christmas, @cheeky~k8 and I put our heads together and decided to buy @super_ram a new record player. It brings the radio, and phone streaming together. He could also record his music from vinyl. We went over one Sunday and helped Super set it up, we listened to a few records, and it took me back. Something I really enjoyed, it was nice to see my dad smile knowing he can listen to his collection again. He also loves listening to YouTube music! So, how do you listen to music? Do you have a subscription to Spotify or another music streaming service? Do you use YouTube Music? What's your preference and thoughts on vinyl, tap, CD, digital music? Let's try to have a fun discussion and learn more about each other.
  16. Erm, I don't think we should really criticise any of the friendlies because we do have the Stoke CIty game to look forward too. After all, these are routine games for the players to gain match fitness and for Luke Williams to test things out. I took @super_pie and @Callum234 to last season's pre-season friendly, as I wanted to go see what had happened to where my grandparents lived and to show Jake now that he's older. It's not a bad ground, some of our fans calling the ground felt very petty considering it wasn't a competitive game. Yet I enjoyed it, despite the mouthy person to the left of us shouting all sorts on nonsense to Alfreton fans. Had one of them socked her one, she'd be playing the victim. Very irritating person. I aim to go, it should be a good game. I think I might see if I can carpool with someone though.
  17. I remember seeing Paddy McCourt defence explain his side of things. It's important to remember that there's always a possibility of false allegations. Victims may inadvertently identify the wrong perpetrator, or a supposed victim may be lying to mislead others. Therefore, we must approach any accusations with an open mind and gather all the facts before making judgments or taking action. It's vital to ensure that we're not condemning innocent people and causing unjust harm. Such as Chad Evans - whilst involved teammates avoided any repercussions. I'm unsure how DNA would help, as "Giving evidence, the alleged victim told the hearing that she was touched inappropriately while standing at a bar in Derry city centre." doesn't sound like a scenario where it would be all that helpful. Whilst the claims itself are sexual in nature, it thankfully wasn't the R word. Not that being touched indecently isn't a serious problem, but it's not at that level. I do feel Paddy McCourt could be innocent, as I see no reason why he would touch a female in such a manner. The CCTV doesn't sound as impactful as the articles lead you to believe, as angels can be misleading. However, IF Paddy McCourt did touch the person in question then he should and quite rightly face the appropriate actions. The punishment isn't for me, or anyone but the judge./jury to decide.
  18. I can't see it catching on very easily, even within cricket. People will still go in with their own drinks, inside bags and leave the rubbish behind. A reusable cup isn't going to solve much in my opinion. It's a nice idea but it will prove to be flawed.
  19. Recap: Check out the Pride of Nottingham online magazine "Our Pride", which features the very best of the content. https://prideofnottingham.co.uk/ourpride/ Latest articles worth a read, plus a comment if you haven't. Also, Pride of Nottingham writer @Simon Clark has written a superb feature about how playoffs winners from the National League have faired since their promotion to the Football League.
  20. We must steer clear of the danger of being just an average team that will have a hard time succeeding. At the same time, we don't want to articulate anything that sets excessively high expectations or puts undue pressure on the players. I think we have a good squad, thankfully with many of the players renewing so far and that gives a good level of morale going into a new campaign. So, on paper we should do well and I do believe we will. I think under the Reedtz stewardship, we will be a forward-thinking club. However, if for some reason we do end up struggling at any point. I will try my hardest, as I always do, to encourage fight and belief.
  21. I am delighted, I think Sam Slocombe gets a lot of unfair stick, whilst I acknowledge that there are fair points. I wonder if some border haters think about why he has brought stability to the position since he came in. This isn't a dig to any member, I think when someone on here may point out his distribution that's a fair talking point. League Two is an era where we could potentially sign someone younger and has more potential, but I do see the benefits in sticking with players who are established Notts players. I think Sam tries and puts 100% in, which makes me feel delighted that he has agreed to stay on.
  22. Good signing for Alfreton, I agree. I had been saying for ages how Richard Duffy was a waste of a shirt, it made me sick of the lack of effort he put in and then swagged around like he was a superstar! People say, that Kevin Nolan's biggest mistake was not to play Jonathan Forte, whilst I agree it was a mistake. Letting Duffy be friends with the coach and giving him a guaranteed spot in the team regardless of his performance was a bigger problem for me. Nolan had his favourites, I won't say 'drinking buddies' which is what many other fans would call their relationship. Shaun Brisley suffered due to those within the Duffy game. Hate is a very strong word, but I despise Duffy and his arrogance. Fans that defend him, I can't understand and would suggest they check out the highlights of games in which he featured. Brisley would have been fine with a faster, more mindful defender. That didn't have a best before tag attached to his shirt collar.
  23. If Notts County is promoted to the Championship, we will have to step up our game to meet the level of competition. We should already be in a good place to compete with the best of the best by then. It would be foolish if we didn't adapt, so there's no worry about this squad we have now and that which might play in the Championship. Our style of play would befit the league, though, with our defence. Would be the main area which would need a bit of focus. By this stage we would no doubt have a new number one. Ideally, someone young and with plenty of room to further improve.
  24. Welcome, @two for joy. To the Pride of Nottingham, I hope you enjoy being a part of our Notts County community.
  25. It's weird, I would be confused if I were Ricardo Moniz. It seems political, rather than football related (his sacking). I hope he finds a good club that will give him time, his stays at club never seem to be long lasting.
