  1. This is an interesting topic. When it comes to family and friends, they're more Forest than County. Most of my family are Forest fans, My Best Mate is a Forest fan and I have quite a few good friends who are Forest fans. My Dad is a Liverpool fan. So as you can imagine I had all the kits, books, VHSs and even had an Anfield tour. The first ever football match I attended was actually a Forest game in 2000. Forest 0-0 Wimbledon. My brother took me to it. But, I wasn't in to football at that time, paid no interest in it what so ever. There are often jokes about how low down we are, ribs about the wheelbarrow or even that they're "our big brothers up in the PL". But it's nothing more than meaningless banter between family and friends. Some of them even wish us every bit of success and like to see Notts do well. Had the odd occasion, especially during school and college, where there were idiots who would take the piss but the only thing was to stand by being a Notts fan. It was usually those who supported bigger clubs or glory hunters that often piped up, who let's face it never really go to see them play live.
  2. @DangerousSausage 100% didn't think we were out of it going in to HT trailing 2-0 with the way we were playing. I did though like the fact that despite trailing and time getting on needing a goal to get on level terms, Notts still stuck to their game passing the ball around patiently waiting for an opening especially considering how much Boreham Wood were sitting back defending their lead. It was frustrating at times but there was belief that we could claw it back and they did just that. As nerve wrecking as it was, it was all worth it in the end.
  3. Never do things the easy way. Should've been 2 or 3 up in the first half. But fair play to the lads they dug in kept fighting stuck to the game plan and got the job done. High line got caught for the first goal and sloppy pass to gift their second. Didn't think we deserved to go in HT 2-0 down which I'm gonna guess it's what Luke Williams would have said to the lads at HT. Just wasn't Ruben's day, normally he'd be putting away those chances he had today and the penalty save just topped it off for how his day went. Aden Baldwin deserves credit, gave warning after warning about his shooting ability and the first was a cracker. Went to sleep allowing them in, which could have made it 3-1, but he was there to get a touch and stop it going in. Jodi Jones was hit and miss after coming on but he delivered when I counted both setting up Baldwin to take the game into extra time and then scoring the winner. Not forgetting Nemane who was brilliant down the right and made an important interception. Also Langstaff, despite not having many opportunities, still getting into them areas. Unfortunate not to get at least one. But he gave some work, especially when he got back and battled to win the ball following a counter attack. On to Saturday. 1 win away from returning to where we need to be!
  4. I remember having to study Hillsborough while at college, 11 years ago. The more we studied it the more it became clear there was so many failings. Can't believe it took as long as it did for justice.
  5. I'll take that point. Second best throughout the game. Managed to deal with Tozer's long throw in really well time and time again. We were slow at moving the ball, they were able to regroup easily and pressed us down fast not allowing us to move the ball freely. Fortunate not to go 1-0 down as on replays it looked to be onside. There were times we looked threatening moving forward just a lack of support at times. Slocombe has to take full responsibility for the equaliser. Poor goalkeeping hesitant at claiming the ball in when he should he claiming it.
  6. We all have our own opinions on international football but the internationals should he cancelled while the whole pandemic is around. Here's why I think it should be stopped. Iceland have been given exception to travel to the UK despite playing in Denmark that are on the UKs travel ban list. Secondly, let's trace players for example Harry Maguire played against Ireland. Maguire plays for Man United. David De Gea is a team mate of his and plays for Spain. David De Gea is team mates nationally with Sergio Ramos who plays for Real Madrid. Real Madrid have multiple nations in their squad. Correct me if I'm wrong but doesn't that start a spread in multiple nations? Plus, Alan Browne tested positive a day after playing for Ireland against England. Players will be going back to club football with which their are multiple nationalities. For me, the internationals shouldn't be going on. We're in lockdown to avoid spread and have travel bans in place yet nations can travel from place to place.
  7. Totally agree with this part. Speaking as a father, my daughter started her first year in school last year but because of the first lockdown she missed out the rest of her first year from March. She went from learning so much at school to then slowly forgetting most parts. Even with home schooling. Children at the same age as both mine, 5 & 3, home schooling isn't exactly a learning environment. Home is where they feel comfy. TV, toys, their own things, all distractions from them learning. Since my daughter went back to school in September, she's learnt so much more again and has even been praised and awarded a certificate for her willingness to learn. There's only so much schools can send out to help children learn but a child still learning in their first few years of school may get confused by teaching methods at home as it may not be the way it is in schools.
  8. @eighteensixtytwo finally someone with a bit of sense. I'm a person that dislikes government figures but everything that's happening defying the government don't make you big or clever. The sooner we listen the quicker it'll be over. Does my head in that even in these tough times people still find it suitable to call the government play politics and blame them. Stand together and we will strive.
  9. @Countyman apparently he had it, there's been a lot spoken about the fact he quoted "Visited" as if to say he had it and now its gone But the thing is.. 1. The spread would of been a big amount considering him being at the game v Milwall 2. Arsenal and Man City game postponed due to Arsenal having played Olympiakos which he was at the game but the players aren't being tested.
  10. @BromPie i read earlie that Korea are reporting a decline in new cases same as China. Now if China and Korea are both reporting decreases, thats a step in the right direction.
  11. @liampie it's guidelines now where all work will be genuinely taking every precaution
  12. @Countyman@Countyman Exactly, they release figures but don't tell you what the survival rate is or recovery. Or even simple things like health issues or age groups.
  13. @liampie as long as you follow the guidelines after handling such things that are imported you should be fine tbf. I'm like you I'd rather be at work.
  14. @NottsTastic never considered that very good point
  15. @liampie people are also gonna use this to skive work due to quarantine and statutory sick pay being the guidelines
  16. China have reported a slowdown and as of yesterday only 5 people outside of Wuhan contracted it out of 119. Basic hygiene and flu prevention you should be fine. But given all the figures it's strange how they won't say the survival rate or recovery rate. Or even the age bracket/health issues those had who caught it. Given how many have caught it compared to deaths, the ratio is low.
  17. @upthepies the conspiracy theories surrounding it is incredible tbf look into some of them
  18. Shouldn't worry about it too much after all we've had all this before..
  19. This week, Notts County secured the signing of striker Kyle Wootton from Scunthorpe United having impressed during his loan spell at Meadow Lane this season. The striker signed a two and a half year deal with the fee rumoured to be around £60,000. Many Notts fans were delighted when the news emerged that the 23-year-old was signing on a permanent deal having been subject to much speculation during the Christmas period and the opening of the January transfer window. But just how impressive is the signing of Wootton and how will he have an impact of Notts Countys chances of gaining promotion back into the Football League? When he originally signed on loan from Scunthorpe United at the beginning of the season, there were a few fans sceptical as to how well he would actually do and wondering whether he was even required considering the likes of Nathan Tyson and Kristian Dennis still being at the club. But Neal Ardley, before signing Wootton, was said to be looking for a strong forward. Which many could say we needed considering the last season it’s something we was lacking. A strong forward with the ability to get past defenders. According to Notts County Stats (@Notts_Stats) on Twitter, Wootton has a goal every 188 minutes with an efficiency of 2.08 - only bettered by Wes Thomas (1.82) and Kristin Dennis (1.31). Though he went on an 8 game scoreless run between September and November, despite Notts winning 5, drawing 2 and losing just once during those games, Wooton has certainly now found his feet and seems like every time Notts get a goal this season and now it’s almost as if it's expected that his name will be there on the scoresheet. Wootton has netted 5 goals in his last 6 games including a brace in the fantastic comeback win against FC Halifax just before Christmas, which in turn was his third brace this season. Many Notts fans will say we haven’t really had a good striker since the days of Lee Hughes, but who knows, now Wootton has signed on a permanent deal, he might be the answer we’ve been looking for to get us goals and send us back to where we belong, in the Football League. 20. Last season was not a memorable one from a Notts County fan perspective. Relegation to the National League for the first time in our history, thus losing the title as the World's Oldest Football League Club. Hopefully we can bounce back at the first time of asking. But while we are playing in the National League, there's something for fans to look forward to, especially if you are a fan who loves to groundhop. Many fans have been ticking off grounds they have visited during our time in the Football League, but the prospect of seeing new grounds and visiting new places should be something to enjoy this season. The shortest journey during the National League season will be a trip to Chesterfield where Notts will renew their East Midlands rivalry with the Spirites for the first time since they were relegated from League Two during the 2017/18 season. Solihull Moors will be another short journey for the Notts fans with them situated in the West Midlands. There will be long journey's along the way for Notts fans during the upcoming season. A few trips to the coast and 4 trips down to London for the Magpies faithful. Coastal trips include journeys to places such as Ebbsfleet, Eastleigh, Fylde, Barrow, Torquay and Hartlepool. 4 of these 6 places will be new to many. Notts County fans will know Torquay, the last time these 2 clubs met was when Notts County won League Two during the 2009/10 season. Hartlepool will be another familiar foe for Notts having played them a couple seasons back. It is unclear as it stands with what will happen with Gateshead. There is problems on going at the club but if we are to be playing them next season, it will be the one of the longest journeys for the fans to travel up north. For fans that enjoy visiting new grounds and facing new teams, there will be a number of new grounds to tick off the list. Most grounds in the National League are not all seaters. Most grounds will have seating for less than half the capacity in which the grounds can hold. A trip for those fans who enjoy British history and culture will enjoy taking the trip down south when Notts face Dover Athletic. A trip to the Dover coast and seeing the historic White Cliffs of Dover which is one of the most famous landmark in British culture. A trip to Stockport County will be one that most will enjoy for the night life. Situated in the Greater Manchester county, it is only a 7 mile trip to the Manchester City Centre with most people suggesting is a great night life. For those that enjoy long walks in and around the country side, Harrogate and Halifax could be ideal with both being close to the Yorkshire dales. The most expensive trips will be to Barnet, Bromley, Dagenham and Redbridge and Sutton United. All 4 clubs situated in the capital, London. Whatever the season may bring on the pitch, off the pitch could be an enjoyable experience for the fans with new grounds, different places and different teams come visiting. Those fans who have the Groundhopper app or similar apps in which they tick there grounds off, it will be an experience for them. 21. @upthepies I'm not a fan of the efl trophy tbf but it's nice to have some cup run
  22. League run not so good but could we make a good cup run?
  23. Normally I'm optimistic, more than I should, but as soon as that first goal went in I was dreading the rest of the half.

    BREXIT.....

@Piethagoram learn from history? So just because something wasnt too great before means it won't be at a second offering? You doubt the abilities of the UK. Its people like you who buy into the scare tactics that put doubts in your minds. You're forgetting all those who move abroad to Spain etc most are pension age and the there are others who take it with them and don't pay into the UK due to being in a new nation. Maybe if they get sent back more contributions will be made to the UK. Contract expired due to brexit oh my you really are deep in sacre monger. You really believe deportation will happen cause we are out? It will be controlled any legal working paying in to the state person who has immigrated over here will remain. If it came to Enzio having to leave or any other player due to a hard brexit then it'll be what it will be. You not seen all the elections going on recently in Italy, Germany and Holland? The parties making the biggest strides are those who wish to leave the EU. Coincidence? Nope after brexit 4 countries wanted to follow suit. Juncker, eu main man, making a mockery of himself in public stumbling. Yeah I want to be part of his establishment And your old enough to know? Tell me why the majority who voted out was over 65 then? Surely they know what it was like and want it back.
