  1. I am pleased that Notts has a young international keeper. However, some form of game time is needed. The issue I foresee is when do we give him more time? The club is pushing for League One and they don’t want to risk it. If we get into League One, what changes then? Effectively, Notts hangs back until the young players need releasing.
  2. If Jim O'Brien signs, do we really need any more experience? Notts might get one or two seasons out of him before he needs replacing. Why not just sign a younger player and forget about David McGoldrick? As forwards are concerned we already have enough.
  3. I don't consume tea or coffee; I've never been able to tolerate them. On warm days, I enjoy treating myself to a milkshake from McDonald's, provided their machines are functioning. Otherwise, I mostly drink water as I'm not particularly interested in other beverages.
  4. I think the transition between the wing-backs and centre defenders going forward needs to be communicated better and organised beforehand. We have seen at times Connell Rawlinson as the only player in our half. I also think Kyle Cameron is quite neglectful of his defensive duties. I remember reading on here that he used to play in midfield, and it shows. When he’s committed to defending, I like him a lot. When he drifts so far up the pitch and doesn’t contribute effectively or loses the ball, which he does a lot, he leaves exploits for good players. People may blame Rawinson for being slow, but Aden Baldin and Kyle Cameron need to make sure their priorities are on defending. Attack when in control; just get back the moment you are not involved in the attack. Don’t remain up when you have little chance to get the ball. The wing-backs need to take their share of defensive duties. This was an area of real weakness; both excellent going forward but average with defending.
  5. I didn’t follow the National League much whilst Notts was in it. I would check scores when I didn’t go to games and search Google for the odd game, but I won’t be doing that now Notts aren’t in the league.
  6. I honestly never liked or rated Enzio. I thought he was complacent and a player that was attracted to headline writing rather than focusing on his overall game. I don’t mean that I don’t like him as a person; I mean his ability on the pitch for us was something I never could get my head around.
  7. I think Ed Francis will take this and use it to mature himself further to show that he has the ability to do well. I hope he manages to find himself playing in the Football League. Until then, I hope he enjoys playing for Gateshead.
  8. I would just like to make this point and I don't mean to offend anyone. When you look at his Wikipedia page, some fans under previous recruitment policies would point out that he's only had success with Sutton in the Non-League. I think this signing honestly would've disappointed some fans before. Am I disappointed? No. I think the recruitment is very tidy these days and I hope the lad can replicate his former success here. It goes to show that young players may just need to find somewhere they can settle down. Secondly, fan expectations are easily managed when the majority that come through the door add quality. Thirdly, players reach their potential at different ages. This looks like a good signing to me.
  9. What made you choose McSwegan as your username? Welcome to PON, @McSwegansRightPeg.
  10. Just when you think all the welcomes have happened, some more go and say hello! Why not, I say! Welcome to the Pride of Nottingham, @Ohh Tommy Johnson.
  11. It’s truly amazing to say that they’ve gone from the Non-League to the Premier League. It’s important they don’t undo this progress by neglecting how they spend their money. Blackpool and Bournemouth both struggled after investing money into their grounds, rather than into the squad. Kenilworth Road does need some major work done to it, but they need to invest smartly if they want to stay up. I hope they don’t throw whatever money they can at whatever sticks; they have the chance of being a team that any fan of a club outside of the Premier League will be hoping to see them do well.
  12. I feel sorry for Ollie. Every shift I settle down to the NEP and read through it. The quality has suffered; there are some stories I couldn’t imagine being newsworthy, but they’re in it. I have always been thankful for the sport section; however, sacking Ollie has left a bitter taste in my mouth, and for this reason, I will be avoiding it from now on.
  13. Affordable season tickets are a start. The club missed a trick by not offering existing season ticket holders a slightly reduced rate. Perhaps even offering them cheaper additional tickets. Winning football games will always attract supporters, provided Luke Williams can maintain Notts as a club that will give healthy competition; it will attract young fans. Yet, I think it’s more important to reward loyalty in an age where companies neglect their die-hard customers.
  14. I have Notts tipped for playoffs personally at this stage. I think there are 7 to 8 good teams in this league. Teams that might not have the depth that Notts does but know how to grind results at this level. I don’t even tip Wrexham to win the league.
  15. I take pleasure in seeing us compete against Forest. The friendly rivalry between our teams always leads to some great banter and gives us the opportunity to boast about our success. Nevertheless, I recognise that both clubs can coexist without any significant issue. Moving forward, if Notts County are to progress, we must endeavour to establish our team as a top-tier organisation. This is the only way for us to move forward and achieve what we're capable of.
  16. Best of luck to Truro. It's not in my nature to shatter their aspirations or ridicule them; despite the challenges, their determination to prevail and accomplish their objectives is commendable. In fact, I would prefer to have them on my side rather than Salford City!
  17. Although I often find it difficult to commit to away friendlies, I am seriously considering attending the upcoming one. Fortunately, Alfreton is not too far from my location, making the journey quite manageable. Additionally, I have heard that the ground and facilities are decent, and the location has some connections to Notts. If the weather cooperates and it is a sunny day, that just adds to the appeal. All in all, it should make for a pleasant trip and an enjoyable experience.
  18. Sam Slocombe has undoubtedly proven himself as an exceptional player, with many standout performances throughout his time with the club. We have been extremely fortunate to have him representing us, providing a much-needed boost to our team. After his second year with us, Sam could have opted to depart, yet he decided to remain loyal to the club, making a considerable contribution to our success. Knowing his ability and dedication, I am thrilled that he has earned these additional two years with us and eagerly anticipate watching his future performances.
  19. Shaun Brisley was initially a strong player, but it seems that the management failed to provide the necessary support. Both Kevin Nolan and Harry Kewell were unable to effectively motivate and uplift those players who needed additional guidance. As Brisley's performances progressively declined, it is likely that this lack of support played a significant role. We wish him all the best as he embarks on his new journey with Alfreton Town.
  20. Josh Windass but add things about his limit in the championship and congratulations to Sheffield Wednesday on their promotion”. Is that correct? If so, I can help you write a comment about Josh Windass and Sheffield Wednesday’s promotion to the Championship.
  21. Mecca is a top, top bloke! He's very down to earth and you can see he's a grafter who enjoys the rewards of his hard work. He's had a sensational start to his Notts career, I hope this keeps in his mind when if comes other clubs promising him the earth. It's what you're gifted, not what you take that makes you a success. I believe in Macca!
  22. We can compare ourselves to some of the teams that have find better, whilst anything can go wrong within a season. I don't feel it's likely with Notts, as the fans, club, staff and players are all pulling in the same direction.
  23. Thank you, everyone! It's nice to be back, I am glad also for the warm embrace of kind compliments to my return. I hope to post as much as I can, during my graveyard shift. They are quiet nights, largely always uneventful.
  24. Welcome, @Lydia. I hope you enjoy your time here.
  25. Hey @Fan of Big Tone, I was just wondering if you've ever been to Corfu before? My wife is Greek and originally from Corfu, and I must say it's such a lovely place to visit. The atmosphere is so warm and inviting, and the people there are incredibly friendly. I'd love to know if you've had a chance to experience it yourself!
