  1. The problem with rumors is that there’s often no way to validate them. However, I think this one can be dismissed. It doesn’t look real. It’s not an account related to League Two. It reads like a general account that isn’t serious about reporting transfer news.
  2. I would vote for Jodi Jones, but I think it’s fairer to choose Dan Crowley. He might have been quiet initially, but he’s been more consistent in my opinion.
  3. Hello, welcome to the PON site and community @Medz59.
  4. Lee has answered the questions very well. I think the game will be closer. I can’t imagine either team will embarrass the other. I don’t expect Notts to play like they did against Grimsby. A good away performance would be nice. It would be good to keep a clean sheet, but I don’t see why either team wouldn’t score. It’s a difficult place to win.
  5. Sven-GΓΆran Eriksson’s tenure at Notts County was short but left a lasting impression. His arrival brought unprecedented attention to the club and instilled hope among the fans. Despite facing financial turmoil, Eriksson's leadership was pivotal in ensuring Notts County's promotion to League One. His selfless act of waiving a substantial payoff to facilitate a takeover by new owners demonstrated his dedication and love for the club. His influence extended beyond the boardroom into the hearts of many supporters, making his legacy a cherished part of Notts County’s history.
  6. He’s a bit smug at times. I don’t like him as a pundit either, but I could watch him hosting or as a presenter, despite there being better people for those jobs. I don’t want to comment on his sacking.
  7. He works hard and is a much different striker than Macaulay Langstaff, which isn’t a knock. Although some of his goals are tap-ins, that’s a sign of his ability to read the game and how play can open up. It’s not a bad thing in my eyes.
  8. Welcome to PON, @Andystarscream. It's nice to be saying hello and greeting you as part of the community here.
  9. Welcome to PON, @Beechams. It's nice to be saying hello and greeting you as part of the community here.
  10. Good luck to him in his retirement. I’m surprised to see this just three games into the season.
  11. Maynard and his team deserve massive praise for this incredible win. The tactics were spot on and the intensity shown from the kickoff was brilliant. Dan Crowley, what a player! His performance was deserving of all the accolades. The defence, despite the late goal, showed some real grit and determination. The fans' support through thick and thin has been amazing and it's great to see the team giving back with performances like this. We need to be consistent, as Maynard rightly pointed out. A fantastic night at Meadow Lane and fingers crossed, many more to come this season.
  12. It simply wasn’t to be. I think we can go into our next league game with more confidence. While I would have loved to see another clean sheet, defensively, we can see there are still improvements. In a league game, it might be different. I think it’s sometimes hard for players coming on to match the standard of performance of those already involved. Yes, I am disappointed we didn’t win. We could have made the second round via penalties, but I won’t let it change the good feeling we have after Tranmere.
  13. He could be a good player for us. The club is probably thinking about who they might be able to attract. If Will Swan isn’t getting game time, it could make the move likely. I don’t know much about him, other than that he was in good form and everyone was talking about him at Mansfield.
  14. I am not downhearted. I think it was a spirited performance, and Notts looked very composed at the back. Going forward, all it takes is for one clever moment to open up the play, but I am encouraged by the display.
  15. Jeff Astle will always be remembered for his heading and goal-scoring ability. He’s a legend of the lane, not just at The Hawthorns. It’s great to read this. I really enjoyed it and found it to be an excellent return for the Alumni series. Jeff would be thankful that there’s content like this continuing his incredible legacy.
  16. Great to see the Faces of PON back for a new season, @Chris. You do an amazing job for us Notts fans.
  17. It’s good to have him on board. I think there’s nothing wrong with the number of midfielders we now have. Conor Grant looked sharp when he came on against Tranmere, and I am keen to see more of him. Considering Aaron Nemane left for a fee, it’s pretty much a win-win for Notts.
  18. I’m feeling really optimistic about our chances this season, and this match against Tranmere could be the perfect way to kick things off. With the likes of Jatta, Scott, Jones and Crowley in our ranks, we’ve got the firepower to really cause problems for their defence. I think it’ll be important for us to get on the front foot early and put them under pressure from the start. Last season, our away form was a bit shaky, but if we can improve on that and get a result at Prenton Park, it’ll be a huge confidence boost. I’m backing us to come away with all three points!
  19. Maynard’s cautious optimism is quite refreshing. It's clear that the team’s focus on defensive improvements is paying off, especially with the stat about conceding only one goal post-60 minutes in pre-season. It’s also great to see new signings, particularly defenders, strengthening the squad. Cedwyn Scott wearing the number nine shirt is fantastic news; his potential as a clean finisher could really make a difference this season. The fact that the team has been scouting Tranmere and is almost set with their starting eleven shows their meticulous preparation. Altogether, this gives me a lot of hope for the season opener and beyond. Can't wait to see the team in action!
  20. I believe they will gradually bring him into the team. He received a warm welcome and a lot of attention, suggesting that he was signed with the intention of becoming their new star striker. I wish him all the best. It would be great if he could come on as a substitute and score against Forest.
  21. At some point, Notts will need to give their promising young players more game time. The risk is relatively low, as mistakes are expected and it’s the only real way to determine if they will ever be good enough. I’m disappointed that there doesn’t seem to be any solid plans focusing on this aspect of our development. It’s also frustrating to see promising young players being released or sold, but that’s always going to be part of Notts.
  22. I imagine the club would be looking to sign some of the trialists we’ve had, while also hoping for more activity from other clubs in the same situation. Notts might also be watching to see if any team’s signings make an existing player more accessible. There are still positions and depth that need to be filled, and the departure of players has created room for improvements to the overall squad. I think that’s why we’ve seen some players released by mutual consent.
  23. There are many great places to walk, especially outside of Nottingham. Leicestershire has some wonderful walking routes, as does the Peak District. Derbyshire also has some charming small towns with good walkways for those who enjoy getting out and about.
  24. I think some of the money will have been used to offload some of the less effective players, allowing the club to reach mutual agreements with them. It would be nice to see some modest fees paid for areas on the pitch that need attention. Whether that’s a striker to replace Macaulay Langstaff or a defensive midfielder, I would welcome it. The chances are that a better player could be found rather than a player without a team. I’ve heard that Notts are training away from Forest’s setup, but I think temporary agreements to use facilities would work. A permanent training ground would be a nice addition once we’re an established League One team.
  25. He’s a very good professional role model. I was sad to see him go, but now I believe it’s for the best. He’ll find a club. His wages might be a sticking point for some teams, but someone will sign him. He’s too good to retire right now; he still has something to offer.
