  1. The significance of the fans’ contribution cannot be overstated. Their presence undoubtedly provides the players with a boost, a sentiment they surely wish to reciprocate. Luke Williams is one individual who truly grasps this concept, and I commend him for inspiring others to do the same. Having a strong squad certainly aids our cause, as does the momentum from a successful promotion. However, when fans feel valued, it goes a long way in boosting attendance and creating a vibrant atmosphere.
  2. Forest Green managed to claw their way back into the match, despite being 2-0 down. One might have assumed it would be a more difficult feat, but they not only had a stroke of luck, but also displayed some excellent football to regain their footing. Troy Deeney was evidently the game-changer. They seemed to lack finesse in front of the goal, but Notts were far from being easy opponents. The goals were not due to a lack of effort from either team; it was simply one of those unpredictable football matches.
  3. The match was quite entertaining, with both teams going from one end to the other. There were instances where either side could have scored more, but I felt that Notts created far superior opportunities. The Forest Green goalkeeper demonstrated his skills with some of the saves he made, but I was let down by our feeble defence and Aidan Stone’s lack of concentration. There’s only one goal where I think he could have done better, but there were numerous times when he seemed very slow to react. It doesn’t detract from the team’s performance or the fantastic victory, but it does seem like we need to manage pressure better without creating more work for ourselves.
  4. Welcome to the fold here on the Pride of Nottingham, @Morten Johansen. Join in and be part of the fun. Or read and enjoy. Whichever you prefer but you will be made welcome.
  5. On any other day, Notts could have secured a 4-1 victory, but we must acknowledge Forest Green’s resilience in their visit to Meadow Lane, proving they are not to be underestimated despite their league standing. Luke Williams’ assessment is accurate, yet I believe our performance merited a win. No two matches are identical; as such, while we might have expected a more comfortable win on paper, the reality of football is that it’s played on grass, not in theory, and there’s always a risk of things going awry. Occasionally they do, but overall it was an impressive display from both teams.
  6. A splendid account of the match, Notts appeared exceptional in the first half against a highly determined team that pressed and pressured every ball. In the second half, they emerged strong but I always maintained faith in the team’s quality. I understand why Luke Williams might feel discontented, but we shouldn’t linger on the goals scored because the opposition was indeed very good.
  7. Notts played in a very organised manner and improved as the game progressed. Salford attempted to make it difficult by defending bravely, but it seemed inevitable that we would score. They had some decent chances, but nothing extraordinary. Notts also had opportunities through Langstaff, Jones, Chicksen and others. Aidan Stone put in a very solid performance.
  8. Reflecting on the recent match, it’s evident that our defensive highlights were limited. However, this isn’t necessarily negative, but rather a sign that we need to focus more on our offensive opportunities. We created numerous chances, demonstrating our attacking strength. Yet, it’s vital that we examine these moments to identify how we could have capitalised more effectively. It’s not about dwelling on missed opportunities, but learning and improving. The few misses we had are viewed positively as they indicate our ability to create scoring opportunities, especially in a challenging game. Going forward, our focus should be on converting the chances we create into goals to enhance our performance and team growth.
  9. It’s great to see him relishing his football and tenure at Notts County. The joy of winning matches and delivering top-notch performances is what any footballer aspires for, and I’m convinced that Dan Crowley has been instrumental in our current form. Following the inaugural match, there has been a steady upturn in our performance, and concurrently, Crowley’s individual displays have become increasingly commendable. He’s a delight to watch on the pitch, and it’s astounding how Notts were able to acquire his services this summer.
  10. It was a moment that beckoned a shot. I overheard a fan pleading for him not to attempt a goal, but they quickly leapt from their seat when it soared into the back of the net. A fantastic strike, we were in dire need of a goal and it certainly elevated the occasion. If only Macaulay Langstaff’s first-half effort or his late header had found the net. It was indeed an entertaining game.
  11. I must give credit to Dan Crowley for recognising the quality of coaching at Notts County. It is reassuring to know that the club is focused on making improvements and striving for success. Crowley has been in excellent form recently and if he continues to work hard, particularly in big games like the upcoming match against MK Dons, he could prove to be a key player in this Notts side. I have been very impressed with his performances so far and look forward to seeing what he can achieve in the future. In my opinion, Dan Crowley is a very good player.
  12. A well-deserved nomination for Luke Williams! It's clear as day that his management style has led the team to experience such a successful run. It's his humble nature that stands out, always crediting the team for their collective efforts. We, as fans, really appreciate that.
  13. I personally wouldn’t read too much into MK Dons and their injuries. We have to prepare for all scenarios as they may suddenly make a return to action. Defensively, Notts needs to block, tackle and clear the ball away from danger. Careful tackles though, as I imagine they may try to gain free kicks in dangerous positions on the pitch. This is one of the games which I have a lot of cautions about, as I think they are good enough to punish us for making any simple mistakes. If we can be 0-0 at half time or at least not have conceded, I will feel a lot more comfortable. It’s important for Notts to stay focused and not let their guard down.
  14. Luke Williams is right, the travelling fans to the MK Dons game can make a big impact. I sound like a broken record, but it’s the liveliest I have known Notts fans for years. Their energy and enthusiasm are impressive, and I am looking forward to seeing how the club does against them on Saturday. The support from the fans can really boost the morale of the players and give them that extra push to perform at their best.
  15. When you have a player like Macaulay Langstaff, it’s an easier decision for the manager. When you see how he performs and gives his all, then in his interview, he speaks of others before his own performance. It’s difficult not to think how lucky we are to have such a striker at the club. He’s been a massive part of taking Notts from being a playoff contender in the National League to promotion and now top of the League Two table. Obviously, it’s down to the team too, but Langstaff firing us forward is a massive benefit. He’s such a threat to the opposition in any game, so it’s pleasing to see him work hard.
  16. It will be a tough test for both teams, but at least Graham Alexander is acknowledging how well we did last season and how Notts has started so far. It’s going to be a lively game. I think MK Dons might be the first team to try to maintain the ball like we do, so the battle for possession will be really interesting to see how it unfolds. I am sure that with Luke Williams, along with Aden Baldwin and Adam Chicksen having experience of what their ground is like, we can go into it a bit more prepared.
  17. Yet again, Langstaff has proven himself to be a vital asset to our team. His relentless drive, knack for scoring crucial goals and unparalleled tenacity make him the fulcrum of the squad. His warrior spirit has undoubtedly propelled us to the top. Keep shining, Langstaff!
  18. I have always enjoyed seeing the Faces of PON. It’s a fantastic fan gallery, and I appreciate the effort that goes into everything at the Pride of Nottingham. @Chris, these are superb. I am delighted that you are back taking pictures. You provide a great service to the fans, so keep up the good work.
  19. Notts looked like they had everything required to get the result, keeping Accrington silent until we actually took the lead. They started pressing and I thought Notts just relaxed when they should have gone for a second. It made the first 45 minutes quite nervous as they did grow into the game very well. In the second half, we re-took control of the game and controlled it well. Despite Accrington having chances, they weren’t that well taken and the way we played it always looked likely that Macaulay Langstaff would get a goal. Sam Austin could have had a decent effort on goal if he had remained on the same wavelength as Jodi Jones. I am incredibly proud of the win, it’s good to be top of League Two. There’s a long way to go, but we are finding form and growing with confidence.
  20. Superb win for Notts today, I thought we dug deep when they levelled the game and showed some excellent quality to get back into the game. The second half was very lively, but Notts did enough to get the win which was fully deserved. I am incredibly proud of the way the team played.
  21. Luke Williams is just a brilliant talker; whatever he says, it just makes me take note, and that’s a powerful thing for Notts. It’s good to see him speaking so openly as he always does. I am pleased with how we are doing; I thought we would get the performances where they needed to be, and this goes down to all the work involved: players, coaches and manager.
  22. Yes, I think so. I don’t think your point is about being negative, but more about dwelling on mistakes. I heard some daft comments, albeit acceptable ones, about Dan Crowley. I think if people can’t get over incidents, then it falls into this category. They are being too critical, and I would imagine it does impact the fun of just experiencing a good time. I hate when Foghorn Leghorns shout nonsense and judge everything as if they were either playing or the manager. I would much rather sit in a quiet area without any atmosphere. Everyone from time to time will be critical to a degree; I think it’s about perspective and balance. If Notts are doing well, the players put in their duties and give 100%, then it’s not the worst thing to let things go.
  23. It very well might be a tough game and one that may be decided by a single goal, but if Notts plays the pretty attacking football we have seen lately, then I see no reason why Notts couldn’t score a few and impress. However, this does depend on how we cope with and handle them as a threat. I do think it’s a game that will showcase where we are right now, something to reflect on further once we are 10 games into the season. I would like to see Macaulay Langstaff score. I think Luke Williams is trying to take the pressure and criticism off him for not scoring by saying he brings more to the team. It’s true; he’s not just a goal scorer.
  24. The exciting aspect for me right now is to gain promotion from League Two, seeing how the performances have improved and how the squad is working hard to put points on the table. Gaining promotion this season would be a huge success for Notts, but I am mindful, as others have said, that it will take time to get any higher. I don’t think it’s pressure that the club needs right now, but it’s fair of Luke Williams to make the comparison. He knows that it’s possible but is focused on the present and not the future.
  25. It is admirable that Connell Rawlinson has publicly praised Luke Williams. Rawlinson’s comments about pushing players to their limits in order to help them reach their true potential are insightful and show a deep understanding of what it takes to succeed in football. It is important to note that there is no age limit to this process, and it is heartening to see such comments being made. Rawlinson’s timing was impeccable when he scored the goal, and the eruption of the crowd and the ensuing celebration were truly gratifying to witness. It is moments like these that make football such a beloved sport.
