  1. It’s all signs that the club and players are all striving for the same purpose. The club is focusing on the right things, and performance-wise, I only think concerns should arise if we are outplayed. These mistakes that are happening are becoming less and less frequent. This is because of the work everyone is putting into training. We need to reflect on this effort and desire to improve.
  2. I am confident that if we play the way Luke Williams knows his Notts squad is capable of playing, the game will be exciting and full of opportunities. Aaron Nemane, with his pace alone, will be a crucial player, as will Jodi Jones. If we feed the ball to Macaulay Langstaff, we need not worry so much about who is on their team.
  3. Personal achievements are always good but the focus on teamwork and group success sets Langstaff apart. He seems to understand that the game is much more than individual brilliance. And this understanding will undoubtedly benefit the team.
  4. I found it intriguing to observe Luke Williams being affected by the goal; nonetheless, he refrained from pinpointing Jim O'Brien as the sole issue. He recognises the concept of winning and defending as a unified team. The equilibrium is maintained without unnecessary commotion, and I appreciate Williams' approach in this regard. Instead of tearing the players apart over a mistake, we should foster an environment that promotes growth and enhancement.
  5. Those were indeed the days of unforgettable memories and an exceptional squad, masterfully guided by the likes of Jimmy Sirrel and Jack Wheeler. The echoes of their brilliance on the pitch still resonate in the hearts of fans who had the privilege of witnessing their reign. The camaraderie, strategy, and camaraderie that defined that era are a testament to their skilled leadership. It's heartening to look back and celebrate the legacy they left behind, reminding us of a time when the club was graced by a team that brought joy to the supporters and etched their names into the annals of football history.
  6. It's truly a proud moment for Macaulay Langstaff, scoring his first couple of FL goals. You can glean from his remarks that, despite the expectations from fans and the intense pressure, he has remained strong and unperturbed. His perseverance is genuinely commendable, as he believes in himself and his abilities, no matter the situation. His comment, "If I'm not getting the chances then I’m doing something right," is a testament to his incredible self-confidence and unwavering dedication to the game. In retrospect, Langstaff's composure, patience, and perseverance have indeed paid off. It's not just about achieving a personal milestone. It's about proving his critics wrong and demonstrating his worth. His journey of scoring the inaugural FL goals will inspire many aspiring footballers to believe in their abilities and work diligently, no matter what the circumstances are.
  7. What stood out to me was the sheer diligence and bravery displayed by the team in the face of Doncaster Rovers' initial pressing. Notts County’s performance reinforces their growing stature in the league. Looking forward to an equally enthralling match against Tranmere Rovers.
  8. Luke William's tactical changes and understanding of the game make him a commendable manager. Also, the recognition of Langstaff's skills and efforts is a big motivation booster, which I believe is important for team confidence.
  9. Very good game, Notts worked Doncaster and made them look like a very poor team. They don’t seem to have the quality to match most of the teams in this league, whilst I can’t see them being relegated. I do see them floating around near the bottom, especially with their supporters being quiet and passionless. What a great win today for Notts!
  10. The thing about most players is that they will be diplomatic and I have respect for John Bostock that he won’t forget his time with his club. Some players move on then act like the previous club is their enemy. Professional players won’t do this, which is a great thing. I also praise Bostock for going to the fans before and after games.
  11. Well, the start was slow and at times we lacked penetration. It wasn’t due to a lack of effort, more so because Doncaster just marked and made any space quite compact. They wouldn’t half clatter some of our players when trying to knock the ball out for a throw-in. I wasn’t impressed by them or their fans, I never heard a peep out of them and that’s just poor in my eyes. Our fans were very loud and made the away game very enjoyable, great game. It opened up in the second half, Jodi Jones showed some real class with his goal.
  12. Welcome to PON, it's good to have you @helcat.
  13. The game has opened up now, Jodi Jones makes it 3-0. What a performance so far!
  14. I would like to see Adam Chicksen out wide, rather than in the middle. If Richard Brindley is fit enough, I would certainly have him in the middle of the back three. I also agree with the article by @TheSkipper that John Bostock is a must because of the height Doncaster have. I suspect that they will be physical too, so we need all the grit we can get. I feel Doncaster are there for the taking and if the squad works hard enough, we should come back with a good result.
  15. Although there are positive aspects to consider, it is frustrating to have controlled the game so much. While I respect the outcome, I believe we should have returned with all three points. Based on the events that transpired, the result is fair. Neither team posed enough challenges to the other. However, Luke Williams is correct in his assertion that we need to concentrate during the game. With patience, success will come.
  16. I am fully inclined to view it as a point earned. Despite our efforts, without a clear opportunity, it's difficult to perceive it otherwise. I believe Luke Williams might have made a prudent choice by introducing a substitution at half-time, perhaps bringing on Sam Austin or John Bostock. Not that a change was necessary, but I sense that introducing a different player could have altered Morecambe's approach. They seemed to have a good understanding of our tactics and were attentive to marking specific players. In my opinion, the game was satisfactory, and I'm relieved that the weather remained pleasant with sunshine prevailing. We will undoubtedly make improvements; I have confidence in that.
  17. I didn't have the opportunity to comment on this, but I found the victory to be exceptional. Considerable effort was invested in overcoming the two setbacks, and the entire squad contributed to transforming what could have been a potential defeat or draw into a win. The goals displayed a high level of quality, and they were all executed very well. The finishing from Grimsby's players was also outstanding. Their second goal was a beautifully executed move!
  18. Indeed, we all would have preferred to secure a victory, and when examining the statistics, it does seem like that should have been the result. However, matches are not determined solely by statistics or what's on paper. Credit must be given to Morecambe for making adjustments that curtailed Notts' ability to create further chances during a period of intense pressure. If we were in their shoes, we'd likely be commending Luke Williams for similar decisions.
  19. Passion, grit, and an unwavering belief in our abilities are what we need to secure victory against Morecambe. I'm particularly excited to see how McGoldrick utilises his experience to pressure Morecambe's defence. This promises to be an absorbing encounter.
  20. League Two may be taking shape, but it's still early days. Momentum can shift quickly, and we've seen teams claw back from defeat in the past. While a win is not imperative at this point, it would certainly boost morale for Notts and settle the initial jitters they might have.
  21. Watching this game felt like riding a roller coaster with its ups and downs. However, it's admirable how the players clung on and didn't give up. Williams should be praised for instilling that resilience in the team. Sure, the drama does get to your nerves, and it'll be great to see more composed performances in the future. I can't be harsh to Connell and well done to Brindley for his excellent game.
  22. It's heartening to witness Jones' enthusiasm and optimism about Notts County's prospects. His assurance about more to come from him for the fans is something we all look forward to. His confidence in himself is contagious and bodes well for the team's future performances. Even with his impressive performance, he remains humble and hungry for more, which is an excellent trait for any sportsperson. Concerning the game, his recognition of the fans' support shows how much he values their contribution. It's wonderful to hear an athlete appreciate their fans so openly, acknowledging their role in the win. His positive outlook, both in terms of personal performance and team outlook, is a breath of fresh air.
  23. The first match is usually a bit static for newly promoted teams, unless they overcome their nerves and really go for the win. I can’t see Notts winning by a large margin; I think it will be close and that Sutton United will be defensively resilient. My prediction is a narrow 1-0 win, with Macaulay Langstaff scoring the only goal of the game. It wouldn’t surprise me if either team ends up having a goal disallowed. Despite my low score prediction, I think both teams will play quite well.
  24. I think Luke Williams has hit the nail on the head when he talks about other teams reverting to a deep block even when it wasn’t their initial game plan. This shows that our intensity and performance can force a team to change their tactics on the spot. What we need now is to find a way to break down that deep block efficiently.
  25. There are valuable lessons to be learned from playing games like the one we just played. Winning all the friendlies 2-0 or 5-0 won’t reveal as much. Starting against a smaller club allows the team to ease back into playing, while the bigger games show where the squad stands and what needs improvement. Without being tested, there can be no learning or progress. Notts have already shown promising signs in pre-season, particularly with how well David McGoldrick has integrated.
