  1. Notts County should play a strong game against York City. Matt Palmer is a key player who holds the ball and distributes it without fuss. If Macaulay Langstaff starts, he should have plenty of efforts on goal. Aden Baldwin, Kyle Cameron and whoever joins them at the back need to work tirelessly to remain alert. Keeping a clean sheet with few efforts on goal would be a big confidence boost going into the playoffs. Arron Nemane, Adam Chicksen, Sam Austin and Ruben Rodrigues will be priorities with the creative aspects. And if needs be, Luke Williams can wrestle each match official to the ground and chase them off if their decision making turns out to be poor. That’s one way to keep the game fair!
  2. Looks like Luke Williams is not only a great manager but also a skilled deer chaser! The players must be feeling confident knowing their coach can handle anything that comes their way - even if it's a deer on the training ground. Let's hope they can carry this agility and persistence into their match against York City at the weekend!
  3. Jim O’Brien’s experience and attitude on the field are truly something special. He brings a level of skill and determination that can’t be taught. His passion for the game and his drive to succeed set him apart from the rest. It’s clear that his experience has shaped him into the player he is today, and his attitude is a reflection of his dedication to the sport.
  4. At 3-2, one might have thought “here we go again” as we’ve experienced similar collapses in previous seasons. But this squad is different. Maidstone United deserve credit for not giving up. From the highlights, it could have easily been a hammering for them, but they turned it into a real game.
  5. This season has been an absolute joy to watch. If it wasn’t for Notts and Wrexham being so closely matched in their battle for the National League title, it could have been just another run-of-the-mill season. But credit must be given where it’s due, to Luke Williams, the squad and our owners. And let’s not forget Ryan Reynolds, who has shown himself to be a true gentleman with his gracious comments about Notts. He seems to have his heart in the right place.
  6. @CliftonMagpie, you’ve provided so much detail that my brain is doing the cha-cha! @super_ram, I am loving it. If you could see me right now, you’d wonder why my tash is doing the tango. ????
  7. If Notts were to pile the pressure on Maidenhead, causing them a nightmare and scoring 8 goals but still not winning the league, it would sum up this club in a nutshell. I don’t see Wrexham losing, so I think the focus should be on putting together a convincing display that eases Luke Williams’ mind and shows the fans that the club is focused for the playoff run. It will be incredibly important to avoid defeats in the final two games, as confidence and morale are always big factors when it comes to achieving promotion. No doubt Maidenhead will want to try to spoil our run.
  8. This is right up my alley. Based on what @liampie has written, I would assume that his career peaked in the 90s since he would have been young before that. Did this striker happen to make it big with his local team or a team from the area where he was born? Can you give us a clue about his qualities as a striker? Playing for 20 clubs could mean he wasn't very good, but that wouldn't limit him much since Notts has had some awful forwards over the years.
  9. Well, the players have the ability to perform both quickly and slowly. Some would argue that a faster pace is best, but I think in difficult games, it's much better to carefully pass the ball around. Matt Palmer should definitely be in your list, @TheSkipper. He's barely put a foot wrong all season and, in fact, since he joined the club. If there's a chance that it might be harder to create opportunities, then Luke Williams may need to consider playing with a second striker, as one is very limiting up top. I don't think Macaulay Langstaff can do it on his own for 90 minutes without some bits of quality thrown his way. It's a tricky situation, but I'm sure Williams will figure it out. After all, he's got a great team behind him.
  10. The beginning of the game was somewhat back and forth, although Woking experienced difficulty retaining possession or making it towards the goal. Notts had a few promising attacks but nothing substantial. In my opinion, Sam Austin had the most favourable opportunity in the first half as the ball came down in an awkward manner, but he was still able to control it. During the second half, Woking was bound to decrease the speed of the game, which is when the chance arose. It wasn't necessarily due to Adam Chicksen and Jodi Jones swapping positions, but rather the pace increased, and the players sensed that a goal was imminent. Before the first goal, there were two or three decent opportunities.
  11. Since the Reedtz takeover, the improvements have been continuous. They've supported every manager, allowing them to do their job. It was unexpected that under Neal Ardley, Notts County would have the season they did. Most fans would have predicted a mid-table finish. However, under Ian Burchnall and now Luke Williams, the squad has been assessed and strengthened. This year's signings have brought the club to greater heights. It's not just luck, but also the hard work of the players and the club's synchronization with the ambition and preparation needed for success.
  12. It's quite amusing to think about a universe where Big Sam never left Notts. He wouldn't have had that tough guy mustache from the 80s, would he? And that would mean I would be a clean-shaven Allardyces or something like that! I don't really believe it, though.
  13. I wonder how the Wrexham supporters feel about the game on Monday? If anyone tuned in to the post-match coverage on BBC Nottingham, they would have heard some valid points being made about the possible repercussions of a loss going into such a significant match. While it may not mean much, given their sizeable team and the top-level skills of their goalkeeper, Ben Foster, it is a point worth considering. In my opinion, we have the superior team and play the best level of football. Nonetheless, I anticipate a tough match for both teams. The pressure is on both sides, though somewhat more so for Wrexham after their loss to Halifax. Notts recognises how difficult it can be to rebound after a defeat when you're at the top of the league, so this game could go either way.
  14. Despite knowing that Wealdstone were going through a bad patch, I still expected them to put up a good fight. Unfortunately, that didn't happen, and their travelling fans were let down by their players' performance. Nevertheless, I'm happy for Archie Mair as he played well, and Frank Vincent and Jodi Jones made a great impact on the pitch. Winning 3-0 is a fantastic result and a much-needed boost for Notts County.
  15. Well done Notts, an emotional day, but a fantastic result for all those involved with this club.
  16. Over their last five games, they've lost three and only drawn one. They're going through a rough patch. It's not my style to criticise teams, but they're a bit unpredictable. They have the ability to fight back, to lead with ease and make it tough for their opponents, but they can also crumble and collapse in a way that makes it difficult to predict which side will show up against Notts.
  17. Notts managed to come away with a win, one way or another. While there may be some controversy surrounding the first goal, there's no denying that their player clearly lifted their arm up for the second goal. It's not acceptable to jump like that at any level of the game, and while some may argue that the decision was harsh, it was well within the rules. Getting three points and a clean sheet is a huge positive for the team, and I think it's a real testament to their hard work and dedication. All in all, it's a great result for Notts County.
  18. @menzinho With six games left to play, Langstaff has ample time to achieve a record-breaking feat that would stand out as one of the few major accomplishments accomplished during this campaign. The prospect of such a remarkable achievement can inspire Langstaff to continue to work tirelessly towards the goal. It is a chance for Langstaff to leave a mark and make a lasting impression, not only on the team but also on the sport itself. With determination, dedication, and hard work, Langstaff can surpass previous records and set new ones that will be remembered for years to come. This is a moment to seize and make the most of, and Langstaff is well-positioned to take full advantage of it.
  19. After last week's draw at Barnet, I was a bit apprehensive about our team's chances against Scunthorpe. However, I was relieved and proud to see them put on a strong performance. Chicksen's goal in the early minutes was a brilliant way to set the tone for the match and gave us the momentum we needed. Langstaff's two goals were well-deserved and highlighted his exceptional goal-scoring skills. Scoring 101 league goals this season is a remarkable achievement and reflects the offensive capabilities of our team. Although we're still three points behind Wrexham, if we continue to play with this level of determination, I believe we have a strong chance of catching up. COYP!
  20. It's crucial that we rally behind our team, regardless of who's playing. Sure, Scunthorpe United may be struggling at the moment, but that doesn't mean we should take it easy on them. In fact, given the current state of injuries and international duties, it's more important than ever to field our strongest squad. If Mair gets the starting nod, we should all be rooting for him to succeed. And if Langstaff starts but is nursing an injury, we need to be extra cautious and protect him as much as possible. Of course, if we find ourselves in a comfortable position, we can afford to make substitutions without jeopardising the outcome of the game. Ultimately, what matters most is that Notts County puts its best foot forward. We need to give ourselves the best chance of success, and that means fielding our strongest possible lineup. So let's all get behind the team and show our support, no matter who's on the pitch.
  21. The game between Barnet and Notts was a tough one, with both teams having the opportunity to win. Rodrigues came close to scoring for Notts, while Barnet almost scored twice, but Brooks managed to prevent them from scoring. Despite Barnet considering Brooks as a possible weak link, the young goalkeeper performed well. Langstaff's goal was a huge relief for Notts, but their performance as a team was not up to their usual standard at Meadow Lane. Overall, I don't feel like we were that bad, but I do believe that Wrexham will now win the title.
  22. I was ecstatic about Notts County's 3-1 victory over Eastleigh. The match was a true test of the team's grit and determination, with both sides going for it, but I felt Eastleigh went in harder with rough challenges. However, the players showed incredible courage and never-give-up attitude in the second half to secure the win. One player who truly shone in this match was Rodrigues. He was an unstoppable force on the field and played a critical role in securing the victory for Notts County. His talent and skill were evident throughout the match, and it's clear that he has the potential to be a game-changer in future matches. Another player who caught my attention was Sam Austin. He was constantly on the move and never stopped running forward or being direct in his approach to the game. He was a constant menace for the opposition and made a significant impact on the match. I strongly believe that he should be given more playing time to help contribute to the team's success.
  23. In my view, while Eastleigh is a good team, I don't think they will be able to match Notts County's quality in this upcoming match. Notts has demonstrated great skill and proficiency in their previous games, and with the added advantage of playing at home, I believe they will emerge victorious. That being said, I am not entirely dismissive of Eastleigh's potential. Every team has their strengths and weaknesses, and Eastleigh has shown in the past that they can be a formidable opponent. However, I think their playing style might work against them in this match. Their tendency to wait for chances to strike rather than being proactive might play into Notts hands, allowing them to dictate the pace of the game and create opportunities.
  24. Best for both parties considering, good luck to Joel.
  25. What a fantastic display of skill, courage, and determination from the magpies in yesterdays game! It's no wonder they came out on top with such a talented squad, including the undeniable heartbeat of the team, Matty Palmer. Alongside other stars of this squad, Palmer drove the team forward with his exceptional playmaking and leadership abilities. From start to finish, the boys in black and white dominated the field and showcased their incredible talent, making it an absolutely massive win for the team and our fans.
