  1. Without knowing the facts about the jet’s eco-friendliness, I wouldn’t be quick to judge. However, it seems as though the voice of reason has prevailed. I don’t understand why some of our fans on social media are so obsessed with Wrexham.
  2. I think having someone who can play on the left and right of the wingback position would be a good signing. I know his name as I have heard it mentioned before, but I don’t know much about his performances or ability. From what I’ve seen of where he’s played, he looks like he would be a good signing.
  3. Despite the fact that our team seemed to have some trouble fully comprehending the game, there were undoubtedly some moments where we shone. It is our hope that by reflecting on our mistakes and working to improve upon them, we will emerge as a stronger and more cohesive unit when the league begins.
  4. It’s going to be the closest insight for us as to how we can compete in League Two; Shrewsbury is a decent team and won’t be that far from our standard. Yes, it’s still down to fitness and settling in, but if we can convincingly win this, then it could be the lift we need going into our season. It ends it off well, doesn’t it?
  5. It sounds like this loan is the start of the young player’s journey into football. Wolves offering him a 5-year deal suggests that they see him as a future prospect. I don’t think they would offer such a lengthy contract to someone they didn’t believe could break into their first team. So, this appears to be quite a coup, even though it’s only a season-long loan. I’m delighted with the addition, as it provides us with some much-needed energy in defence and further cover. I’m very pleased with it!
  6. You can sense McGoldrick's sincere commitment to the team and sport in his comments. His willingness to continuously learn even at this stage of his career is both surprising and admirable. It's not about just the physical work and scoring goals, but also about enhancing the mind and technical abilities. His focus on passing, for instance, will undoubtedly boost the quality of the team's play over the season. It’s the mark of a true pro!
  7. With all due respect to the previous three fan stories, this is by far my favourite because it explains why we have @super_ram on board here, other than him being Chris’s father. I don’t mean this to be taken as if he shouldn’t be here; in fact, I enjoy reading his comments and only wish he would post more at times. It’s not your standard Notts fan story; it’s much more than that, and it’s very nice to read about how he came to like Notts. I always felt we shared a special friendship with Derby, but this goes beyond that too. Thank you for sharing it.
  8. McGoldrick’s ability to remain calm and composed in high-pressure situations is truly impressive. Instead of allowing missed opportunities to affect his confidence, he maintains a positive attitude and continues to focus on finding the back of the net. This level of mental resilience is admirable and sets a great example for others to follow.
  9. The comment about Tobi Adebayo-Rowling being charged up on the bus on the way to games is a wonderful example of the fantastic team spirit that exists within the group. This is the kind of team that younger fans will undoubtedly want to support! It’s incredibly positive to see that the squad is dedicated to intense training and maintaining a high level of focus in their match preparation, while also being able to unwind and share some laughs together.
  10. Hello, welcome to the PON site @JustLikeJuve. This is a good place to discuss Notts.
  11. Alfreton were terrible last season, but I think this time around they will be more structured and able to give Notts a better game. It wouldn’t surprise me if they try to park the bus and counter when Notts don’t have the ball. This time around, it should be a better standard of friendly, as they have made some good signings and now have a less aged squad.
  12. Each friendly has given Notts a different type of test, which, from the manager’s perspective, reveals a lot about his squad. Now that Luke Williams is starting to settle the squad down, having a difficult game will give him food for thought. The team will provide instructions and feedback to the players when they rewatch the footage after the game. I don’t see it as a problem that Notts dominated but only scored once; credit to Boston for holding on and proving to be difficult.
  13. It will be an excellent opportunity for the club to have a good run out against Boston United, who have a lovely new stadium. This match will provide a chance to see how the club compares against a team with a few familiar faces. I believe that Boston will give Notts the most significant challenge out of all the away pre-season friendlies. However, it’s important to remember that this is just an insight for the coaching team. I am hoping that Boston will try to park the bus, so we can finally see if we are creative enough to break down these types of teams without losing our composure. As for the squad, I am sure that Luke Williams has his team in mind. I agree with those who have expressed their desire for the youngsters to get a chance. I suspect that they will until the start of the season.
  14. Solid advice, especially for many of the younger people in this world now.
  15. Welcome to the Pride of Nottingham @BeestonPie. Join in if you get chance.
  16. Concise yet deep insight into what's going on with the players currently. The transparency Williams provides, especially regarding player injuries, is commendable. The minor injuries don’t seem to be a cause for alarm since they’re part and parcel of pre-season training. I appreciate the careful management of player welfare shown here, there's a long season ahead and it's important that everyone’s up for it.
  17. I am less bothered about the friendlies from here on, so I hope the plan is to involve the youngsters again. Give the first team the second half, field the youngsters and take off those who struggle in favour of the main players. Give the lads some more time, as they have done well.
  18. Excellent article, @Simon Clark! Tranmere does indeed seem like a tantalising away day. A good old-fashioned ground with a great atmosphere. The beer tent gathering sounds like a perfect place to dissect the game and hopefully toast our boys' triumph! Also, I love how you’ve recognised the efforts of the volunteers and workers at Salford. Despite the negative press, it’s touching to hear about the folks who strengthen the spirit of local football.
  19. The defender did well against Forest. Hopefully, he’ll get more game time in friendlies to show his abilities.
  20. "The applause from the fans" truly resonated with me too. It shows the spirit and bond of the Nottingham community. The fans, with their support and passion are indeed a crucial part of the club. The ability to respectfully acknowledge each other's efforts despite rivalry adds to both teams' charm and of course the saddening loss our city experienced.
  21. In all these years of listening to Charlie commentate Notts County games, I’ve come to appreciate the depth of his understanding of football and his connection with the club. It's not often that one finds a narrator who has such a bond with the fans. He filled the shoes of Colin Slater remarkably well, which is no easy feat. Charlie, you may be leaving the commentator's box, but you will always be 'one of our own'!
  22. Tobi seems to be one of those people who live life to the fullest and are always happy. It’s infectious, and I must admit that I would have written him off if it weren’t for his performance against Forest. He fit well into the system, and if we can consistently get that level of performance from him while carefully managing his injury risk, I believe he will go on to do great things for Notts.
  23. I wouldn’t dwell on the minor mistake; the squad put in a good effort and gave a good account of themselves. I have no regrets about going; I think the young lads did well and will hopefully flourish with more experience. Fair play to Luke Williams for acknowledging that he distracted Kyle Cameron, but it is what it is. There’s no need to dwell on it.
  24. Ian Richardson is a true gentleman. He devoted a lot of his time to the club and its fans. His leadership skills on the pitch were unparalleled. His relationship with the 1998 squad and Sam Allardyce played a significant role in Notts’ push for that record-breaking season. I cannot praise Ian enough for his efforts. As far as I know, everyone loved him, and that’s how it should be. It would be wonderful to see him back at the Lane one day. I remember his uncanny ability to be in the right place at the right time. His passion for our club seemed immense and personal.
  25. Whatever happens, I won’t be getting away. I would also like to see Notts give a good account of themselves. Last season the players did well, even with all of Forest’s signings Notts should be more than capable of giving them a game. They might win, but it would be negative to lose in the manner we did against Stoke City. This doesn’t mean I condone the abuse some players receive, but what it does mean is this friendly has higher stakes and the pride warrants the very best the players can give.
