  1. It seems like he wants to finish his career with one last good run. I’m disappointed we couldn’t agree terms to keep him here, especially since ending where you started is a rare and special thing. Still, it’s clear he wants to write his own story, and I respect that. I wish him all the best. I just hope he doesn’t let the search for one last bit of glory harm how his career finishes. It’s important to go out on a high, not with regrets.
  2. Kim's story hit me hard. I've seen her around the club over the years and never realised how much she’s actually done. It’s the kind of dedication you don’t see every day. It’s heartbreaking what she’s going through, but typical Kim to face it head on. Wishing her all the strength in the world. She deserves to make every memory on that list.
  3. It was a good message from Alex Bass. Waiting a bit before sharing it was a smart move with how some fans have been feeling. I really hope no one’s giving him a hard time. This is a great move for him, and the truth is not every player will stay longer than a season, no matter how much we wish they would. He left in the right way. Players come and go, it’s just how football works. Thanks for everything, Alex.
  4. The main thing for me is that the club moves forward. I liked the interview, and I think it might change the minds of some fans who had early doubts. Some of the comments I saw on the BBC Sport site weren’t great. People seemed quick to judge and dismiss him, but that probably comes from feeling let down recently. I hope Martin Paterson gets the chance to keep showing what he can do. His first interview came across well and gave a good impression.
  5. I'd love to see Denmark’s U21s give France a good thrashing. That kind of result is always fun to watch. At the same time, it would be good to get some proper news about who the next head coach will be. The wait is dragging on now. It looks like Luke Williams isn’t in the picture anymore. Seeing him working at Bristol’s Airport pretty much confirms that for me. That makes it even more likely that something else is going on behind the scenes. Otherwise, I don’t understand why it’s taking so long.
  6. I find Norburn's approach towards his move to Notts County both sensible and inspiring. Even in the face of offers from League One, selecting our club showcases the allure and concrete nature of our vision. His insistence on the essence of both winning tackles and managing games resonates with a lot of us who have been advocating for a similar approach. This practical mindset, combined with his leadership, promises to guide our younger players on and off the pitch. Integrating someone who recognises fan power and genuinely wants to contribute towards returning the club to its former glory is a boon for us. His presence is bound to be a motivating one, urging us toward our goals.
  7. Does this mean the club has decided against owning its own training facilities? That’s what has been said at the last two fan forums, and I understand it would be a big financial commitment. I don’t think it’s a bad idea, but I find it interesting because investments like this usually signal a change in direction. Sharing with the University of Nottingham makes sense, and hopefully, it’s a step towards funding our own facilities in the future. If the Championship is the long-term goal, having our own setup would be ideal, but this is still positive news.
  8. Notts have taken much of the season in their stride, but there have been more games than just the Salford one where we could have played better. However, we have been more consistent than the Maynard critics suggest. It's not just the Salford game, but I do agree we should have beaten Port Vale in our home encounter.
  9. I like the balance Maynard has found with the squad, and these signings. He’s clearly thought about how they fit into the team rather than just grabbing names. TraorΓ© is a really exciting addition, his pace will be useful when breaking down deep defences. Jatta has been class, and McGoldrick’s experience is invaluable. Midfield is packed with quality, and the defence looks steadier with McDonald in form. Really interested to see how Whittaker develops too, Everton fans rated him highly. If we stay consistent, we’ve got a serious chance this season.
  10. David McGoldrick ticks all the boxes. He's the right man for the job now, but he might not be for next season. How many more campaigns can he continue playing?
  11. I don't think Notts will give a chance. How likely is it that he will end up being released under mutual terms? Then he can find a club to join as a free agent in the National League. I wouldn't rule out a return to Dagenham & Redbridge even if he is injured. It seems more likely than being given a chance in a team he's been clearly pushed out of.
  12. I don't care if Notts wins ugly. A win is a win, and if we get all the points on offer, I would be very happy regardless. I just want to avoid injuries and defeats. The rest should keep us balanced for promotion.
  13. Maynard’s focus on tactical flexibility is spot on. Teams that are predictable are easy to counter, so mixing things up is crucial. The squad’s depth is really starting to show its importance with injuries to key players like McGoldrick and Grant. With Bass’s solid performances and some of the new signings stepping up, I’m feeling pretty optimistic about the Port Vale game. It’s going to be interesting to see how we line up without Jodi Jones, but I trust Maynard’s approach.
  14. From the initial whistle against Bromley, it was clear that Notts was in for a tough match, especially going two goals down so quickly. But Palmer's composure and leadership were crucial in turning things around. His praise for the team, and particularly for Jodi Jones, shows that he understands the collective effort needed to secure such victories. By the way Palmer described the match and his own return, it's evident that his mentality and experience are invaluable to the squad. It's also heartening to see how grounded and realistic Palmer is about the journey ahead. His honesty about preferring to start matches rather than coming off the bench gives us fans a real insight into his mindset. Palmer’s return isn't just a boost on the pitch; it’s a beacon of hope and inspiration for both the team and the fans. Achieving a fourth consecutive win sets a strong foundation for the rest of the season, and with Palmer at the helm, the future looks promising.
  15. If Notts can control the game and stay solid at the back, Fleetwood might have a tough match. If they make us panic, then we could be in for a rude awakening. We have players like Jodi Jones, Dan Crowley, and Scott Robertson who can get things going. We’ll have to see how it plays out.
  16. It’s early in the season, but it's clear that both teams have plenty to prove. Notts has had a shaky start, but the home crowd at Meadow Lane could provide the boost they need. The midfield, particularly in defensive duties, will be critical, especially against a Fleetwood team that’s been sharp lately. Keeping an eye on Virtue and Helm is essential for Maynard’s side. With new players aiming to make their mark and hopefully a tighter defence, I’m optimistic about our chances.
  17. Most people who have been watching Notts for a number of years, even decades, will know it’s never as simple as leading a game. I am not as fussed about the League Cup. It would have been nice to make a great run, but we still have the FA Cup, which could pay its rewards if Notts does well. I think Shrewsbury will welcome the distraction, whereas ideally we would be focusing more on the league. It is interesting to hear Stuart Maynard mentioning wanting to be at that level next season. We have a lot to do in order to be promoted from League Two.
  18. Welcome to the site @Countylad. I am pleased to be welcoming you to PON.
  19. I have been pottering around the last few days, mostly in the garden tidying things up and weeding. It’s been quite nice out, warm but my back garden is nicely shaded. I don’t spend more than an hour at a time doing it. Quick mow of the lawn, then weeding. Break and then sort the edges and overgrown plants.
  20. The first half performance was excellent, and the desire to fight back showed great character. It’s essential to learn from this and move forward. The upcoming match against Fleetwood offers a new opportunity to shine. Keep pushing, Notts!
  21. Tom’s thoughts on Fleetwood’s preparations and gameplay are interesting. The experience of players like Charlie Adam is important, and new signings like Mark Helm bring fresh energy. Even though they were recently relegated, Fleetwood seems eager to bounce back. Their performance in the League Cup against West Brom shows their determination. For Notts, it will be crucial to manage Fleetwood’s enthusiasm and attacking style. We need a strong midfield and active forwards. It’s exciting to look forward to such a competitive match early in the season. Thanks to Tom for sharing his views, it’s always good to hear from the other side.
  22. Such a tough way to be knocked out of the cup! Notts started so brightly, and the first-half goals were superb. It looked like we had the game in the bag, controlling possession and dictating play. The second half was challenging as Shrewsbury came back strong, and unfortunately, our defence couldn’t hold out. The penalty shootout was a tense affair, and it’s always a gamble. I think our team can hold their heads high despite the result. The effort and determination shown were commendable, and there are plenty of positives to build on. We must stay focused and aim to channel this performance into our league games. The season is long, and there will be more opportunities.
  23. Connor Grant’s enthusiasm for joining Notts good to see! It’s reassuring to hear how well he seems to align with the team’s style of play. His comments about wanting to get on the ball and make things happen show he’s ready to take on responsibility in midfield. The fact that he’s comfortable playing both as a number 10 and number 8 gives us flexibility, which is always a plus. I think the club’s ambitions, combined with Stuart Maynard’s vision, could be the perfect environment for him to develop his game.
  24. Nice set of photos. Pleased to see fans happy and wearing our various colours.
  25. Great player, Jeff Astle. He was such a good player coming through to Notts, always working hard on his game. He’s a legend at Notts, but at West Brom, he’s almost a god to them.
