  1. i caught this but forgot to look to see if it had been mentioned here, its great to see two of our youngsters get selected and i hope it gets them some experience. it makes it promising from our front because international football can be a huge benefit to moulding all rounded players.
  2. i could not watch a long cricket game but t20 games are generally entertaining and watchable when two teams are really going for it. proper test matches bore the life out of me, it took me awhile to get into football but cricket just is not the sport that does for me. i can understand why scotland would want to make things shorter with their weather.
  3. i have been worried @Piethagoram, but i am glad you are back. i understood you had more going on but i was really hoping we would see you return. seeing you online made me happier because i really appreciate what you do for pon. please take care.
  4. they are being ambitious and can see that what is currently working might see them gain promotion to league one. after all their years in the national league, its good to see a club like them doing well. rather than the likes of salford city and mk dons. provided they can handle the debts and dont risk the clubs future too much so be it.
  5. luca ashley hamnond is not the answer, he is not ready and generally shows poor positioning. yes, he is better with his feet but even his distribution leaves questions. there have been several games where he has shown his inexperience by just kicking the ball out when having a paddy that he does not know where to kick the ball. if nobody comes forward for it, boot the ball up field and not for the closest throw in possible. sam slocombe has been generally good since coming back, but the ball to his feet is not something that suites him well and we should avoid trying this if he is selected. its all about right the timing. if we want to lose the experience he brings and go for better feet, aidan stone is just fine but he lacks the confidence to seeout clean sheets. besdies, i think we are better choosing a keeper and sticking with them, much like the defence. the main thing is making the most of having the ball, we cant just sit on high percentages and knock it around at the back. at some stage the defence must realise they are better working the ball into an area where someone can continue to take it further and the midfield needs to run with that. if we lose the ball, just try to regain it asap or block it. provided we learn to defend our own net better, the more likely we will be to get some good results. it wont happen like a miracle at this stage tho.
  6. its all confidence at this stage and the fact the season is one we must grind out, i see errors and issues happening. i still dont blame stuart maynard, the players cant help themselves and until we have the time to really strengthen and sort out some of the obvious gaps then things are what they are. its really disappointing to see some fans, a very small minority seem to take joy at away games that we are so poor. maybe its their way of coping but its just hostile and very atmosphere ruining to hear silly comments throughout a game. I enjoyed the game itself more than hearing them. the goals we gave away were extremely poor, i dont think we should be too harsh on scott robertson because hes still young and has largely done well. if we were winning people would be overlooking some of these mistakes and the majority i think would be less critical, its a real shame how this season has ended up but sometimes it happens when you realise you are not good enough for the higher end. the fact some people still believe we should be we are good enough for promotion to league one, but say we are rubbish makes me want to pull my hair out. we are not ready, there is a chance we could have been but not since luke williams left and even then we seemed to coasting out of the frame of it.
  7. before not to have your head cut off when visiting that medieval market. i have no plans for easter, i dont really buy the eggs anymore. they are just chocolate and something nice for kids.
  8. i still feel we are seeing the different jason turner made around the club, the fact players are still mentioning him says a lot too.
  9. its what clubs do though, we were no different when we thought we had the munto millions. we did not even pay manchester city for kasper schmeichel. if they can sustain it, i dont see the issue. people are critical of spending but at the same time are against ambition. for me they are two equal measures. if it was not wrexham, fans would be saying that we paid to get out of the national league ourselves. obviously not at such high cost, but people do forget that we spent big especially the last two campaigns in the National League.
  10. i think this season would end up better remembered if we could beat the team that sent us down, we were doomed them i know but the way some of their fans took joy in seeing us relegated and the way their players did similar makes me hopeful that we can go get all the points. if our players can do that, i think its one thing positive about the ending of this campaign. if we can finish as strongly as possible, it gives us a good chance to pick up in the next campaign. swindon dont have much to play for themselves, so hope our players see how important the win could be for those who watched the club fall to the lowest point in the clubs history. i doubt they will end up seeing eggs on their faces this season, they should be good enough to stay up and i wouldn't wish them relegation either. i just hope to win them, so we can nudge ourselves back up the table a bit more. its the difference between a respectable league finish and being average.
  11. @KB1862 difference with fullarton mate is maynard has helped us not to concede and the performances have been still quite decent, its unfortunate that there is not a lot he can do. fullarton was out of his depth and just went about making it all about him. he seemed to have no relationship with the players, with an attitude that he was better than what he was. the reedtz wont sack him any time soon, where not in a point where it makes sense for them to do it. not with how few games are left to go. i think they will give him a chance to start the next season, its not like he has a lot of influence or say on who the club is looking to bring in. he can only work with them and try to get the best out of them. managers, just like young players sometimes need time. this season will be vital experience for maynard, if he can work with the club to make sure we are more solid at the back and built that way from the goal, defence upwards than he will have a better chance of doing better. the club would make a mistake if they did not try to bring in more suitable players for this level.

  13. @Robbie i cant say i have noticed the dashboard being slow, have you tried clearing the cache for pon in your browser? the post not appearing to post does happen from time, it sort of goes away but i will make sure to let chris know about you say.
  14. welcome to the pride of nottingham, @John Catling.
  15. the biggest issue i felt is that we did not threaten them enough, salford were poor but they controlled things and when they could pounce they did. their opening goal, it came from us being too casual on the ball. people are singling out kyle cameron who has not been great, but we should not be so sloppy to gift the ball away. we had every opportunity to make a game of it and get goals, but we are very cut throat. we over play it and rely on almost walking the ball into the net, we need to stop allowing teams to pack their goal with players because that just makes it unlikely for this to be successful. there are times when we move the ball around and look very good, attacking with pace and determination but the moment we hit a defensive wall it just becomes a problem.
  16. the performance against bradford was very good to see, but they are a poor team. pleased that we kept a clean sheet, dan crowley was the main player for us he was all over it.
  17. the game could go anyway, we have no idea until the game starts but i am not really looking forward to it. i dont mind losing, but its just too much right now. everything is at the opposite end to what this season began like. we have players who can score, assist and create chances. yet we miss that glue in the middle of the pitch that allowed us to just hold onto the ball. in terms of squad selection, i cant see much changing. we had a bench that was quite defensive when we needed forwards, now we have the opposite. i really hope for a good performance.
  18. the first part of the season we could have 6 or more contenders for this, unfortunately the way performances have been as of late. i think dan crowley is the stand out player. i love jodi jones but hes not always at his best, defensively he has been poor for the most part of the season. hes not the only one and yes, he should be in the running for this but for me there are things that just bump his impact down.
  19. i am going to watch notts tomorrow, i will be by myself again and i dont really enjoy the games as much. its not a nice feeling going to games and hearing people who just complain about things we cant change. i am going to distance myself from those who just constantly put the club down if i can. its not everyone, just certain groups of fans but its annoying. sunday, i will most likely be doing my shopping routine for my mum. i have no plans after that as shes going out with my aunt and my dads up in scotland right now.
  20. i think we have just burned out, i know some people will say there are excuses being thrown around but our last campaign was very demanding on the players. we overturned a disappointing opening day but the fixtures are even more piled in league two. we have been hit with injuries, a well liked manager leave which seems like an end of a era. to say how long luke williams was here, it says a lot when it feels like he had been at the club for longer. losing him was very sad to see but i would always wish him well. he delivered something special from a good group of players but i dont think in truth he could have took us any further with the defensive issues we have. the club needs to address this, they need to make sure we have a strong group of commending centre backs. maybe some experience to help the younger lads, but i think players like connell rawlinson may have had their last season here. i hate naming names but i dont think we are any better with him in our squad. his experience ideally would be helpful for the younger lads, but hes just not clicking with us at this level. we need to think about how we can get the best out of lewis macari who will only improve with time.
  21. Birmingham City 1-3 Watford Plymouth Argyle 1-0 Preston North End Derby County 1-1 Bolton Wanderers Peterborough United 1-2 Portsmouth joker Forest Green Rovers 1-0 Sutton United Swindon Town 0-0 Doncaster Rovers AFC Fylde 2-1 Wealdstone Eastleigh 0-1 Rochdale
  22. its saddening to see but i cant see it stopping any time soon. southend have their issues which are similar to torquay. its hard to build strong clubs in smaller areas where the amount of fans you can attract is very limited.
  23. i used to post to others and sometimes i do but i think there is an element of people thinking they are back at school and cant speak to people with a low follow count and stuff like that. i much prefer facebook but i will see about what i can do with my bio and how to help pon. i only really use twitter to engage with pon and encourage others to get involved. those open to commenting and just embracing views are good to see tho.
  24. i thought notts played well for most parts, sam austin has come into the team determined and he looks eager to stay within the mix. this is exactly what you want to see from players who have not started much but have been on the bench. you want them to take the chance they get, so i am also pleased for austin. robertson is a bit clumsy with his challenges, i could see him walking so i think we need to make quicker decision to pull anyone who may get a red card. normally you can trust players on a yellow to avoid making silly decisions. sam slocombe was brilliant and its fair to say he did keep notts in the game. he should not take any faults for the two goals that went in, we needed to defend more bravely and plug the gap robertson left by getting sent off. you either lose attacking prowess or defensive cover. we seemed to lose both.
  25. this is a very good idea @Joshua. we all discuss what is happening and pulling in some external views is an interesting idea. i do think its difficult to single out good performers because those that simply moan just want to complain about everything. i mean those extreme moaners that are very content just being idiots because they are behind a screen and keyboard. sam slocombe usually never can win, so its good that hes got praise. i think when the form is not good, if a player can see he has some appreciation it can be encouraging to keep focused. its also good to see people standing up for maynard, although some issues are down to his management we need to understand hes learning and limited quite a lot.
