A dream move for Hackford. I wish him all the best in League 1 for his new side. I do hope he does well for them & gets some game time but I wonder if he will be loaned out to another club.

Sounds like a tribute act!
If it's who I think it is, I've no idea how good he is as he barely touched the ball.
he might not feature much for afc wimbledon but its a good move, its one step away from the championship and if he does well enough then he will have proved they were right for signing him. he could have came here and not done much, so i think its a good move for him.
This is a sad state of affairs for this famous old Ground, that hosted matches for the 1966 World Cup & staged many famous FA Cup Semi Finals.

Following on from my question of yesterday, asking would the World Be Better Off Without The Human Race? Here's another one for you .
With all the advancements in Technology , Do You Think Humans Will Ever Colonize Another Planet?
The Moon would probably be the first place, but could we Humans Go Further, beyond even our own Universe?
Will we ever be able to build Starships, could we turn Star Trek from Sci Fi into reality?
Technology is advancing at an extraordinary rate especially in AI & Robotics.
I believe that Humans will colonise other planets, but with the help of AI & Robotics.
At the moment it takes about 3 days to get to the moon. I can envisage a space ship controlled by Humanoid Robots going to the moon & building a base there within the next ten to 20 years.
Humanoid Robots will soon be able to build & maintain themselves, so I can see them being sent to the moon in large numbers to prepare a base for humans to go to extract vital minerals from the moon & return them to earth.
It takes about 7 to 10 months to travel to Mars, so I think Humanoid Robots will be used in the same way.
If atomic engines are developed, those traveling times may come down considerably & could enable travel to moons like Titan, Europa & Ganymede that could support life. I still think that travel will be led by Humanoid Robots.
I think that very fast speeds in space could be possible, up to 100K per hour or even more, but I'm not sure Warp propulsion is possible, but of course, you can't rule it out.
not in my life time.
if there is any hope it will be in thousands and thousands of years time, we are only just scratching the service of space exploration. travelling fast enough to make it to a new planet, settle down and learn from the lessons of earth is going to take a lot. i dont think by 100 years we will have made much more progress than we have now, all the data that will be obtained will be from robots etc.

Peter Sellers was a brilliant comedy actor. His films always stood out because they were full of laughs. He inspired many people over the years, and his work still feels fresh today. He’s one of those actors who never goes out of style. There’s nothing rude or offensive in his performances. Even younger viewers can enjoy them because he gets the balance just right.

And Perhaps Bluebottle's most Famous Catchphrase.
OOWWW, YOU ROTTEN SWINE, YOU DEADED ME.
That’s pretty good, is it comparable to last year does anyone know?
I think that figure of approaching 6200 is comparable with last seasons sales. I think it will ensure that Notts will be averaging 10K crowds once again.
Season ticket sales nearing 6200 is fantastic news for Notts.
It's a clear indicator of the loyalty and enthusiasm within our fanbase. This not only helps financially but also brings an electric atmosphere to Meadow Lane. Fans play a pivotal role in the club's journey, and their support boosts the players' spirits.
Knowing that thousands are turning up week after week to back the team instils a sense of pride and responsibility amongst the squad. This is a community-driven club, and these sales figures are a testament to that fact. Let’s continue to support and drive the club forward together, making every game memorable with our extraordinary fan presence.
it does make me wonder why we extended the renewals for a second year running, and still managed to reach over 6k. i guess it could be the cost of living, but either way 6k is great to see. meadow lane should easily reach 10k on saturday home game and should be quite high midweek. i hope this starts to pay off with the coffers and sustainability the club is seeking.
With the Advancement of A.I. and Robotics, a Question to ask could Humans Live forever.? At the moment Robotic human limbs have been developed for people who have lost limbs in an accident or are born without certain limbs. Will there ever be a time in the Real World when a Person's Brain could be installed into a Android Replica of that person, with that persons memories still intact? ? The Brain would be human, but their body would be made up of Robotic parts, therefore making it possible for them to live forever. Well probably not forever as the Human Brain being organic would end up decaying and dying, but if an Android body can be built why not components to keep their brain functioning?
If things such as these become possible the Strain on the World's Resources would become unimaginable, but if Human technology advances to where they can colonize other World's perhaps the idea of living forever might become a possibility?

Uploading your mind into a robot isn’t staying human. You lose what makes you real. As for living forever, like Freddy once said, there's no chance for us.
It’s better to live the best life you can, then die and hope rebirth is real.
You could implant my brain in a cyberman and let me live 1000 years, and yet I still wouldn't live to see Notts reach the second round of the League Cup.
i dont think anyone will live forever, unless self healing is something that happens to the evolution and even then it seems unlikely. it reminds me of the film where robin williams plays a robot that lives beyond his master, and marries into the family in the future as he chases being more human like.
Someone’s clearly having fun with the squad page. It was stuck for a while and didn’t even include Matthew Dennis. Feels like the person updating it forgot he exists.
Kellan Gordon’s been moved into midfield. That’s new. Barry Cotter’s been listed as a defender. Bit unexpected. Milai Perott’s made an appearance, nice to see the youth keeper getting a mention. Jodi Jones has shifted from forwards to midfield. Bit of a change there.
New loanee Jayden Luker isn’t listed yet. I get that they’re updating, but it’s a bit of a mess, and quite amusing to watch unfold.

These look like the little pics that appear in apps such as Onefootball. Not very flattering up close! And should't the coaching team be on there too, or has the kit man taken over?
This season’s photos might show more of the upper body.
Those are last year’s, and I agree, they could show more of the players’ upper half, not just their faces and collars.
I wonder if the person assigned to update the Notts website has other tasks to do other than dealing with the online stuff, & social media?
This whole pre-season feels utterly flat. There is little to be excited about and the silence from the club is deafening.
Club Media
What happened? It seemed like our media team were right at the front of our progression under the brothers and offering fans many insights into the inner goings on in the club in addition to keeping us informed of developments.
Now, we have silence. No dates even mentioned for the club home shirt. The away kit was released by UoN before the club. The Alfreton friendly was barely mentioned up to the game. The cold press releases for departing players are baffling. An end of season message from the owners announced - then ignored since. Has the department been reduced in terms of manpower?
The clubs' media department and fan engagement has declined terribly.
Recruitment
Hardly inspiring, is it? Sell the clubs best attacking midfielder - no replacement. Sell the best keeper in the league - no replacement. Let the best player in the league go because you don't want to pay his wages - no replacement.
The players we have signed, whilst seeming solid-enough, aren't filling anybody with confidence. True, we've not seen them play any competitive football - so we can't judge absolutely. However, they do not replace what we've lost in terms of quality. The current squad is objectively weaker than the one that started last season - and significantly at that. We're a couple of weeks away from our first game and we haven't got a goalkeeper on the books, bar some kid released from over the river.
Then there's the injuries. We have to be a complete outlier in signing players that are currently crocked or have a history of long-term problems. Surely this costs the club financially, as the budget is spent on players that barely kick a ball.
Have we seen this many trialists since the brothers acquired the club? Not since their first season after 'little Al' left us in a pickle. It doesn't point to a team with a data driven recruitment model - it points to a team scrambling around for players.
Are we struggling to attract players? What is a factor in that - budget, head coach, head of recruitment?
CEO and Head of Recruitment
Gone are the days of Jason Turner (RIP) and his excellent communication and transparency with fans. Replaced with - who knows. Montague was lampooned by some of us fans at times, but he seems light years ahead of this new chap who comes with a dodgy reputation - and is so far living up to it.
Then there's weird goings on with Peterborough cancelling friendlies only to then play MK Franchise on the same day we were supposed to play them. Odd behind closed doors friendlies that we are not informed about.
Manager
I'm willing to give anybody a chance. Clearly Paterson impressed in the interviews or which ever metric they are applying. However, it was hardly an inspiring appointment given other options available. This isn't enough to be a downer on its own, we've appointed managers before who were not inspiring at the time - Luke Williams being one - but combined with the rest of the clouds gathering over the club, the manager appointment feels like a contributing factor.
There is a general malaise affecting the club right now - or at least it appears so from the outside. I fear for the coming season if something doesn't change quickly.

I sincerely hope you are right about that. Recent activity suggests we are “in a good place” at the moment. A couple of decent results certainly helps enormously.
The key issues will be, how long do the new guys take to settle in, can we create and take enough chances and where will we be after 8 - 10 games. We’ll have a far better idea about how it’s all shaping up by early October.
I don’t think it’s time to worry during pre-season. I’ve seen us play well in these games before but then do badly in the actual season. And sometimes when pre-season has been rough, we’ve ended up doing better. The club feels like it’s in a good place now, and that should help us. I do think Notts fans get too worried sometimes, but this chat makes sense.
Regarding the media team, to give some perspective, it must be challenging to cope with the level of things they have to do at a professional level. I find my role here challenging, which is why I am very thankful for the help I receive so that I can focus on areas where I can get the most out of my time. I have been critical in the past, but that stems from wanting to see improvements, and I always try to ground my criticism in feedback.
One example is the production quality of some of the fan forums; as for a professional media outlet, it shouldn't capture people in the way or have people talking in the background when a board member or someone else is talking on stage.
I have no qualifications in videography, so I know I wouldn't be able to do much better, but from a professional point of view, there most certainly can be improvements.
I don't like how some fans on social media pal up to them but soon call them out; it's the same with the players. I am sure everyone involved in the club is doing their best, and I see no reason why the media team wouldn't want to communicate with fans. The quiet spells this close to pre-season could perhaps have been handled with content to fill in those spaces, but again, from my experience, there's only so much time, and unless you do a role like this, you have no idea how long it takes to do things.
This said, something is better than nothing, and I am sure the club will take it on board.
I don't personally feel that we should be worrying, not at this stage. Joe Palmer and Roberto Gagliardi need to be given time. It's fine to have your doubts, but only Palmer can really be questioned at this stage. Gagliardi can't really be the person to blame for the transfers when they are conducted by a panel.
It's fair to have concerns and to voice them; after all, it can lead to a healthy discussion.

It's way too early for anyone to be saying that MK Dons will win the title; they've been throwing money to the wind and have struggled for it. I think they will be more competitive, but I don't think I would have them in my top 3.
I also wonder, how on earth can they spend such amounts?
They seem to have a never-ending transfer budget, and for a club like them with little history, I find it hard to see how they are not breaking FFP rules.
You can't fault the Guy's Confidence, but his statement is Arrogant. Like it's been stated nobody can predict what's going to happen during a Season. Injuries loss of Form and a whole manner of things can happen. Perhaps the Main weapon in his arsenal is, the appointment of Paul Warne as his Head Coach, Warne has an Excellent record in the Lower tiers of the EFL, in fact I was hoping he may have ended up at the Lane. But No Doubt Notts couldn't match what MK Dons are paying him. It will be interesting to see if throwing all this Cash around gets the Plastic Dons Promoted, if it doesn't I predict there will be Hell To Pay.
The Watney Cup. Big business sponsorship & Penalty Shootouts. It was actually very influential in changing football in this Country.
Are these changes for the better? In my opinion, no, because the big six clubs plus the rest of the PL clubs make massive amounts of money from sponsorship deals The more popular the club, the more money that can be made.
As for penalty shootouts. A definite no here too because penalty shootouts are a way of depriving smaller clubs of lucrative replays in cup competitions.
It has also changed the game when it comes to finals that are now decided by penalty shootouts if their is no result after extra time. Some teams actually base their tactics on holding out for deciding a game by penalties.
Penalty Shootouts have basically changed the professional game for the worse in my opinion.

He seems like a decent player. I think it's worth taking a chance on him. He could do well and get sold for more money later, or maybe stay and become a proper part of the Notts team.
If he provides a bit more guile and physicality than Jarvis then he’s a decent signing in my view. Need to see him in action before attempting to judge/assess him tbh.
Keanan Bennetts strikes me as one of those overlooked players who’ve slipped through the cracks. British clubs don’t always catch wind of their potential, and I hope joining Notts turns out to be a clever move. It’s still early, so hard to judge him from his time at Cardiff. But I do welcome him to Meadow Lane and I’m hopeful he can grow into an important part of our side.

I don't think we will see a pound for pound replacement for Crowley now. I think that Notts will be satisfied with the amount of cover they have in that position. Whether the cover in that position is as good as Crowley only time will tell.
As far as replacing Didzy, how can you replace him with a similar amount of skill & experience without opening the chequebook? I think it will be very difficult. But I do expect Notts to recruit a striker before the transfer window closes.
Luker sounds like a direct replacement for Abbott. If he’s 75% as effective he’ll be a useful addition. Will he make the starting XI tho’? Time will tell.

If Macca requires a loan team to go to, I can think of one right away. Someone who is without their main striker for a few games. Bring it on 😀 ⚽
Glad to see he still has the positive mentality to get goals, whoever the opposition are, mind you he always was a natural.

I would love him back at Notts, but the way things are, I can't see our owners wanting to pay his level of wages. They couldn't agree terms with Didzy which would have been lower than what Macca gets now at Millwall.
We’ll probably get Macca back when he’s 36 and ready for the knackers yard. ![]()
You can't throw money at a football club and instantly expect it to be a success.
There can be smart investments where a club is purchased and money is spent, such as Wrexham, that rides the wave of a mixture of expenditure and the excitement that the club is going somewhere or at least is capable of reaching new heights. I think their fan base is very much in harmony with the club's vision, which I personally think we lost halfway through our first season back in League Two.
When clubs foster a strong bond with their fans, it cultivates an atmosphere that enhances the likelihood of achieving promotion.
With smart investments and focused recruitment, success can come, but it's never equally measured. A club can't replicate what another successful team has done because it needs to be tailored and molded around individual clubs.
Those teams spending money without much thought and seeking only short-term success are basically gamblers.
There needs to be equal measure, a strong focus on creating a winning mentality that connects with the club's fans. Fans in nature only think short term, at least a portion. The focus tends to be where we are and where they want to be. It needs to be realistic, reflecting on structure and how the club can progress.
A lot of clubs these days look like they don't have a real strategic outline beyond a season.
It could be a good move for Tyler Miller; Bolton should be among the teams fighting for promotion, and they also have room for someone to establish himself as their number one. I wish him well; it's a shame we never had the chance to see how he could perform.
Given the Bass situation and how it transpired, he would have been a good option as #1
Pity we never got to see how Tyler would perform if given the opportunity at Notts. Sometimes, if someone is given the opportunity, they seize it with both hands & become a fans favourite. I do hope he is given an opportunity at Bolton.
People will know I'm a History Buff, it was my Favourite subject at School. Before the written word a Clan or Tribe's History would be told through Stories and Songs. Minstrel's would make up Songs and Stories about the Clans Hero's Life and Deeds. Many Minstrel's would travel across the land entertaining Kings in different Kingdoms with their songs of Heroism and Great Deeds.
In fact it is said that when King Richard The Lionheart was captured by an Enemy returning from a Crusade, he heard the voice of his Minstrel from his prison cell at the Top of a Castle's Tower, has the Minstrel rode by Singing, somehow the King got a Message to his Minstrel, who returned to England and told of Richard's Imprisonment. A Ransom was then paid for Richard's Release.
These Songsters were known by different Names, a Minstrel a Bard who told stories in Song and word and a Skald a Norse teller of Tales., who would tell Stories of the Asir the God and Goddesses of the Vikings. There is a Legend that Talisin the Father of Merlin ( of King Arthur fame) had a Golden voice, a voice which could calm all violent Arguments and Make Great Warriors weep and replace Hate for Love in their Hearts. It is also said when Merlin came into the World he was still born and Talisin heart broken placed a hand over his dead Son's heart and sang a song of Grief and the Gods heard his song and sent a surge of power through Talisin into the chest of Merlin and the Babe's heart began to beat. Another story regarding Minstrel's (mostly men) it is said some would have their Eye lids stitched together on purpose and though they couldn't see, the sacrifice of their sight resulted in a much sweeter singing voice.
Coming forward to the last Century most songs about History are about War or associated with War. It's a Long Way To Tipperary was popular song of the First World War, We'll Meet Again (Vera Lynn) WW II While Peter Paul and Mary's Song Leaving on a Jet Plane is Associated with the Vietnam Conflict. Don Mclean's song American Pie has the lyrics The Day The Music Died. Referring to the Plane crash which Killed Music Legends Buddy Holly, Ricky Valance and the Big Bopper. Finally Heavy Rock Band Led Zeppelin sang the Immigrant Song a Song about the Viking Raids on Britain. And Heavy Metal Rock Band Iron Maiden recorded a song called the Trooper which told the story of The Charge Of The Light Brigade.
Any I've Forgotten let me know in your comments.
Nice post @Wheelbarrow repair man
I don't think the following songs are minstral songs but they were sung by soldiers when facing battle or when marching to & from a battle.
There were British folk songs that depicted British soldiering in the 18th Century, one being "Over the hills and far away" & another "Hey for the life of a soldier"
In the American civil war the soldiers sang songs like "The Battle Cry of Freedom" & "War song of Dixie". There were scores of songs sung by soldiers in the civil war many to increase moral of the troops.
Here's a reminder for those of you outside the UK - if you want to watch Notts on PiesPlayer this season (and haven't already got a subscription), the early bird offer for 140 quid runs out on 2 August. After that the price will go up to 180.
This is overseas fans means of having a season ticket, which I would hope our wider fan base would take up because it is good value. It keeps you in the loop with visual performance and adds to the club's coffers.
The price for the match streams isn't too bad. It's not the same as watching Notts play live, but fans who live outside the UK might find it really useful. I wonder how many people will get the full bundle, or just pay for the games they want.
Adam will be commentating full time alongside Stall this season, Dave Bracegirdle is doing Mansfield. It’s great to see a Notts fan doing commentary good luck Adam.

He’s good, I’ll enjoy listening to him this season.
Thanks to Dave Brace-Girdle for his stint, I enjoyed his quirky style, and he was a more astute observer of the game than some give him credit for
I liked Dave Bracegirdle, both his commentary and his interviewing. Adam Hassell is okay commentating, but I do think he leads to obvious and negative questions when there seems to be zero need for them. I would much rather a Notts fan do it, and for the long term, so I do wish Adam all the best in stepping into the role full time.
Hopefully, he grows in confidence and asks the right questions at the right time.
I’ve only heard his voice when he’s doing interviews. I think he sounds alright and he doesn’t bother me. I don’t usually listen to the radio commentary, but I might try it this season if I can’t go to the matches.

i liked it when i first saw it, but even more in person. i never got the exclusive link notts mentioned in their article and my season tickets barcode lines look scratched or not complete. disappointed in them aspects, but i got the shirt before the game today. no issue with the general sales.
just wished the click and collcect could have been made for the cardiff game, i mean they dont need to do anything fancy.
Definitely one of the best home shirts we’ve had in a long time, especially seeing it as part of the whole kit as modelled by Nick and Tom it looks really smart. I was looking back over some previous shirts and so many of them have been ruined by bad sponsors (which is unfortunate, because I get the sponsorship provides an easy income for the club). I think this season's home shirt will sell out pretty quickly.
This is a nice shirt, I'll be having one. The sponsor is OK but slightly loud for my taste, and I'm not keen on the black square on the back, but the rest of it is nice. Stripes of different widths keeps it looking modern and traditional at the same time.
Looking forward to today's final. It'd be great if we could finally beat Spain in a major football final.
I don't think we're favourites though. Our defenders, Hemp and Walsh are outstanding and Agyemang is a real threat. But Spain have strength all round too and then have the real ace to play - Bonmati.
I watched most of the knock-out games and they were usually tight affairs. The deadlock in Spain's matches was broken by pieces of magic, which is what major international competitions should be all about.
Who else would play the back-heel pass to break the deadlock against the the hosts?
Then in the semi against Germany, the focus would be on her finish from the really narrow angle, but it was the trick to throw off the big German defender which made the goal. Pretending to be flat-footed, letting the ball roll thru her legs beat the defender all ends up and despite being twice the size of Bonmati she never made up the ground. Two flashes of genius got Spain to the final, and that's what we're up against.

The WSL is by far the best female league in the world, and it's reflecting with the improvements made by the English national team.
It's great to see the England Lionesses doing so well, despite not having watched the game my son confirmed we had won (as we played Monopoly as a family). I thought we had won 3-1, but when I checked I realised that it was on pens. Brilliant achievement! It goes to show that if you have a keeper good enough to save them, you should have the qaulity to put them away.
PS. I think some of the Spanish players were a bit cocky leading into the game, claims being far more superior to our ladies.

As people start to grow up their Parents influence begins to mould their Lives, Children are taught right from wrong and I believe it's every Parents wish their Children with have more than they had and have a Peaceful and Happy Life. Unfortunately Parents can't be there all the time and their Kids must learn from their own mistakes, make their own decisions and Live their own lives. As Parents we can only point our Children in the Right Direction, the Rest is Up To Them. It's then that Wisdom from Past Generations may help in certain situations and people begin to live their lives by a certain code. Peoples from the past the Vikings (Norse) Native Americans and the Anglo Saxons (to name just three) have sayings that they lived by. I'm Not saying the Young nowadays should follow all the Advice from the past, but certain sayings or phrases could help them in their lives. Here are few I like from the Norse (Viking) Era.
Do Not Fear Death. For The Hour Of Your Doom Is Sealed And None May Escape It. Don't Look Back Your Not Going That Way. Respect Your Ancestors For You Are The Result Of A Thousand Loves. I Came Into This World, Covered In Another's Blood And I Am Prepared To Leave It In The Same Way. In The Darkest Hour When Demons Come, Call On Me Brother And We Will Fight Them Together. There is a lot of wisdom in those words @Wheelbarrow repair man
I think when most people think of the Vikings they tend to think of them as a war like people who raided other coastal settlements by sea in their longships as depicted in films like "The Long Ships" & "The Vikings"
But when you delve into their history & culture you see they were very skilled craftsmen, fishermen & farmers, they were traders & they had a rich culture that included their own laws, art, & architecture.
The Vikings were ruthless warriors, but they also practised many peaceful pursuits & they have certainly left their mark on European history & culture.
There is still a lot of Viking Influence around today. Certain words place names and the Viking Gods/ Goddesses are still remembered due to certain Days of the Week. The Tribes of Northern Germany worshipped the same Gods has the Norse, but gave them slightly different names, such as the Germanic All Father was named Wotan or Woden, which has a similar sound to the Norse all Father Odin, which is an English version of the Icelandic name Othin. Much as Thor is our present day name for the Norse version Tor. The Viking Gods/Goddesses who's names relate to modern Days of the Week.
Woden (Odin) Woden's Day Wednesday. Thor's Day Thursday. Freya's Day Friday.
Another thing about the Vikings they were said to be a Dirty Race Covered in Filth. This of course is untrue the Norse were very clean, they had a certain day of the week when they would Bathe and bowls of warm water were placed on tables, where a Viking REKKR (Warrior) would wash away grease from hands and Beards during a Feast. Each Warrior would also carry a Comb, which he would use to comb his hair and beard after battle, after removing an enemy's Blood from his skin and clothing. All Norse people would also wear lots of Jewelry Rings Bracelets Torcs and Brooches. and Brightly Coloured Clothing, in their Everyday Life.
Women were also held in high regard, a Woman could own land, have Slaves and Servants and could Divorce their Husbands, very advanced thinking for the time. Women were also taught how to fight and use many weapons, because when their Men were away Raiding, it was up to the Women of a Viking Settlement to defend their Children and homes from any Raiding or Outlaw Band. Perhaps the most Famous Woman Warrior was Lagertha , first wife of Ragnar Lothbrok. It was said her home was protected by a Huge Dog and a Bear which Ragnar had to overcome, before she consented to Marry Him.
Thanks for the information about the Vikings @Wheelbarrow repair man . It's great to learn that Schools are teaching about the Viking origins, their way of life, social hierarchy, & culture.
A key aspect of the curriculum is the Viking invasion & settlement in England, including the Danelaw region.
School Children also learn about how the Vikings impacted Anglo-Saxon society, including changes in place names & the development of England.
Dane has gone to town with this; it's always funny to see what ends up being included. Eyes down! 👀
