Morning all, no football today so what are you up to?

We haven't got much planned apart from tonight we will be going to our sons for tea, he wants to try his cooking skills on us. He's recently come back from holiday in France so it will be good to catch up with them.

He's promised us tapas but I thought they were a Spanish dish, oh well should be interesting, if you don't hear from me for a few days I've got gastro enteritis.

Good morning all, it seems very slow on here lately, are we all on holiday. Come on folks lets hear from you what are you up to today?

It's quite a bright morning here, we've just had our breakfast in the garden so its not too cold out there.

We have a wedding to go to today, the son of an old friend who I have known since he was a little boy and used to play with my two sons. Looking forward to catching up with a lot of old friends.

Hope you all have a good day.

Has now apparently left Ilkeston Town after a very short stay and signed for Worcester City, higher in the leagues I believe and probably nearer to where he lives.

Euro qualifying continues today. Wales are on the verge of qualifying. They are away to Cyprus tonight. Here's hoping they win. They haven't qualified for a major tournament since 1958.

I know Mansfield made big changes last night but a win is a win isn't it?

I'm feeling happier, the defence seemed to cope pretty well apart from the late penalty it could have been a clean sheet, the midfield are creating chances galore and last night two strikers scored, so all in all it seems things are being to click.

What do others think?

Did anyone else get the email from Notts about a hospitality package, it was quickly recalled and followed by an apology because every bench members email address was showing.

I had to scroll through hundreds of email addresses to see the message. The club apologised on behalf of the board of directors and said it was an individual member of staff and retraining of all staff would be arranged.

Whoops, so much for data protection.

Does anyone have any useful suggestions for the site? Once I return from off my Holiday, I plan to implement some changes. Nothing major currently, for example I won't be reducing the forums because there's ways around visiting each - which are good solutions.

*Alternative skin (to be added - lo-fi version)

*Promoting features, how to remove sigs, make use of the settings etc.

Anything else?

Will Notts be up for this? can we get revenge? I am curious as to what will happen if we lose again, I know its early days and we need time but confidence will be at an all time low if we get beaten by our closest rivals again so soon.

@PTID1862 Why didn't you warn us all you were in the midlands? We'd have kept off the roads!

Rush-hour traffic was disrupted after a lorry struck a bridge.

Police were called to the A606 Melton Road in Tollerton after the top of a truck is believed to have hit the bottom of the bridge.

Although the lorry pulled to one side of the road, it affected other traffic by causing a blockage to the road.

The incident happened just after 8am.

A Nottinghamshire Police spokesman said: "We were called just after 8am on Wednesday to the A606 Melton Road at Tollerton.

"A lorry struck a bridge, but has pulled to one side of the road."

Hi Folks,

It's September 1st so I begin thinking about football again, even though the cricket season isn't over yet.

What a summer, the Ashes won. @Blackville and I were lucky enough to see all the play at Trent Bridge, the first time I've been there when we actually won back the Ashes - and we were sitting next to all the Aussies!!

@Blackville gpot Stuart Broad's autograph all over the scorecard of the first Australian innings when SB took 8-15 and they were boewled out before lunch. A memory that will stay with me forever, especially as my Aussie mate was sitting next to me!!

Now for some rich entertainment in the winter months...

Rumoured to be coming back.

Would you have him?

For me he's a very good player and his set pieces are good. However, looking at our squad, do we really need another left back? I know he did a job for us filling in at CB, but really he's a LB.

Pinch punch first of the month. Apparently meteorlogically speaking it is now Autumn, how depressing!

Today it's back to normal for us as our grandsons will be here soon after their two week holiday, so we will have to occupy them somehow until mum gets home from work tonight.

Have a good day everyone.

Day off. Going to visit my Mum in the nursing home. She's 80 in October. I'll be happy if I make 80!

Saturday's fixtures:

Ipswich Town v Brighton & Hove Albion

Sheffield Wednesday v Middlesbrough

Bury v Oldham Athletic

Swindon Town v Sheffield United

Hartlepool United v Carlisle United

Luton Town v Portsmouth

After the first few games it appears to me that we have a side capable of performing at a higher level in the top half of league one and possibly the championship but is that what is needed to get us out of league two.

Are we too good for this division, do we need players that can handle the Mansfields and Accringtons or am I talking rubbish what do people think?

Since I am not watching Notts, much of what I read describes Noble as very hot tempered. Much praise has gone into his work rate and attitude so far this season but has he really learned?

I hope this is one of few suspensions for him this.

Also does anyone feel his sending off lead to us conceding?

I am not trying to blame him but I would like to understand, at this stage it's unclear to me and I felt it was worthy of being discussed.

Back to the bread and butter stuff after last night's trip to Villa. Morecambe are one of the clubs tipped to struggle by the bookies.

They have an identical record to us. 1 win, 1 draw, 2 defeats. They managed a 3-3 draw at Portsmouth last weekend, a game they should have won really, they lead 3-0 after 38 minutes but allowed a last minute equalizer to 10 man Pompey. Before that they had only managed to score once in their 3 league games. One goal proving enough to beat Accrington at home.

I expect this to be a tight game. Morecambe aren't blessed with prolific goalscorers but we don't exactly have a tight defence. I can't see us keeping a clean sheet. 1-1 draw for me. McLeod.

As the article says, a warning for comments made about referee..

The more interesting bit for me is at the bottom.... this:

The former Tottenham skills-coach also criticised several County players for choosing to stay put despite them being deemed surplus to requirements at the club.

The Magpies have signed 19 players so far this summer with the transfer window due to shut on Tuesday.

"Last year I told them they were good players, but I have no place for them, so they can be influential at a lower level," he said.

"But sometimes they only want to sit and take the benefit of the salary. We have too many players who I can't use.

"If they are not influential in a specific strength they will not play at Notts County."

Who exactly are we on about here? Are we talking about McKenzie? is that why he isn't playing? Who else?

How about this to scare your neighbours half to death.
