Review of the year. What were your best three sporting moments/matches that you saw live in 2015? I'm afraid none of mine involve NCFC!

1. Thursday morning of the Ashes Test at Trent Bridge - Australia all out for 60, Broad 8-15.

2. Being with my 11 year-old son @Blackville to see Borussia Monchengladbach beat FC Bayern Munchen 3-1 in December, and 1.FC Koln 1-0 in the Rheinderby in February.

3. The Super League Grand Final at Old Trafford.

I must say I've grown to really like this sport, the more I understand what's going on. Does anyone else on here share my view? Who do you support, I'm a Cheesehead, suprised that Green Basy are still in the play-offs.

I've only just learned about his death, very sad - it seemed he was planning to revive his career at the age of 69.

Rest in Peace David Bowie

It seems Dougie is quite close to Jamie, as I just read about the latters departure from Bolton Wanderers. I'm not quire sure recommendations from pally people are always the best way forward, as it's not like they'll say anything bad about them right? Yet what baffles me is why Dougie Freedman would call in Match Talk in order to further praise his friend.

Did anyone hear this?

I hope now Jamie's been appointed, we focus on solely on ourselves and avoid linking up with Forest (unless better out of favoured players are an option).

That's one worry of mine, we'll end up being sent inexperienced youngsters - rather than finding the experience we need. Yes Louie Laing did brilliantly, and it's that class I would welcome but just the whole feeling makes me unsure.

What do you make of it?

Would this explain as to why he travelled to Plymouth? Force the hands of the board into considering him for the job?

Welcome to the Pride of Nottingham @Pattysman1, care to share a little bit about yourself?

Hope you have fun and join in with us.
You Pies!

I thought of one positive that comes from the appointment of the new manager. At leat it's the right number of syllables to sing "Jamie Fullarton's black and white army", I wonder if we will ever hear it reverberating around Meadow Lane.

Plus my iPhone now recognises how to spell Fullarton, there you go two pluses to cheer you all up.

At last some good news, with the unveiling set for April.  It's been a long time coming, now I can't wait to see my name on a plaque.

I've seen a lot of talk about relegation on this board. As infuriating, perplexing and depressing as our choice of manager is, I don't think we should be worrying about going down.

Right now we have 30 points, 9 shy of the play-offs and 13 clear of the bottom two. The bottom two have won six games between them and will have to improve significantly to even get to 40 points. With almost half the season to go, we already have 30 and consistently beat teams outside the top 7 at home. The situation isn't like last season when we were clearly the worst side in the division for a big chunk of the season; this time there are a lot of teams worse than us.

I'm depressed that I even had to look at the bottom of League Two again to be honest, I hoped we had left those days behind us. And as poor as Derry and Moniz were, we would probably be in a happier place had we held on to them and allowed them to learn from their mistakes. But in the rather likely event that Fullarton fails, he'll be gone in the summer, barring a disaster we'll still be in the same place and we can but hope that the powers that be at our club appoint an experienced manager and allow him to do his job.

Let's keep all this in perspective anyway. In 1.1 billion years the sun will be 10% more powerful than it is today, causing the oceans to evaporate and ending life on Earth. We will all be dead and Nottingham and Notts County will be no more (although Mike Edwards will probably still be wandering around the ruins of Meadow Lane expecting to get a game at centre half).

How many here gamble via betting?

I very really do now but I do like basketball for betting, which I once managed to work out a system a few years back with contributed £250+ to Christmas. I stopped betting via betfair after I started getting a lot of deals etc - yet I have tried taking up regular betting via bookies.

I'm just not good at it. LOL

The bookies today stated Jamie Fullarton has all of a sudden gone from nothing to 4/6 to odds on for the job.

The bookies are apparently reported running scared as someone this morning went in a placed a massive amount on him the bookies think inside info has bein leaked.

so either someone knows something about him bein appointed or someone has to much money but the bookies think inside info has bein leaked

I can't think that it could be put any more sympathetically than this by AWM03 on the Mad forum. I hope s/he will forgive my copying of their point of view.

Generally don't have a problem with taking risks, regardless of your position because every appointment should be with a long-term view in mind (unless you've recklessly bet the house on promotion or something) but this is just bizarre.

There's nothing to indicate this fella is good - his fans appear to be the rather despicable Phil Gartside and Dougie Freedman who is clearly his best buddy. You've got players from two of his former clubs openly slating him on Twitter within 30 minutes of the announcement, you've got stories all over the internet about him being sacked by Bolton because all the players hated him.

I don't doubt his interview was impressive, he's probably prepared a few powerpoint slides and done his prep but when appointing a rookie, the majority of your homework should be done on talking to people he's worked with about his coaching ability, man management skills etc...and they seem to be severely lacking - which begs the question if they asked anyone at all.

I'd give anyone a chance. I wasn't too upset with Kiwomya (although it was always clearly a bad appointment from the off) because he had a good record as a youth coach, I was fine with Derry because of his reputation - I can't find a single thing to point to Fullarton being a success or a reason to think he's worth rolling the dice on.

I've often been accused of being a nodding dog on here and frankly, I refuse to be anti-Trews, I think they're great - I think they've been superb to the club during their tenure with the money they've chucked in, I think they're thoroughly nice and pleasant people who care about the club. I can't really ask for more. I think it's abundantly clear now at this point (maybe I'm a little late to the party but some certainly jumped the gun and will be delighted to be proved right) that they've got absolutely no idea what they're doing. If this Fullarton gamble pays off, it won't be down to some inspired recruitment formula, it'll be down to blind luck. It's absurd.

According to Uncle Colin the new manager has been chosen and will be announced on Monday.

Will the club do the honourable thing and give season ticket holders a refund on the remaining games? I have feel I have been cheated and lied to, next manager must have league 1-2 experience , blah blah blah, what  a fookin joke

Name your top 5 favourite ex Notts players, and why?

It includes Lee Clarke and Nicky Eaden, according to some sources.

Well at this moment I'm not to sure hense why I'm asking your guys views there has been such a ahhh season so far frustrating at times. So I'm going to reserve my answer till i hear your guys views

It's FA Cup 3rd Round weekend but because of our inept display at Salford, we will be in league action this weekend. We drew 1-1 at home against Accrington in August. Notts played very well and should have been 4 or 5 up before Noble got sent off and the inevitable late goal to level the game.

Stanley are absolutely flying this season. Instead of being the relegation candidate many thought, they are pushing for a playoff place. They are 7th in the table with 39 points (9 more than Notts and they have 2 games in hand). They have scored 38 goals (1 more than Notts) and conceded 26 goals (a whopping 18 less than Notts). Again it's easy to see why Stanley are 7th and Notts aren't.

Stanley have lost 2 of their last 5 games. They lost against promotion chasers Portsmouth and Northampton. Given the opposition, this is no disgrace. They won 3-2 at Mansfield in their last game.

Stanley are an exciting team to watch. They play a 4-4-1-1 formation. They mix pace and power with 100% commitment. Notts could learn a lot from them. Jason Mooney in goal has been superb this season. Their defence is solid. Matt Pearson at RB is one to watch. He's getting better and better. Conneely & Crooks in CM are excellent. Crooks especially. He'll drive forward at every opportunity. Josh Windass plays just behind Billy Kee and he has been a sensation. Stanley will do well to keep hold of him. Billy Kee is flying. He's joint top scorer with 10 goals. These 2 have to be kept quiet.

I have huge admiration for Stanley. They may have a small budget but they have a fantastic manager in John Coleman and they have a wonderful club spirit. They are in a much better place than Notts right now so I'll go for a 2-1 home win.

Assuming you had a magic wand, who in your wildest dreams would you want as Notts manager? The only caveat would be that they are alive and kicking.

For me it would be Diego Simeone at Atletico Madrid. What he has achieved in the last few seasons, on a comparable shoestring to the likes of Barca and Real Madrid is IMHO nothing short of brilliant. He has built a squad of players who are organised, disciplined and will quite frankly run through brick walls for him. Also the fans love him, he's passionate and really cares about his players and the club. He has also proved their La Liga title and Champions League final were not a flash in the pan as his team continue to challenge strongly for both this season as well as the Copa del Rey in Spain.

The only negative would be him getting David Beckham sent off in the world cup finals but maybe we can put some of that down to our David's youthful petulance at the time!

The friend system has been replaced by the new 'follow' method, it's pretty much still the case of add your friends but with the neat twist of gaining notifications when they post certain content.

Now, this can be annoying so I warn you.

When you click to follow someone via their profile, make sure select which content (if any) you would like to receive notification on. Believe me, this can get very annoying if you are constantly alerted that x y and z have all started twenty new posts or post x times. People who are used to Facebook will know exactly what I am getting at, so be sure to select the right settings and if at first you don't succeed doing this - simply click the green 'Following member' button.

In the screenshot I am attaching, you will see two tick boxes.

follow1.png.8910b1d6d0efd032ca3f2bfcfba1

Until 'Receive notifications for all new content posted.'

It will then display the follow options, so you can get the notifications in which you would like - or simply deselect it if you are not bothered about receiving any at all.

Hopefully by sharing this, it will promote the feature and help avoid members receiving notifications which they are not interested in.
