Jodi Jones Reflects on New Contract and Future Ambitions with Notts County

PON_News

Jodi Jones, Notts County's dynamic winger, recently signed a contract extension that will keep him at the club until 2027. Speaking after the announcement, Jones expressed his excitement about his future at Meadow Lane, emphasising how important this new deal is for him and his family.

"I'm delighted," said Jones. "It's fantastic news for me and my family, and I'm guessing the fans as well. But no, I'm buzzing to finally get it over the line, and I'm ready to push on now."

Jones, who has become a fan favourite at Notts County, admitted that the process of negotiating the contract took some time, but it was a positive experience. "Obviously things sometimes take a while, and, like I said, I'm just buzzing this is finally over the line."

The Malta international has been at the centre of transfer speculation throughout the summer, but he was quick to downplay the rumours. "I think when you have a good season, there's always going to be a bit of speculation and a bit of interest, but I was just focusing on coming back in pre-season and trying to do better than what I did last season."

Jones' performances last season, which saw him crowned the Professional Footballers' Association League Two Player of the Year, have made him one of the standout players in the division. His ability to adapt to different positions on the pitch has been key to his success, with new head coach Stuart Maynard moving him from the left to the right wing. Despite the change, Jones remains confident in his abilities.

"The right side is my natural position," Jones explained. "If I was ever adapting, it was the start of last season when I moved over to the left. I had a good season on the left, but the right has always been my more natural position. It gives me more flexibility to go inside and out, and I back the manager completely."

Jones is not only focused on creating chances for his teammates but is also eager to add more goals to his game. "I love getting assists, but I know I need to have more goals to my game. If I could cut my assists in half and add goals to that, I think that's something I would do. It’s something they've been working with me on since the day they came through the door."

With the new season underway, Jones believes the squad is well-equipped for success. "We've improved in areas that we needed to improve on. You can just see from training, the way we're playing. We're really confident and excited for this season."

Jones is also realistic about the challenges ahead but remains optimistic about Notts County's promotion push. "It's early doors, so you can't get too carried away, but we just take each game as it comes. We want to keep clean sheets as a team, we want to score goals as a team, and I think it's going to be a very exciting season for us."

With his new contract secured and his future at Notts County looking bright, Jones is determined to repay the faith shown in him by the club and help lead the Magpies to promotion. "Notts County isn't a League Two club. We've got big ambitions, and I want to be a part of that."

Absolutely over the moon to hear about Jodi Jones' contract extension. His impact on the team last season can't be overstated, he was a truly standout player. The fact that he's committed to the club until 2027 shows how much faith both he and the club have in our future together. I particularly appreciate his comments about focusing on adding more goals to his game. This kind of attitude is exactly what we need if we're aiming for promotion. The versatility he brings, being able to switch wings effectively, adds a lot to our playing style. Here's hoping he continues his stellar performances and leads us to greater heights.

It is wonderful news that Jodi has signed a new contract, he is clearly settled at Notts & he loves the Club.

Him signing has also shown that he is confident that Notts could challenge for silverware this season too.

Jodi is such an exciting player to watch, he has so much skill on the ball & opponents fear him.

He has started the season so well & he has started as he left off last season.

And we also learned that he likes being on the right side as well as the left side. So that gives Stuart more options too, & will keep opponents guessing where he might play on the day.

He’s clearly level-headed. I like that he’s focusing on improving, and it’s that drive which will get the best out of him. I think the decision to sell Aaron Nemane might have paid off, as we are now stronger defensively, and it frees up the right for Jodi Jones to be more threatening on goal. I am very impressed and delighted that he’s agreed to a new deal.

I never doubted he would extend his deal. I understand how some fans feel it doesn’t mean much, but it does. There’s heaps of positivity oozing out of what Jodi says. It’s a sign of his commitment, enjoyment of football, and focus on earning Notts another promotion. Players who experience this usually have the drive to go again when they are of the quality we see in Jodi. The Reedtz brothers need to take credit for some of this, along with Stuart Maynard, who has noticed he’s far better in his natural position. Jodi has been quality so far this season, and I hope it continues. I am sure it will with the attitude and focus he shows. Proud that he’s a Notts County player!

You have to love Jodi Jones. His attitude is spot on, and you can see the professionalism in his comments. What a quality signing he has been. His loan deal and eventual permanent signing have been great. The worry about him leaving now is quite similar to when he was a free agent, but time and time again, he has shown his commitment to Notts. I really think this deal is very promising, as it shows intent not only to retain players where we can but to create that spark to chase promotion.

I'm delighted that Jodi Jones has signed a new contract with Notts. His performances last season were exceptional, and he truly deserved the Player of the Year award. His adaptability, moving from the left to the right wing, showcased his flexibility and skill. It's reassuring to hear he's focusing on adding more goals to his game, which will undoubtedly strengthen our attack.

The faith shown in him by the club is well justified, and I have no doubt he will repay it with superb performances. His commitment until 2027 is a huge boost, and I’m confident he'll be at the heart of our future successes.

I have taken note of what Jodi Jones said in his post-match interview, and I believe his hard work will pay off. The fact that he wants to score more goals will only benefit Notts, but he doesn’t need to reduce his assists. He has both within his ability. Perhaps at times, he just needs to be a bit more selfish instead of always thinking about his teammates. He loves to assist and score goals, so I welcome him to take more chances.

Jodi Jones is showing how mature he is. It’s easy to get distracted by offers and interest. That desire and ambition can really turn your head. But what I have taken from reading this is that Jodi is focused on where he is now and how he can help Notts to the next level. The contract is all positive, a sign of commitment, but his words show even more signs of that.

Not only is he a superb player who puts in magical performances and is entertaining to watch, but Jodi Jones also has a great attitude. What a figure to have at Notts County! It’s important to challenge yourself, and that drive is admirable. However, I do think he might be a little critical of himself. He’s been amazing since joining us. He was a player who shined against us with the Sky Blues. I am thankful he has committed and hope to see him score many more goals for us.

This contract extension is massive for us. Jodi has been top-notch, and I’m glad he’s committed to Notts County. His performances have been outstanding, and he brings so much energy and skill to the team. It’s not just about his talent on the pitch, his positive attitude and dedication are also invaluable.

Having Jodi on board for a longer period gives us stability and confidence. It shows that he believes in the club’s vision and wants to be a part of our journey. This commitment will surely inspire his teammates and the fans. I’m excited to see what the future holds with Jodi continuing to play a key role for Notts.

I understand that with the club giving Macaulay Langstaff a new deal and then accepting a bid for him, it may cause some caution about the news of Jodi Jones extending his stay. However, I think the news is positive. It takes a worry off our shoulders about securing it at a later stage, which might be harder. Who really knows, because Jones does look settled at Notts County.

His type of player will have an impact on the squad. Players like to be settled, and I would like to think it shows that the club is intent on retaining quality where possible. It’s a boost, which should allow Jones to continue focusing on his performance. I don’t think some fans realise how important it is for players to feel at home at a club. Yes, we will see him leave at some stage, but for now, we need not worry. Just enjoy his magic and be thankful we are seeing him in our colours.
