Lewis Macari on Adapting to Notts County’s Playing Style: A New Way of Playing

PON_News

Last week, Notts County secured the services of Lewis Macari on a permanent basis, marking a significant move for the talented player.

In an interview that goes beyond the exclusivity tag, Macari candidly shares his thoughts on the challenges he faced initially, the unforgettable debut goal, and the decision to commit to the club permanently.

Looking back at his early days with the team, Macari admits to the struggle of adapting to a new playing style. "It was a new way of playing for me, and the gaffer has his own brilliant style. It took me a little while to get used to it, but since then, it's been a lot better, and I'm really happy with how things have gone."

The defender, known for his enthusiasm, talks about the nerves and excitement surrounding his league debut, especially scoring a goal on that occasion. Macari describes the feeling as "unbelievable" and expresses a keen desire to recreate similar magic in future games.

When discussing the uniqueness of his debut goal, Macari acknowledges the rarity of attempting a first-time shot from outside the box. "I just thought, 'Hit it as hard as I can and as sweet as I can,' and it just rose into the net. I still can't believe it to this day, but hopefully, I can try and do it again."

Touching on the intensity of Notts County's playing style, Macari shares that it took some time to adjust to the quick pace and high pressure. However, he emphasises his enjoyment of the style, stating, "We want to blow the opposition away, and that's something I've had to get used to. But I really enjoy it, and I think I've got used to it now."

In discussing his decision to make the loan move permanent, Macari reveals his early enthusiasm for the club, even during periods when he wasn't in the squad. "I just can't wait to play," he says. After getting his chance, Macari felt "properly a part of the team" and expressed his commitment to helping the club progress, stating, "I want to be the one to help take it up."

As the conversation unfolds, Macari reflects on the learning curve of playing regular league matches. He highlights the importance of adapting to different playing styles and pitches, citing the valuable lessons he has picked up from the coaching staff.

In conclusion, Macari expresses his eagerness to continue improving and contributing to Notts County's success. With the permanent deal finalised before Christmas, he emphasises the relief of having the uncertainty behind him and the focus shifting entirely to football.

Lewis Macari's journey at Notts County reflects his determination, adaptability, and passion for the game. He looks forward to making significant strides in men's senior football, leaving an indelible mark on the team's journey.

Macari is a young, determined player who's truly loving his game. His transfer to a permanent place in the team is no surprise. He’s found a home at Notts, and the club has been accommodating. His mention of the gaffer's distinct style and bouncing back from his initial struggles speaks volumes about his resilience and ability to learn. As they say, where there’s a will, there's a way!

His first goal was fantastic. It’s unfortunate that he had to leave the game against Walsall due to an injury. He seemed quite strong, especially when it came to tackling. He brings a unique element to our defence, and we hope he continues to develop.

I appreciate Lewis Macari’s mindset. The fact that he left Stoke City for more playing time says a lot. Once we sort out our defensive issues, I believe he will play a crucial role in advancing the club. He has many years to improve, and his remarks about Luke Williams are telling.

it took some time for him to feature, i like that luke williams wanted to bring him up to speed but now hes ours. we have all the more reason to be playing him, its the way he will improve and be able to contribute more towards notts. i think its a good signing and once he's back available, i hope to see him in the starting lineup. hopefully, he will score a few more goals before the season ends but his debut goal was a screamer!

I think what strikes me the most about Macari is his humility combined with a clear passion for the sport. The way he talks about his experiences, the learning curve of playing regular league matches, the initial challenges of a new way of playing, it's all very relatable for anyone who's tackled change and growth. His mental fortitude alone is inspiring, not to mention his evident skill on the field. Even when he wasn't in the squad, he remained positive and eager to contribute. That's a sign of a committed player. I for one am excited for this journey he’s begun with Notts County.

Lewis Macari has really settled into the squad, hasn't he? His comments about the intensity of Notts County's playing style are spot on. It's fast-paced and high pressure, but that's what makes it so exciting!

I can't wait to see what else Macari has in store for us. His debut was smashing, and if his performance since then is anything to go by, I'd say we've got a real talent on our hands!

I’m really pleased to see Lewis Macari fitting into the squad so well. Adapting to a new team and new playing style can be quite a task, and he’s handled it brilliantly. His perseverance and passion really shine through in his interview. The lad was clear about wanting to develop his game, contribute to the team, and win us some matches.

Striking goal aside, it's his attitude and adaptability that have really impressed me. The coaches have also done a fantastic job. They've helped him understand the uniqueness of the 'Notts County Style.' It's all about the pressure and the pace. I'm sure young players looking up to him will learn a lot. Best of luck for the future games, Lewis.
