Work To Begin On Lottery Winners' 'teletubbies' House In Wollaton

Work could soon begin on a £5m eco-house in Wollaton for two lottery winners.

The house, to be built at Adams Hill, in Derby Road, is the dream home of £45m lottery winners Matt and Cassey Topham.

Planning permission was given in July for the development but was subject to a report about badgers on the site. That report has now been completed.

The building, which has been likened to the Teletubbies house, would be partly powered by solar panels.

Nice idea but I can't help but feel it's sort of 'showing off' and I can remember watching them on eastmidland's news saying things like they won't let the money change them and nothing will come between them as a couple. So much for the modest house they purchased not long after, I wish them the best but this is going to end with them being unhappy and broke.

I quite agree £5 million is a huge amount for a house in Wollaton. I would probably buy a nice house in the south of France, I'd love to live there but alas I will never fulfill my dream because I don't do the lottery.

The chances of winning are so stacked against you, you've got a greater chance of dying in a plane crash. Someone once called it a "tax on the stupid" and I agree, no offence to lottery players on here, I know it's nice to dream.

Originally they said they bought or was buying a modest house, they told the press that they would see that family members would be well looked after and I can remember saying to cheeky "It's good these have won the money, they seem sensible and down to earth".

It looks like they're not even on earth judging the design of the house. LOL

I see them spending a lot of money on a home they might struggle to complete, if they do. A house like that would cost a lot of council tax, I can't remember how much they won but my main focus would be starting a successful business. Not building this horribly designed house

I think it's great they want to make it energy efficient but it seems they've been watching one to many episodes of 'Grand Designs'. LOL

Well, on the plus side it's eco-friendly (even though I don't believe they should have gone through all that trouble - why should so much responsibility go to your local Joe Average when you have so many big corporations that pollute without a care in the world?), and that's only a sketch... for all you know, the house could look normal once actually built. I don't want to fall for the trick of image manipulation, whether edited or fictitious. Besides, it's one ninth of their total winnings, so they can certainly afford it.

Not my cup of tea personally, if I had that kind of money I'd invest it in other ways, but at least they're not pissing it up the wall like that chav lout did a couple of years ago.

It looks abit like a spaceship or some sort of ant looking creature. Its a waste of money in my opinion... i understand making it eco friendly, but not weird looking.

It would certainly be funny if they have kids and the school asks them to draw a picture of their house or ask them whats its made of.

If they ever moved after i can't see anyone buying it unless they want to knock it down.
