Where are they now : Archie Mair

Sad that Notts didn't do more to keep him on loan an extra year.ย  I think we wouldn't have conceded as many goals as we have done to date if he had been here.

But that is water under the bridge. I wish him well at Morecambe.

Hope that we can sort out the goalkeeping problem soon.

It is reported Luke will be sitting on their bench this evening.

He's not in their squad, I'm guessing he's cup tied as he was a regular starter at Gateshead. But good luck to him at Morecambe!ย

"Notts County are lining up a move for former loanee Archie Mair on a free transfer - although National League club Hartlepool United are also keen on the Scotsman"

There were comments about the club wanting 3 keepers; we have two and one young team goalkeeper.

I would welcome Archie Mair back; he did fantastically in the penalty shootout, and there is still room for him to grow. He is a bit nervous to watch, so I wouldn't rule out Kelle Roos because I think he will be fine for this level, but Mair would give us options. I don't think we can afford to bring in a loan, and I doubt Notts will want to spend money on this position now.

Unless Roos is going to be the backup, Mair wouldn't be the answer as the first-team starter.

Mair could have a bright future, but I don't think he's quite ready to be a starter, but he could make a good backup/rotational option.

A field where dreams become reality.

This feels like a clickbait story. The club could have signed Archie Mair earlier and had him involved much sooner.

I donโ€™t think itโ€™s going to happen now, and Iโ€™m not sure if thatโ€™s good or bad. I didnโ€™t mind Mair myself, but he did take about 15โ€“20 minutes to settle into a game, which is tough to watch when itโ€™s the goalkeeper.

Iโ€™d welcome Archie Mair back, can he play centre forward? ๐Ÿ˜‚

I appreciate the time he spent here, but there are better goalkeepers out there. He always gave me the feeling that a mistake was coming. Heโ€™s a good shot-stopper and brilliant with penalties, but we need someone stronger when it comes to dealing with crosses and high balls.

We will have to wait and see what happens. I would be surprised to see Archie Mair return.

He did not play much for us in the National League. I do not think he has improved enough to step up to League One, which is our aim. It seems best to look at someone who is already closer to that level.

What he did for us in the final was amazing and Iโ€™ll never forget it. Putting him in goal instead of Sam Slocombe was a big choice, and he helped bring the club back up. But I wouldnโ€™t sign him again. I think we could get someone better who can really fight to be the first-choice keeper.

i did not mind him but i always felt there was better, re-signing him would make me feel similar. i felt nervous with the ball at his feet more than i did with sam slocombe. i would hope we can bring in a keeper who is 22-25 with actual experience and just needs the time to step up.

Notts have missed a trick not bringing Archie back to ML, but I do wish him luck at Morecambe. I think he will do a good job for them between the sticks.
