Full Time.

Stallard: "You've got to give Newport credit, the defended manfully. Ultimately frustration is the watchword for Notts today, it feels like two points dropped

A point is better than a defeat. Notts also have another clean sheet. Notts dominated the game from start to finish, & were unfortunate not to get a few goals.

Notts created plenty of chances but just couldn't put them away today. Are we missing our flair players such as Crowley & Jones? Of course we are but the players that we had on the pitch worked their socks off to get a result.

Again, if this was last season, Notts would probably have lost this match with such a leaky defence. Onwards we go to the next match which will be Peterborough away, in the FA Cup.

That gives more time to get Crowley & Robertson nearer to match fitness for the next league match against Walsall on 3rd Dec.

Weird game, totally dominate and although we had 20+ shots we never really forced their keeper into a great save. And some of our shooting was really bad. The fact Jatta, our centre forward, only had 2 shots is also quite bizarre.

Brown probably had the best chance first half when Jatta headed it back to him and he completely scuffed the ball from about 8 yards out, he should've scored. Second half Macari is unlucky that his header didn't drop in and Didzy had a decent chance again from a corner. But every other shot was pretty poor.

I think a lack of quality with touch of slow attacking play did for us there. We pressed well against them and robbed the ball off them quite a few times but nothing ever really came of it, when it probably should. Teams used to punish us for that last season and we should’ve done it to Newport today.

But at times I feel like we are so married to our patterns of play, when a half chance opens up to go forward, we don’t. Instead, we play safe because we are waiting for certain players to get into certain positions before we attack and then Newport can have a breather and get back into position.

I think we are crying out for some pace. Not only do we need to attack quicker but a player or two that can break the lines more and cause more of a threat in behind would be helpful.

I don't want to bring in players that are going to upset our defensive prowess.

Those that come in must be good defensively too. We have improved so much in the defensive department that we just need to keep that going all season

I think once we get our creative players back that can open up defences, I think that Notts can kick on.

The performance was decent enough. Chances were created but not taken. Newport didn't offer much going forward. A point at home is disappointing.

We created quite a few good chances no on another day could have won easily. I do agree with @menzinho our attack play is too slow, we tend to pass the ball around really prettily but very often it’s a slow patient build up meanwhile the opposition have time to set up their defence and get everyone behind the ball.

It would be nice if once or twice we could break quickly and catch their defence off guard.

However if you can’t win make sure you don’t lose and that’s exactly what we did, fourth in the league isn’t bad but it could be better.

newport came to draw, they had no intention of trying to win. that is disappointing, but there was times when the officials made poor decisions which benefitted them. i dont think they did it on purpose, i just feel they were incompetent. i just wished notts would not insist on walking the ball into the net. i dont mind seeing matt palmer drive an effort over the crossbar because its something different.

the issue is we try to force the opening and we need to gamble a little more at times.

i also would have kept jevani brown on, sam austin did well in spells but we could have afforded him to be subbed sooner than he did. i also think bringing on kellan gordon did not work, he was quite poor.

We had a chance in the first half. I don't know how Newport County managed to keep it from crossing the line. Had it gone in, the game would have been a lot easier in the second half. I think it was Sam Austin who had an effort that clipped the inner crossbar and deflected out. I agree that we rely on trying to walk the ball into the goal. Notts put on a good performance, but we lacked that cutting edge in the final third. It shows how much Dan Crowley and Jodi Jones both bring to the team with their presence.
