Sponsors got it right today, in my eyes. George Abbott played incredibly well, relentless in winning the ball back, and with helping to attack. I called it about 5 minutes before he was named. Nick Tsaroulla and Matty Platt deserve special mentions.

Out of my shortlist of nine Notts players offered for voting for man of the match I thought six players stood out for me.

David McGoldrick, Matty Platt, Matt Palmer, Lewis Macari & Lucas Ness, & George Abbott

I think the  Notts defence were outstanding once again. What a change from last season.

For me it was very close between Macari, Palmer & Ness.

But because he has come into the side in place of Bedeau & has played very well today, I'm going for Lucas Ness as my man of the match.

I’ve gone for Matt Palmer, everything seemed to go through him today it’s easy to miss the contribution he makes.

I agree, the sponsors chose the right man of the match today. Even without their support, George Abbott earned my vote as well. I think he should be the PON Man of the Match against Newport County, but we’ll have to see what the voting says.

Whoops, I’ve voted for Matty Platt, I meant to vote for Matty Palmer.

dont worry, @Fan of Big Tone we know now. :)

i have voted for george abbott because i thought he played well in both halfs and gave a very solid performance. he tried to keep us on the front foot and looked very good on the ball.

George Abbott played very well. Defensively, we didn't seem to miss Jacob Bedeau much. I'm sure we missed his presence going forward, but I felt relieved that Lucas Ness fit in as if he had featured much more for us. Matty Platt did superbly too, but I have given my vote to Abbott.

Matt Palmer had a good game. He gets my vote, but I would also acknowledge just how well Matty Platt and George Abbott played.

I voted for George Abbott because I felt he was the standout performer for us yesterday.

Agree with most that have voted. Abbott was on a different level today, the lad is getting better and better and has become a shoo-in for selection.

I agree with @Robbie, all the back 3 had good games. Ness did well coming in, Platt solid as always and Macari moved over to the left but didn’t look out of place at all. My only caveat is that Newport didn’t really commit many players forward though, so it was always very manageable for our defence. Not much between Palmer or Abbott for me, other than Palmer looking a bit dead on his feet by the end of the game. So Abbott just shaded it for me too.

Excellent work, George Abbott!

If my memory serves me right, this is his second so far, so it's racking up - I am sure he will have a few more to his name come the end of the season.
