Nigel Clough has returned to his former club to capture his latest loan signing.

Ben Davies has signed until the end of the season and could go straight into Clough's plans for Wednesday evening's Sky Bet League One encounter with Gillingham.

Clough has made no secret of the fact that a number of Derby players would be of interest to him in the transfer market and attacking midfielder Davies fits into the category.

It was Clough who signed Davies, 32, for Derby in the January 2011 transfer window. He has also represented Chester City, Shrewsbury Town and Notts County.

I know he's still fondly remembered here and that some will no doubt wish he would have signed for us, yet with the amount of loanees we have it would never have happened. It's a shame in some senses, as we need them to struggle and he will create them chances/goals but good signing for Nigel. He'll probably move their at the end of the season also.

good luck to him, it would have been nice to have super ben back. when does his contract run out? could we perhaps sneak him back here? derby will probably not renew his deal when it runs out.

"Davies was offered a new one year contract at the end of April, Davies signed the contract extension in May."

I assume this means he's got another full year but he might end up being released, he doesn't seem to fit in with Derby's current plans.

He was what we've been missing as a permanent signing hasn't got, class. His dead ball game was superb and although he was never the fastest on the park, he did motor and give his all.

Shame as I would've loved to see him at Notts again.

i liked how he could pick up the players around him with his passion, never stopped fighting. i was gutted when he left us!

Ben was apart of a side which could instantly inspire many around them, not only players but the fans. It's good times like winning a league title which builds character, though very few of our current crop come close enough to do this.

I would only say less than one handful.

I'd have had him back like a flash, I thought he was great at Notts and I was very sad when he left.

Proud to be a Notts County Supporter for over 60 years.

Whilst we have extended that useless lad from palace.

I would have sent him back and got ben in, even if we had to put someone else on the bench to play him.

Whoa Lambley,

I think Appiah will do the job with the right formation up front. I'm glad he's been given a chance again.

As for BD, It would have been a dream, but it's too late now, as we have too many loanees
