For those who weren't at the match on Saturday Colin Slater was given a great standing ovation after being inducted into Notts County's Hall of Fame on his 80th Birthday.

I only hope I am as mentally sharp as Colin if I am lucky enough to reach 80 years of age.

Well Done Uncle Colin!

What's done is nothing short of amazing, I read about someone similar who's been covering a non league side for 25 years. He missed his first game the other day, how long he's survived and helped this club. He deserves the respect whilst he's imposition, horrible how some fans say he should retire when he's being praised for his dedication.

80th Birthday and still going strong!

A field where dreams become reality.

I was at the birthday event on Fri evening.

Have to say, more could have been made of the announcement and formal presentation of the "induction" process. It was almost an afterthought and was preceded by a few sparse words from Jim Rodwell, then Jamie Dixon actually made the announcement. I'm not sure that sufficient dignity and prestige went into what was a hugely symbolic and significant achievement. Some reference to Colin's long and distinguished association with the Club, the delicate and critical roles he has played in securing survival, let alone all the occasions he has compered, presented and hosted on the Club's behalf.

I expected more from the Club reps, tho' neither of the Trews were present. It could have all been handled more honourably IMO. Some of the historic commentaries, quotes and interviews would not have gone amiss. The Don could have made the award together with JR & John Mouneney, for example. No disrespect to Jamie, nice bloke etc, but it hardly seems fitting that he is the one to make the announcement and award the H of F honour to CS.

The rest of the evening was fine, usual good standard banqueting arrangements, the ex Players did their bit - well done to Les and "Basher" & most of the tributes, presentations & awards were ok, if a bit long winded at times.

I have not heard him, I don't have the ability to listen to games but when Sven came, I thought why not follow them. The history is rich, I'm planning my first visit.

Happy belated birthday Colin Slater.
