Finally a quality retro shirt release

Notts have finally released a proper retro shirt that closely matches the original. I hope the club continues working with partners like this to bring back classic designs. I’ve never been keen on the cheap stuff The Terrace has put out.

I feel the same way; I haven't liked any of the retro kits before now, despite two of The Terraces being ones from my childhood. This shirt was the very one I had; it will be at my parents house. I remember my grandfather taking me and my brother to go get them; I was very excited, as I had never had a football shirt before. I lived and died in it, and to get me to wear something else was nearly impossible.

It’s a fantastic design and a great throwback to the past. These shirts will sell fast and be just as popular as the first batch was. I’m seriously tempted to get one.

It looks good! I saw a match recently where one of the teams was supplied by Matchwinner, I was surprised to see they're still going. It's better to have a shirt made by the actual manufacturer rather than a retro shirts maker if our deal with Puma allows it.

The stripes appear to be slightly wavy though. Were they like that on the original?

@DangerousSausage, It looks somewhat reimagined, as the badge I remember was a single design with no writing in yellow or gold. It was just a full badge that would easily peel off, like the home bitter and match winner logos.

This version is very close. It’s probably designed this way so people don’t try to pass them off as originals. Some take fake shirts and make slight changes, while others do nothing and still sell them.

Below is a genuine shirt I found for sale on eBay.

I like it! I’m not sold on the neck, but my dad has one of these in mint condition, and I’ve always liked it. The club should have no trouble selling out of those unless Match Winner is doing special orders, which would kind of keep the demand steady. It would be safe to produce a bulk amount, as I can’t see them not having high demand.

You're probably spot on there @Countyman. I don't remember the stripes being wavy like that, but then I didn't own that one. The thin stripe is also closer to the middle on the original. It looks close enough though.

@DangerousSausage, it's very misleading from the photos because some look like it's not that wavy, and others do. I think they could have given Sir Charlie Palmer a bit bigger size.

It's not 100% identical, as I believe the black material had a faint pattern on it, but I have seen replicas/fakes where the pattern is more visible.

The club's name being embroidered makes more sense with the retro shirt, as mine did peel off.

Replicas are often a bit different, but many are far off the mark. A good retro shirt stays true to its original design, and this one is a smart take on a popular kit.

Once the new shirts are released, I think we’ll see plenty of fans wearing this one.

It's a fantastic retro shirt! Match Winner has clearly taken time to produce the kit properly. A lot of retro kit makers rush their designs, importing them from China just to cash in on nostalgia. To make something high-quality, you need to care about the details. Match Winner has done that here, it looks great.

bonus points to the fans who have the original shirt. 😁

I had the away shirt from that season (a turquoise number with purple and white blotches on it). Do I get a bonus point too? πŸ˜€

The badge and logos from that era were made of a nasty plastic foam material that cracked and peeled off. If they've replaced that with embroidery, all the better!
