Christopher Reedtz interview with BBC Radio Nottingham

Featured Replies

I am impressed with the questions, though I get the feeling this is all very PR heavy due to the negative response to the appointment. I just wish the club realised beforehand that, as it would save a lot of hassle if they prepared and came out with the interview as the news broke, I just think more fans would have been less angry. The questions are very good, Chrisopher Reedtz answers well, and I just hope we can focus on Notts.

Not the negative sides of everything; we must unite behind Martin Peterson and just hope the decision works.

We support the club, not the people involved or the players. Yet, we should give our support from the off until a fair point where it is lost. The Reedtz have done nothing to warrant being called out. Paterson needs to be given a lengthy spell before he is evaluated by us.

I'm pleased that the owners decided to speak to the local press about the appointment of Martin Paterson & organisational changes they have made within the Club.

The questions were tough & Chris answered then all very well in my opinion.

It appears that Martin Paterson was their first choice & Chris also confirmed that Joรฃo Alves will continue as a member of the coaching staff.

Chris was questioned about the new Technical Board & he is confident that it will succeed in improving performance.

He had questions about Stuart Maynard, but I think it's time to look forward rather than back. The owners are clearly focused in getting this club promoted.

I am satisfied that the owners have chosen a good coaching team to take this club forward next season, & the new Technical Board will assist that team every step of the way.

As Chris pointed out, I think the owners were surprised at the reaction to the appointment of MP. They shouldn't have been. Personally I'm more concerned about the set up than MP. It is a recipe for disaster. I feel MP has one hand behind his back. Too many chiefs and not enough Indians comes to mind. I hope I'm wrong....

Agreed there were some tough questions.... Even if we had gained promotion, managerial change had some inevitability about it..... looking at long term trends.

We do need to address where the goals are going to come from. The DoF ability to solve this is key

Iโ€™ve got no complaints about the Reedtz. Some fans just seem to panic and throw a strop when things donโ€™t go their way. It really means something that our owner spoke openly and didnโ€™t avoid the tough questions. His honesty shows heโ€™s doing what he believes is right. If this pays off, the complaints will fade. But itโ€™s like last season with Stuart Maynard. He got off to a decent start, then one defeat later and people wanted him gone.

Football can be mad at times, but Iโ€™m glad both the club and the local press are talking to us and not brushing things aside.

The decision to implement a more structured and formalised approach within the club is intriguing. It seems like a step towards modernising operations, which could potentially align everyone with the club's strategy more effectively. However, I do wonder about the balance between data-driven decisions and the human element of football. While data can provide valuable insights, the unpredictability of the game and the importance of team dynamics shouldn't be underestimated. It's a bold move, and I hope it pays off in terms of performance and results. The club's willingness to adapt and evolve is commendable, but it will be interesting to see how this new system integrates with the existing culture and traditions of the club.

Very impressive interview, I thought the owner dealt with some tough questions very well and top marks to the interviewer for asking the right questions.

I still donโ€™t believe that MP was the first choice, he isnโ€™t going to answer that question by saying no he was our second or third choice. I think a lot of potential manager/coaches wouldnโ€™t tough it with a barge pole due to the committee system.

Itโ€™s a radical move for a league two club and I really hope it works, time will tell, either way Iโ€™ll be there supporting the club as Iโ€™m sure most fans will.

Chris was quite clear that Martin was the first choice, so I think we have to go with that.

During the interview process the remit of the Head Coach position would have been explained & Martin must have been happy with what was expected of him if he was given the job.

Well as I said he isnโ€™t going to say any other is he? If he said they couldnโ€™t get the first choice then MP โ€˜s position is undermined from the start.

Itโ€™s a good diplomatic answer.

@Fan of Big Tone I think he's being honest about his first choice. I've conducted many interviews myself. You advertise the position, receive applications, choose the short list, then conduct the interviews. The best person that fits the position in you organisation is chosen then offered the job.

The way he gave his answer and the tone of his voice donโ€™t make it seem like Chris was being dishonest when he said Martin Pearson was his first choice.

He spoke about having interviewed a lot of people and having long talks, so if Pearson wasnโ€™t the one who impressed most, that would probably have come across more clearly.

Itโ€™s a really good interview and gives a lot of insight into what happened behind the scenes.

It could be that the club has a fixed wage for the head coach role, and the candidates they looked at were all happy with that. Paterson may have simply stood out most to the board. The way he gave his answer and the tone of his voice donโ€™t make it seem like Chris was being dishonest when he said Martin Pearson was his first choice.

Perhaps Paterson was the first choice of the ones that didnโ€™t turn down the job. They could have outlined the structure to all the candidates and asked them what they thought and out of the ones that agreed Paterson was the first choice so in that case Chris wasnโ€™t being dishonest. biggrin

Every candidate that may have showed interest in the job would have been FULLY briefed about what the job entailed & what would have been expected.

It is very doubtful that a shortlisted applicant would have turned down the job after a final interview.

If they weren't interested an applicant would never have got to the final interview.

It's obvious that the best person who got to final interview got the job.

It's a very good interview which gives us fans a better insight; the questions were surprisingly good, and it was nice to see points followed up on. I don't think the board would have appointed Martin Paterson just because some rejected working with the new setup. Not with the way the announcements came through, it seems like they had their man in mind and wanted to strengthen around him.

Andy Edwards is the more interesting part of the discussion, with him having experience within the England U20s, U19s, and U16s teams.

Has anyone explained how they ended up being paired together?

The club is in safe hands because the Reedtz brothers are building it up with better stuff and changes behind the scenes.

At first, they worked on making things better on the pitch. Now for the last few years, they've also been improving things off the pitch. That helps us get ready for promotion and makes the club stronger.

What theyโ€™re doing now will help in the future too. Instead of waiting until weโ€™re in a higher league, theyโ€™re sorting things out bit by bit already.

It might feel slow to some fans, but thatโ€™s how football works sometimes.

I thought the interview was really good. Iโ€™m glad weโ€™ve got owners who use the media properly.

Even though it wouldโ€™ve helped to have the interview earlier when we were getting a new head coach, I still liked it.

Maybe just a short and honest update wouldโ€™ve helped stop the silence.
