Post match interview with MP was impressive.

I thought it was a good honest post match interview and that he appeared to say it how it was. From mentioning that there was a lot of work to be done, to stating that he wasn't happy that Macari gave the ball away twice early on. He also made me smile lateri n the interview, when he said something about the quality of the pitch but said its not an excuse, play better!

Martin said all the right things for a first interview as the Notts Head Coach. It was good to see him working the players hard in training.

I thought it was a good interview. Martin was informative & he was honest when he talked about the positives & negatives of the Notts performance.

I don't think that we can make a judgement on Martin after just one game. It's a good start & his interview gave out good vibes, but we would expect that to be the case anyway.

I will be judging him by his team's performance game by game rather than his performance in an interview.

I think Martin comes across as a coach who is clear on what he wants and looks to be a real leader. I get the impression that when the technical board meets, he will certainly have a major input. Hopefully this will lead to progress on the pitch and a strong team we can all get behind.

The interview is very good; Martin Paterson says all the right things, and it's good that he sees the level of work that needs to be put into moving forward. If he can show a clear understanding of how to improve, beyond just words, then it will be very promising. Being asked about Alex Bass and highlighting that he doesn't want to lose our best players, he comes across as knowledgeable and very honest.

I liked his interview, and I think he can get more fans on his side. It’s nice to hear him talk about improving the team. I did like how honest he was, but some experienced coaches know it’s better to talk about the good stuff in public and deal with the problems quietly behind the scenes. It’s still really early days, and I think the squad are starting to believe in him.

It’s just that sometimes, when you say something a bit too honest, it might get used against you later.

Like what he said about Lewis Macari. It was a fresh take, but Macari had scored a tough, messy goal. That kind of goal might’ve helped win some fans over, especially since a lot of people were complaining we hadn’t scored.

I too thought he came across very well. Though as @Robbie says let's see what happens on the pitch in Germany. That should be a good test.

I watched the Magpie Circle match vlog and agreed with the lad who said we should give Martin Paterson a chance. This will be his first proper pre-season, and the club seems set up for him to do well.

We still need to bring in a couple of new players, and strong signings would definitely make a difference.

That said, Paterson came across well in the interview. I liked how honest he was and how he got straight to the point.

Paterson gave a good interview after the match. It felt like he was saying the sort of things we all want to hear, and I reckon he knows exactly what the squad needs before the season kicks off. I hope the board are taking what he says seriously, and that they back him by bringing in the players he’s asked for. I liked what he said about Griffiths and how we need a clear first-choice keeper.

Sanderson impressed me too. I would’ve liked to see how he did with the starting team, especially since we leaned on Kellan Gordon far too much to put the ball into the box.

The interview was strong. I do wish some fans would give people more of a chance instead of getting upset so quickly. When he first joined, he came across as someone keen to prove himself and win supporters over. His comments after the match yesterday may have helped with that too. Still, I don’t think the reaction to his appointment ever needed to be so over the top. Wanting time to see how things go is fair, but being angry or against it from the start doesn’t help anyone, not the club, not the manager. The way Talk Sport and others ran with the McGoldrick story didn’t help either. That was just embarrassing.

I saw a few reactions like “same old Notts” after the match, but Paterson has only had 5 sessions with them, what are they expecting?! I think we’ll see a tad more change with each friendly that passes. I liked the very end of the interview where he said “… but that’s life, get better”. He’s got a bit more charisma about him than Stuart Maynard and he seems pretty confident and assured in what he’s doing. I think by Newport everyone will be fully behind him.

The German teams will be a tough test, offering a different way of playing. I think Martin Paterson will take a lot from these games and find them useful as he prepares for the season.

I don’t pay too much attention to the results in friendlies. It’s more about what the team can learn and how each player performs. It helps show who’s sharp and ready for the start of the season.

The squad should enjoy the challenge. Playing against strong teams like these should be a good experience for everyone involved.

@menzinho agree. Definitely more forthright and persuasive. Nothing against Stuart but I think he did lack a little conviction sometimes.

Martin Paterson seemed very open, which I liked. He didn’t make excuses and gave clear answers to every question. It’s still early days, but I think we should all support the club and hope he can lead the squad in the right way.

I liked listening to Luke Williams because the way he spoke was really interesting and made you think. Martin Paterson is different, he talks more straight to the point and sounds like someone who really knows football and wants to learn every day.

I thought his answers were good. It would be better if the people asking the questions sometimes pushed him a bit more, not in a mean way, just so we could understand better why he was upset with Lewis Macari, and what he thought about the other players too. It would help to know if he plans to work on those mistakes in training.

i thought it was promising what i saw, i stood near the far side as you enter the ground where there was a portion of notts fans trying to make noise. we did not play it back as much, we looked to play it forward and we did not show any fear with putting the ball into areas for our players to run into something we have been afraid of doing because of the strict policy of retaining the ball. yet you can make things happen by being less routine and not as predictable. it was after the alfreton match where paterson made me feel he could win fans over. there is a long way to go and i am sure we will have a few bumps but i think if we can keep the faith it will pay off in time.
