New keeper signs

Featured Replies

An interesting signing. 33 years old. Played 40 games for Triestina who finished 16th in Serie C. Has played in England previously so that's a bonus. He has the experience but does he have the quality? We'll find out.

Could be a good signing he’s played a lot in the championship including three years at Derby, maybe @super_ram can give us some inside information on him.

Kelle looks like being a promising signing for Notts. He's a 6ft 5in goalkeeper with experience in the EFL & Scottish Premiership.

He fits the type of goalie that Notts want & he came on a free transfer on a two year contract.

Great thing about Notts is that they won't be hurried when looking for a suitable player who fits exactly who they want.

If he can get a dozen or more clean sheets for Notts that would certainly help Notts to climb that League 2 table.

There will be competition for the number one jersey too because young Harry Griffiths won't want to be sitting on the substitutes bench every game.

After reading up, this seems like a good signing. I was expecting a loanee tbh, so having our own player on contract (and save something for other acquisitions, as it’s on a free) is a real bonus.

Experience, capable with the ball at his feet, played in many big games and we get his 33 to 35 years at least. Seems like a good piece of work from Rob Gag and co!

I totally agree with you all, this looks like the signing we have all been waiting for. A tall ranging lad who has vast experience both here and abroad, good shot stopper, commands his area and can distribute well. Will look forward to him being tested sometime on Saturday. COYP.

This sounds good, he's experienced (including at a higher level) and has been getting plenty of match practice. His age also isn't an issue as many goalkeepers hit their peak after 30.

The only thing that worries me are the various comments that he isn't great on crosses, but the proof of the pudding is in the eating. Welcome!

It wasn’t that long ago that he was looking pretty impressive at Derby.

Looks and sounds like a quality signing, let’s hope he lives up to his billing. Certainly gives me a little more confidence, at this stage, as we prepare for the season to start.

Good move in my view, well done Notts.

Ok @Fan of Big Tone here's my memories of him. After signing for Derby he spent quite a bit of time out on loan at various clubs before establishing himself as first choice goallie.I do remember him making some quite spectacular instinctive saves. One blot on his record was the error he made in the play off final v Aston Villa when he misjudged a cross .A typical good goalkeeper and he will have gained more valuable experience since leaving Derby. In my opinion he should be a decent signing for Notts,I wish him well.

@super_ram thanks for the insight, it’ll be interesting to see how he gets on at Notts, he’s certainly had a good career, he’s had lots of experience, I’m not too concerned that he’s 33 that’s not old for a goalkeeper. I wish him luck.

We have a solid defence, and he seems capable, but I don’t know much about him. I’m pleased he has experience and offers something different. His height is a real asset. I had hoped we might sign someone aged 25 to 27, so we could get several good years from them.

By the time his contract ends, he will be 35. With the extra year option, I hope the club is confident he can still be good enough to remain the number one.

Heard Good Things and Bad Things about him. His Experience should be a Boon for the Magpies, and hopefully he's a shouter and Commands respect from his defense. I also read he's like a Vampire, he doesn't like Crosses. So he's got himself a nickname already. The Count.

I’m not worried about his ability, but I have noticed fans from his former clubs are quite critical. It reminds me of when Port Vale fans warned us about Aidan Stone.

I’m confident Kelle Roos will turn out to be a solid signing. I really hope he shows he deserves to be our first-choice keeper.

As the season goes on, we’ll see whether the doubts from his past fanbases were fair. But I’d love to see him prove them wrong and become a hero, just like Bartosz Bialkowski did for us.

If the defence is well organised, a good goalkeeper can really shine. His height should be a big help, especially when dealing with crosses and set pieces. I’m sure the club have thought through what he offers and how he fits into the team. He wouldn't be here if they weren’t confident in his ability.

I’m keen to see how he does on the pitch. Fingers crossed he gets his chance tomorrow against Cardiff.

Bartosz and Bass have been two of our best keepers since the turn off the 2000's, so it shows prime age (mid to late 20's) would be one of the top attributes for the teams performance and probs financially if we were to sell. Obviously it's not just that easy as we saw with Stone.

As for Roos, I know there's been a lot of shade thrown about his inability to handle crosses, but my theory aligns with kind of what's been said already. He played in Europa Conf and in the Championship so even if your slightly off the average, your gonna get penalised for not judging the flight of the ball, making split decisions etc.

That said he kept 14 clean sheets last season in a team comparable to us in Italy in terms of stature who didn't perform too well (maybe their manager was Stefano Mayandaro?) Hopefully with our assured defence, he'll be covered and have a successful time.

Lastly, I think if we go up, and I suppose that's a big if, we'd venture for a new number 1.
