Weekly Chat - Monday 4th to Sunday 10th August

Good morning it’s dry at the moment but the forecast is for wet and windy weather later, hopefully the effects of the storm will be minimal in our area. I hope so for our son and family’s sake they are camping at Rutland Water, our daughter in law took part in a swim across the lake yesterday morning, rather her than me I bet it’s cold even in August!

So what’s everyone up to today, anything exciting or anything not exciting, let’s chat.

We had free electricity this afternoon between 2 and 3 pm thanks to Octopus energy, so we filled the washer and dishwasher, jacket potatoes in the oven and I mowed the lawn, I wanted to put the fan heater on but Mrs. T said that was silly in the middle of summer. 😂

I like that this is a safe space where I can write openly, but the past two days haven't been good. I don't really want to go into it, but yesterday I felt very deflated despite trying my best.

Tuesday, I stayed up until like 4 a.m. doing various things, from upgrading PON. Introducing new badges serves to recognise and reward our outstanding members. Sorting server stuff and making sure that everything was fine for when the site would go live again. It wasn't hard. Just time-consuming in some areas, but I didn't get much chance to do anything later on. There was a patch for the upgrade, which was very quick to fix some issues.

Tomorrow, I need to go out with Cheeky to look for some stuff for the house. I'm really encouraged by the number of members coming on, and I really hope to make sure my efforts match the quality I am seeing.

In other news, my friend wants to take me to Barrow, and I need to check that I can.

Morning all, happy Thursday. We are busy getting ready for our new carpet which will be laid next Tuesday, we have a huge through lounge/diner, so we have a lot of old carpet to take up, we’ve been cutting it up into smaller pieces with a Stanley knife so it’s more manageable to take to the tip. We now have a square in the lounge still to cut up and the whole of the dining room.

The trouble is we have to do it in stages as it’s a bit exhausting and not good on my back. When I was younger it would have been a doddle. Never mind we’ll get there eventually.

What’s everyone else up to?

Yesterday, I had to pop to B&Q.

We need a light fitting for the kitchen, and Cheeky has taken on wanting to do more home improvements. Just little things, nothing major. In the future, we would like to redo our living room flooring. In the process of looking, we picked up a cactus for Jake, and it's similar to the ones my mum had on her kitchen windowsill. It was pretty quiet; we caught one bus into town, got off, and about 3 minutes later hopped on one to Electric Avenue.

Can't say we found a fitting we liked, but it was nice to look in person. We will be ordering one from Amazon, as the styles in-store aren't to our liking.

We went into The Food Warehouse for some knick-knacks and caught two buses home.

Today, I am rolling off things I have on my to-do list and seeking to fix some bugs while testing a new app that will bring us a detailed league table that doesn't require me to update the HTML. I did that on a tablet coming back from Carlisle last season; it was tricky.

I really need to find the time and hopefully feel well enough to see Super. I'm thinking Sunday, but at some point I do plan to pack my laptop up in my bag and cycle over to save me from needing to walk.

With the rain falling, I thought it was better to watch it than turn on the telly. I just sat by the window for a few hours, as silly as it might sound, and had a nice cold beer. After all those warm weeks and heatwaves, it’s lovely to enjoy a rainy day, especially with the weekend coming up.

That rain was quite unexpected, Mrs. T asked me what the weather was going to do as she had some washing, I looked on the weather app and it said dry all day, well you can imagine what she said when she had a line full of washing and it started tipping down with rain. Oh dear, never trust a weather man.

Been in and out, doing human-interest stories in Manchester and all this stuff the auditors are pointing their cameras at.

I don't blame you; I personally don't drink alcohol; it's very rare that I do. My apartment has a nice view of the River Irwell. I have a very small, compact desk near the back where I do all my writing at home. I always find it peaceful to do when it rains; the pattering sound of the rain hitting the glass can be very peaceful. I don't have a balcony, though the door does slide open to allow the breeze in.

Unfortunately, I was at work and walking around the city centre getting wet for most of the day.

Tonight, continuing the "German" flavour of pre season matches.. I'm off to see tonight.

Mrs R broke one of her back teeth yesterday afternoon just eating a sandwich. Off to the Dentist this morning.

We are fortunate to have a great Dentist. We go private, but if it's an emergency you can always get an appointment the next day & the service is first class.

It's a lovely morning though here, Looks like we are going to have a beautiful warm weekend.

Should be a lovely day for the match tomorrow.

What a beautiful morning here in the midshires, the sun is shining and we have a little breeze keeping all cool at the moment.

At work again for the 5th day and still no vehicle so I can do my job??

Looks like another day in the office couped up and restricted. Although the nice walk home should compensate for that.

Managed to get out for some lovely food last evening with Mrs P and number 2 son. I had Sweet potato, Leek and Cheddar cheese pie (cheese, onion and potato pie really) just poshed it up a little. I haven't had that since I was 10 years old and my Mum used to make it at least once a week and we had it with baked beans, happy days. 😃

Good afternoon, we’ve had another day of cutting up carpet and underlay ready for our new carpet that coming Tuesday. It’s very tiring work shifting furniture about and getting down on my hands and knees to cut lengths of carpet to take to the tip.

We’d had enough by 3pm and I downloaded my ticket for tomorrow then we relaxed in the garden in the lovely sunshine with a cool drink. Mrs. t’s home made chicken biryani tonight looking forward to that.

@Robbie best wishes to Mrs Robbie I don’t envy her a dentist appointment I’ve had far too many recently.

most days seem to fly by but to day, its just seemed slow and it was one of those days where things were non stop at work. i love my job, i put all of my effort into being the best that i can but i came home today feeling drained. i dont normally feel tired at all after leaving, i can be quite hyper and wanting to do the next thing.

reminds me of my own mum, she had certain meals set for every day and it was like clockwork. you never had to think about what you wanted. cheese, onion and potato pie. cottage pie, cheese and beans. all sorts of warm home cooked meals.

Hope it went OK.

About 3 months ago I took a bite and knew something bad had happened. The pain and sensation went after a day but over the next few weeks, 2 different dentists couldn't find anything wrong, even from x-rays (although the first one offered to yank out my wisdom teeth while he was in there).

I had a different emergency dental problem and holidays which stopped me dealing with this first problem, and lo and behold returning to the second dentist the molar I suspected all along is divided in two all along, you could park a bike there, and is pronounced dead! Now I'm going to have to go down the implant route.

My jaw bone is about to become the recipient of plugs and screws drilled in by power tools.
