A dissapointing result for Notts in their first game at Meadow Lane. It wasn't a good performance overall, however, Luker came on & scored a well taken consolation goal after a good move. Jodi also hit the bar with a free kick, but chances were a premium for the Notts team today.

Although we lost, there must be a player that performed above the rest or impressed or encouraged you.

I have chosen the starting eleven & one substitute for you to choose your PON Man of the Match.

Those players are,

Roos, Bedeau, Platt, Norburn, Jones, Iorpenda, Palmer, Dennis, Aljofree Cotter, Bennetts, & Luker

Not many impressed - but Cotter put some good tackles in, worked hard and actually beat a man a couple of times.

After Dennis went off we had 7 midfielders, 6 of which play almost identically. Could see the value ofhaving Grant, Iorpenda, Luker, Hall & Cotter on at the same time tbh.

Iorpenda got sponsor’s MOTM, which was probably a good shout - not much competition other than Cotter and Platt.

Thought Jones was a waste of a shirt and Norburn adds a “bit of ballast” but the game by-passed him for the most part. Bennetts got involved after half time but drifted away again then we were swamped with to many similar style players and only Luker with a bit of invention.

Bennetts, and I didn't have to think too hard.

He created promising situations with his speed and skill and also did useful defensive work.

Palmer can hold his head high again and well done Jayden Luker for providing some attacking threat. The anti-MoM would be Norburn by a mile. That takes some doing with Roos there too. I also thought key players we rely on were quite poor today - Platt & Jones

Yeah Man of the Match in it's loosest form for this one, I went for Bennetts too, I thought we didn't involve him enough at times but on the ball he looked the most dangerous. I agree with @theAnticlough that taking Norburn off improved us, Iorpenda looked a bit lost as an attacking midfielder but was better next to Palmer. Luker and Grant both looked quite sharp when they came on too.

I think all today's players need to have a good look at themselves and ask the question, did I leave all on the pitch today and therefore was i proud representing my club and the fans that turned out to watch a very poor performance. I know and understand it was our first league game at home this new season and that could and would make players nervous, but not for the whole match.

Martin it's time for some tough love and putting one or two or maybe more players in the know regarding the fact of who they are playing for and the standard required.

I thought Keanan Bennetts showed touches of real class in the match yesterday. When he’s fully fit, he’s going to be a real asset. I know we are all feeling down after the team’s performance yesterday, but it is early days. It takes time to find the best starting eleven and getting them to gel. I think back to previous seasons and a lot of teams that were promoted started slowly. Teams that make a fast start often fade. Who remembers Torquay in the national league. Walsall last season.

Sonny Aljofree looked brilliant at the back. In the first half, he won every header and really stood out.

I think people might have missed how well he played, maybe because we lost or because the defence struggled at times. Matty Platt should have done better with the first goal, and Kelle Roos gave away the second.

That didn’t help. Jacob Bedeau also had a tough game. He gave the ball away too often and was caught out of position quite a bit.

Keanan Bennetts looked really sharp when Notts had that burst of energy and started to push forward. Even before that, he did some good work, and that’s why he stood out to me.

Salford City managed to push Notts back quite a bit, and it messed up the passing. That sort of pressure needs to be dealt with quicker so the team can settle and play their game.

If I hadn’t voted for Bennetts, I would’ve gone for Cotter. He seemed tired for most of the match, but he still gave it a go and put the effort in.

Fr me it was between Aljofree, Palmer and Bennetts out of the three Aljofree edged it in my opinion.

It's not that I felt Tom Iorpenda didn't give a good account of himself, but I did feel baffled to see him named as the official Man of the Match. I didn't think he did enough to warrant it myself.

Both Matty Platt and Jacob Bedeau did a mixture of good and bad, but overall I would say they performed well enough.

Matt Palmer would be in my list of five contenders, alongside Barry Cotter, who defended very well. I can’t include Jodi on my list, even though he seems to have regained his spark. I thought he was decent, but he didn't support Matthew Dennis enough in the first half, in my eyes. Sonny Aljofree really impressed me; he handled things well and defended bravely. I honestly think if he had played in the middle, the first goal would have been headed away. It's a bit disappointing that Platt didn't mark his man, but Aljofree would be my call for Man of the Match.

Palmer, Aldjofree, Cotter, Bennetts and Jodi all looked up for it.

Keanan Bennetts gets my vote. I thought he did alright in the first half.

His defending isn’t the best, and that’s something that could be improved in training. But going forward, he looked sharp.

We need to make sure there are options in the box when we break forward, but I felt Bennetts did very well overall.

Oh oh oh ohhhhh, everywhere where we go, watching super County putting on a show!

Sonny Aljofree was just like I thought he’d be. He was really good in defence and headed away loads of danger. He worked well with Barry Cotter when Barry wasn’t too tired. It was nice seeing Sonny make smart runs and get back to defend when needed. Jacob Bedeau doesn’t always do that and it can leave us in trouble.

Keanan Bennetts gets my vote, but I did think that Luker did well & scored a good goal. I thought Bedeau did ok & so did Iorpenda. I thought those four were above the rest.

Bennetts for me. Does anyone look at Bedeau's passing? (In agreement with @ExiledPie ) Maybe suggests why he isn't playing at a higher level?

I thought he had a very good game, a little disappointed for Sonny Aldjofree as I really do believe he was up there, but you can't argue with the votes. Second half, Keanan Bennetts looked like a very sharp player.

I am very pleased for him; thanks to all who voted!

Please look out for the poll against Wigan.
