Notts have the opportunity to quickly put behind them the dissapointing result on Saturday against Salford City.

Head Coach Martin Paterson in his post Salford interview articulated that a strong side will be fielded against Wigan & he is aiming to win the game.

That second half was much better, the subs made a difference Gordon looked lively and so did Dennis both were unlucky not to score, Dennis hit the post and Gordon had a good shot well saved Notts dese

I am pleased that this game will take place just three days after the dissapointing result against Salford. It gives all the players a chance to redeem themselves & give themselves much needed confidence too.

I think that the vast majority of the players that started the match against Salford will figure once again with just a few changes.

I don't think the Gaffer will bring in academy & fringe players to get match practice, the way Martin was talking in his post match interview, this match will be treated like a league 2 match.

He might persist with Roos in goal but I wouldn't be surprised if he picked Griffiths or Slocombe between the sticks.

League 1 Wigan will pose a tough test for Notts no matter what the circumstances, however Notts need to show some character & they need to show us what they are made of.

It will be interesting to see if they will play their heart out for the new gaffer. I really hope they do. The performance is much more important than the result, but I do hope a positive result ensues.

i would let harry griffiths go in goal and i would rest some like barry cotter, maybe jodi too. see what some of the loan players can offer and hope that they can put together a good performance. all the new arrivals to midfield has us a bit disjointed and i know fans are expecting us to be thrashed but you never know. i dont expect us to do particularly well but we have to try. i know some might feel deflated after yesterday, but we just keep going.

I think this game would be a good opportunity to play Griffiths. MP can include him without casting any negativity towards Roos, as most teams give their second choice goalie a place in cup games. If he does well then he could play him in the the Barrow game and simply say he deserves to keep the shirt!

Wigan are looking to bounce back from a disappointing performance on Saturday as well. They were well beaten by Leyton Orient. 2 nil flattered them. I suspect our old friend Paul Mullin will start. He was a sub on Saturday.

I'd agree that it is time to give Griffiths a go. Roos is not up to the required standard. I'd be happy with a decent performance. Give us something to build on.

It's games like this where I would make a change to the formation and consider playing someone more closely in a supportive role to Matthew Dennis. Otherwise, I can see it being quite different as Wigan do have some quick players, and if they have done their homework. There are various ways in which they could punish us: playing the ball over the back of our back three, set pieces, chasing and pinning us back when we try to pass it out from the back.

Free kicks look to be a real concern, at least depending on who is in goal.

When opposition teams have a good turn of pace, I am always quite wary of how they can overload us at the back. Our formation is designed to give us control in possession, with an extra man in attack, but against a team like I would describe Wigan. The quality might be too much; I think we'll leave our keeper exposed, whoever that may be. We might just struggle for it without considering who is marking whom and how we can force them to play how we want them to.

It should be a good enough game; I think they will allow us to play, but much of it depends on how good they are in goal and how well we defend against them.

A field where dreams become reality.

No idea how seriously Wigan are going to take it, but I suspect like us they'll make a few changes for it too. We won't be expected to win so as long we avoid a heavy defeat but at least put in a better performance than Salford that would be something. And if we somehow do go and win everyone will be a lot more positive before our next league fixture.

Players I think we could see start against Wigan are: Griffiths, McDonald, Hall, Grant and Luther. I'm also hoping some the players that have potentially been forgotten get included, Macari, Jarvis and Traore would all benefit from being involved.

I think Jatta’s suspension counts in this match too so that’s handy (if I’ve got that right), means he could potentially be back for Bromley on the 23rd.

I believe Notts need to take this match very seriously. Martin Paterson alluded to this in his pre match interview that he was looking to win the match.

Of course it's important to put in a good performance, but it is important to win every match you play in. It gives the players confidence & keeps the fan base happy too

Martin needs to find out what his strongest side is, as soon as he can, so I would urge him to select a very strong side against Wigan. Possibly those who finished the game against Salford, & play young Griffiths in goal.

I think Griffiths would be disappointed not to get a game tonight really.

Luker and Hall look like they can probably up the tempo for us and hopefully they will start.

Lets hope we can pass the ball better tonight and take the last half an hour from Saturday to build on. I am slightly concerned that although

Dennis is a willing runner etc. he doesn't appear to be getting into positions near enough the oppositions goal.

Maybe it will take longer than we think to get an understanding of each other throughout the team but a positive result tonight

would be a great boost for the lads.

COYP !!!

The penalty was soft but this is not an improvement on Saturday. Wigan aren't exactly world beaters. If Notts up their game, a win is most definitely on the cards.

Well I haven’t seen much to enthuse me so far in this game, the penalty was a really soft one in my opinion, watching the replay the player made the most of it I would go so far to say it was a dive.

Notts are showing no real urgency, it’s almost like a practice match at times, I know it’s probably hot out there but it’s all very pedestrian. Luker is getting no service at all up front, I think their goalie might as well have a night off for all the work he’s had to do.

I’m hoping for better in the second half.
