Notts County are interested in Coventry City midfielder Billy Daniels as they chase their fourth signing of the January transfer window.

The Magpies are believed to have held talks with the frontman in the last 24 hours as he closes in on a departure from the League One Sky Blues.

A deal could even be announced tonight for the 20-year-old who has seen chances of a first-team spot limited at the Ricoh this season.

He had suffered quite a bad injury which required specialist treatment, however like Adams he is highly rated. His youth days he was like with a couple of move to Premiership sides, all nothing ever materialized.

Not a bad player, thoughts?

it seems we are signing youngsters and players who have had injury trouble, i am not against him at all.

yet i would like to see us focus on the players behind the strikers, i think we have enough to manage with and although he could pay off, i am just unsure what this means for players like thomas or our own like harrad who appears to have disappeared.

would welcome him as always, i just dont know enough about him really.

I would like to see us sign a more experienced striker but the trouble is any experienced striker who is any good won't be available.

If this signing comes off lets hope it's a good one.

He would not be that bad of a signing.

Similar traits to Jimmy but at youth level he was more clinical with his finishing. If City release then yes, take him and hope the gamble pays off. Lets face it we dont have anything to lose by trying him but all to gain if he does do well.

Will he be able to fit in up front though after being converted to centre mid for the past few years?

Let's hope he is better than the last Coventry signing in the door. Well did he ever get past the welcome mat?

The not so great David Bell. Another injury prone player from Cov!

Well it says something when the team he might be leaving make comments about how they hope if it's true we play him, he seems fairly popular. He's also been compared to 'Adams' as being one they should be taking time to make sure they came through.

It's also correct he plays in midfield but any footballer should be able to play in multiple locations.

If a player can nail different areas and perform well, you know they're worthwhile. We shall see!

BBC now say he's set to sign.

Billy Daniels: Notts County set to sign Coventry City striker

Notts County are set to sign Coventry City striker Billy Daniels, reports BBC Radio Nottingham.

The 20-year-old, who has also played in midfield, is expected to join the Magpies on Thursday once the paperwork has been finalised.

Daniels has scored three goals in 33 games for the Sky Blues, but only 19 of those appearances have been starts.

He also spent time on loan with Cheltenham last season, but only played two matches.

Hi All,

Notts have just signed Billy Daniels from Coventry City on an 18 month contract. Billy signed a professional contract with Coventry in 2012. He has made 33 appearances for them.

He can play as a striker or midfield

Both signings were undisclosed fees, I can't remember the last time we actually paid for a player either, let alone two in one week!

We are signing too many risky players imo. 2 young wingers, the inexperienced Thomas and now this bloke - who is a walking sick nite.

Best of luck to them - hope at least 2 of them can produce the goods. Can see at least 2, probably 3 starting on

Sat. Admittedly, Cassidy & McLaughlin were rubbish but you need to replace them with improvements......

Time will tell, we'll wait & see.

Alan Judge I believe was the last signing for dough.

Considerably more than these two guys no doubt but fee's aren't important really, that said I don't get why all this undisclosed business has crept into the game. It was nice to know, I'd guess we are talking below 25k. Was Boucaud actually our last signing? He was meant to have been said for 25k, plus a lot of bonuses based on how he performed/played.

Welcome to Meadow Lane!

It's not a signing we can hang our hats on, could turn out to be shrewd, could be another Tyrell Waite. We shall see. It's worth pointing out that this player is a striker whose last manager tried to convert into a midfielder. I can only imagine that SD want to play him up front.
