As RM says, we have to start winning the home games. Barnsley are on a poor enough run, no wins in 6, but when you look at it a bit closer, you'll see that they drew against Bristol City and PNE (1st and 2nd) so they are no mugs.

We beat them at Oakwell in October. Notts came from 2 goals down after 12 minutes to win 3-2. Petrasso (remember him?) got 2 that day.

I don't think we'll win this game. Another draw I expect. 1-1. Spencer.

I think RM will see his influence kick in for the last 4 games so winning or avoiding defeat here would be a huge boost.

A draw at the least and other results to go in Notts favour!

Critical that we get at least 1 point, 3 would be a bonus. We need a minimum of 4 points from the next 2 games to retain any chance of survival, because we won't win the last 3, that is for certain. The key game for me is Crawley - lose there and it will be all over imo.

If we can grab 6 points in the next 2 games then safety is all but secured, less than 3 and it is all over. 4 points means it will be down to the wire.

Back to Barnsley - hope we perform & anticipating along overdue and much needed victory.

Come on you Piiiiiiiiiiiiieeeeeeeeees.

Tongight's fixtures include:

Chesterfield v Colchester

Coventry v Oldham

Leyton Orient v Doncaster

Peterborough v Crewe

Scunthorpe v Port Vale

Walsall v Crawley

Massive night at the bottom, it's crucial we get a good result tonight as you would say it's fairly likely that a few of our nearest rivals will slip up.

Barnsley have nowt to play for, its the gaffers first home game in charge, and with a six pointer to come this weekend it's crucial we take some momentum into that one.

Prove me wrong lads, COYP

I have a good feeling about tonight. He might have been able to view who his best 11 for a week now.

Any word on JCR's injury?

Barnsley still have a slim chance of the play-offs, don't they? If so, they will be up for it. I'm not confident, and I expect Barnsley to beat us.

I think I heard Noble is out, JCR likely to be out, Newton out too.

So:

---------------Carroll--------------------
-Dumbuya--Mullins--Williams--Adams
---------------Jones-----------------------
-Burke?--------????------------McCourt-
------------Thompson--Bajner------------

I have no idea if Nobsa is out and C. Thompson out too, who else you would play in the middle. I wouldn't want a Jones and Smith central pairing as it's likely to be far too slow. Bajner kind of there through default, McCourt too. Add Burke to that list aswell.

Edit: Just re-listened to the interview with Moniz. Noble and Newton Out, JCR waiting on scan. C.Thompson is back! So put C.Thompson in the above formation.

Update: JCR out for 4-6 weeks. @Canadian

Not very confident at all. I hope other results go our way but will this just delay our worst nightmare.

Unless we get at least 4 points from the next 2 games we are doomed in any event. Losing to Crawley would, just about, put the tin lid on it. We simply are not going to get 9 points from the last 3 games, full stop.

Agree with that team btw - providing you swap Spencer for Bajner!

If Curtis T isn't fully fit then Smith will play imo. Personally, I'd pick Wroe but we'll, no doubt, have to suffer Smith kicking people up in the air, getting caught for pace and generally being cr@p again!

Oops! Totally forgot about Spencer!

I Don't see the point in trying to predict a score... I predict a win, they lose... I predict a draw.. they lose... I predict a loss... they lose

So we will lose! :(

Notts: Carroll, Dumbuya, Adams, Smith, Mullins ©, Spencer, G Thompson, Jones, McCourt, Burke, Williams.

Superb! That is what we want!

Ok we drew, and we had to come from behind, but the effort, style of play, chances... the excitement... is it just me but this takes you back to a much happier time...

Great entertainment tonight. If only we could have taken our chances. Jones put another good shift in and tonight there were many highlights. McCourt is still playing below par and probably Dumbaya.

Excellent display all round. No poor performers, Smith was far more use deployed up front in the 2nd half. Jones, ?Adams and Williams were particularly impressive.

Dumbuya was top class in the 1st half. He linked well with Jones & Thompson and he put some quality balls into the box. He tired a bit and git caught out late ob but, otherwise, was another solid performer.

Adams & Burke linked well and provided good width but the quality of their final ball was lacking.

Jones was outstanding - again. Tireless, comfortable on the ball, gritty & at the heart of everything good that we did. Williams is also composed & assured. Love to see him alongside Jones in midfield (not the slow and cumbersome Smith) but, tbh, he's the best bet at the back. If it's a choice between Hollis & Williams - then it really is no contest. Williams looks at ease on the ball and is a much more alert and agile. Hollis looks like a startled giraffe.

Great entertaining match, what a moment when Bajner put the equaliser in, fantastic. Someone said that we were in for exciting football with Moniz in charge I think they were right.

A win a Crawley please lads.

Exactly the description in my head.

I have to say I was disappointed that we had conceded a goal quite early on again, perhaps less so when I realized that we had held them to this score for over 70 minutes which is actually good considering.

The draw is a good result, though I do feel it's a shame that we concede in the manner we do.

Pleased to see Bajner score, I would extend his stay with us now because we have two decent options upfront with him and Jimmy, not forgetting at least when Murray returns. We could behind around this and add real depth to the squad, which I suspect would allow to play much differently. It seems under Moniz we have a manager who can handle in game decisions, which I hope is the case because we have missed someone who can read the game whilst it's taking place quite badly. All in all I welcome the point based on the fact we went 0-1 down, if it was the other way around I think it would reflect differently.

This was my first match since Bristol City. I definitely chose a good one! That is how you are supposed to play at home. If that's the football Ricky Moniz wants us to play, it's a promising sign whatever division we're in next season.

I sat in the Lane End for the first time since the 90s. The Barnsley fans were fairly quiet for the most part, and took 25 minutes to start chanting scabs. That never fails to wind me up. My family was involved in the miners' strike and I don't like it being used as football "banter" by a bunch of chavs who probably don't even know what a trade union is. But I'll leave the politics there. I was surprised how good the Kop sounded from the other side of the ground, especially as there were less than 4000 home fans in attendance.

The draw was probably about right. Jones was outstanding, the industrious engine room that allowed our other players to get forward, and spread the ball nicely to the wings too. Williams looked good on the ball but gave me a few nervous moments, not least his desparate pull on Ibehre's shirt in the first half - if the Barnsley man had gone down, we'd have been down to ten men. McCourt was incredibly frustrating, often dwelling on the ball too long and seemingly on a different wavelength to his teammates. Hard to drop though, as a player like him can easily come up with something sublime and turn a game in our favour.

It'll be interesting to see how we line up against Crawley - the manager might be tempted to play Bajner from the start. If we take the initiative and control the game like we did on Tuesday we'll be OK. Wins against Crawley and either Donny or Gillingham will see us safe.
