Best and worst ground you have visited

What is the worst and best ground that you have visited?

Best - I liked the 'Deepdale' and Walsall's ground, yet for football feelings it must go to Preston whom have a ground worthy of their division.

Worst - Northampton! Cramped space, awful facilities and just generally 'lower league'.

What about you?

St Marys Stadium! its a proper football ground.

Worst Accrington springs to mind but that is probably unfair.

Best - 1. FC Cologne for the experience - big (50,000 and nearly always sold out), modern and loud.

I also enjoy grounds with a bit of history and an old grandstand. I liked Cheltenham, good atmosphere there. Burton is nice too, good to see so much terracing in a fairly new ground. Hope they don't bolt seats into it if they go up. Eastwood Town was probably the pick of the non-league bunch.

Worst - Retford United's Cannon Park takes some beating - a long walk out of town past some fields - without even a footpath! - to a ground made up of two bike sheds and a hill. Nice chips though.

The old Wembley was pretty crap really, wasn't it?

The Südweststadion in Ludwigshafen (below) comes in its own special category. This ground was built from rubble left behind by WW2 and in its pomp hosted up to 83,000 spectators. It's where Waldhof Mannheim held their home games when they played in the Bundesliga in the 80s. I went there last year. Today the capacity is less than 6,000, the ground is little-used, virtually unchanged and most of it is literally crumbling. It's both a dive and a fascinating insight into German football pre-Bundesliga in an age when few grounds are more than 30 years old. One for the anoraks.

Ive only been to 3 away games so it would be unfair for me to give my worst, but my best would be between Villa park and Bramall lane, but the only other one ive been to is Huddersfield's john smiths stadium

Best is surely Meadow Lane?

Without a doubt!

Juventus was absolutely stunning, and the new Wembley has to be up there too - I'd love nothing more than to see Notts play there. Villa Park was also very nice.

I do like a good of dashioned ground though, and Glentoran's Oval ground in East Belfast is a particular favourite for that, proper old school ground and the views from the terraces and stand are brilliant!

Ad for the worst ground, well you go to some real dumps in the southern league but Poole Town takes some beating. It is literally a school field with a bit of fence around it and a bike shed along one side. Shouldn't have been allowed into the league with it
