Jordan Richards ...Boston to Sligo

I thought Jamie was giving everyone a chance to impress? Whether Pedro's son could fit the right back, Centre Half or defensive midfield positions sometime this season, I am expressing extreme disappointment. Especially as Boston have given him some rave reviews.

Good to know @ohstanleyaborah. Given that his father was a versatile Right back, Centre Half, Sweeper   and we are crying out especially in the centre of the defence. why he is not being given the opportunity to stake a claim. This is especially true when a statement from Jamie says "everyone will be given the chance to impress" or words to that effect

Sligo Rovers have a reputation for getting the best out of young players. The standard in the League Of Ireland is better than the level Boston play at. I'll keep an eye on Jordan's progress.

Obviously we all want to see Jordan given a chance but I think this will help us in the long run, am I wrong to think sligo rovers are a half decent side in Ireland?

Sligo should be a mid table side this season. They have been rebuilding.

Interesting Sligo / Notts connections over the years ...Baraclough, Don O'Riordan, Cotterill...and  Fahrudin "Faz" Kuduzović ...remember him, because I don't. Played 3 times under Gary Mills tenure. I am sure there must be more players as well with Sligo/Notts connection

I used to watch the Irish league on ESPN and Setanta Sports.

I found the league to be extreamly scrappy, with keepers being of poor quality especially - I did enjoy the games I watched, as they had some talented players who could have featured for lower Premiership to Championship sides and in the league seeing their skill was a joy. A better player will improve, as it's quite physical and you have to be good on the ball to retain possession.

He may also adapt to the long ball style of play. :P

It's not a bad move in my opinion, it's a step up and he will be around far better players.

I have no idea on the standard of Irish football, but if it is physical then that can only be a good thing. Too often talented young players just can't hack it in the men's game because they are not prepared for the physical nature of lower leagues football early enough.

Sligo are managed by Dave Robertson who for a short while was manager of Pererbourogh United a couple of years ago. He cam over to Sligo as assistant to Micky Adams.  Adams returned to England after 8 months and Robertson took over. By their standards Sligo had a poor season last year after winning the league under O'Riordan.

I don't disagree at all, yet I would also mention that mentally youngsters just aren't prepared. You have to be strong minded, as you can play well and end up being dropped - this to a youngster is a sign of rejection and that they may have done something wrong which is hard to accept sometimes.

Yet often it's just that the manager requires something different.

Look at Thompson, other players would have deflated after being dropped the amount of times he has done - yet he seems confident with his own ability. He knows that it's not because of his performances but because he doesn't always fit the system (despite the fact if I was our manager, I would see him featuring more and build him into the tactics).

What is strange is that I believe Sligo are still in pre season. Surely it would have been better to have given him an extra match at Boston and then done the loan deal.

When does their season finish?

The League Of Ireland is a Summer league. Runs from March to October. Jordan's first game will be at home against one of the biggest clubs in the league, Shamrock Rovers. The atmosphere will be electric.

If Jordan is anything like his father, he will be relishing the opportunity of featuring in Irelands top league.

from a Sligo supporter..." 12 Jordan Richards 24 Micky Place are nice exciting footballers".... hope Jamie isn't reading this, as Jordan's Notts career could be finished for being "exciting" :D

Sligo lost 2-1 to Liverpool U21 last night, Brano was there I believe

he was sent to Sligo rovers damn iPhone miss spells everything anyway  branston said the two clubs are forging a partnership for player recruitment an sending Jordan there was part of that deal.

So that's why he's gone I'd also like to see montel go on loan scores at a lot at youth and reserve level just to see what he can do

Well if we can get a partnership with sligo I don't see how it could end badly, if they get a good player they send him our way and if we have a good player we send him there on loan to develop and test him out, win win me thinks

Jordan made his debut and played the full 90 mins in a 2-0 home loss to Shamrock Rovers. Did OK it seems.

I get the feeling some of our potential gems will end up getting lost, I hope Jordan Richards isn't one. Thanks for the update @Dripsey3.

Unfortunately under the current regime, I fear for any young player that has a modicum of talent, as it does not appear to be wanted.

Jordan played the full 90 again tonight. Unfortunately it was another defeat for Sligo. 1-0 away to Bohemians.
