fast food, do you like it?

Featured Replies

I love fast food, but my waistline doesn't so currently abstaining from it! It's just a shame that most convenience food outlets appear to junk food sellers as it really narrows choice and has become the easy option for families.

@ohstanleyaborah PoN discounts available at your chippy? On a trip to Sofia once, happened to be sitting next to a chicken seller. Fact for today, a lot of chickens sold in takeaways in the UK have been sourced from Brazil and Thailand, where animal rearing is not done in the best conditions. I try to make a stance on animal welfare and refuse to even eat in some well known chain restaurants as their chicken has been Halal slaughtered

Sorry if I disagree with some people on here own view of things

Yes, but not too much of it. I love pie and chips on my visits back to England. A bad kebab with unidentifiable grey meat is shocking, but I have a few kebab houses I trust and theirs are excellent. Hate McDonalds, Burger King and the like - absolute tosh that doesn't even fill you up. Fast food isn't always crap though - when done right, it can be fresh and tasty (and in some cases even healthy!).

Re @Piethagoram's point on animal welfare, 90% of halal meat in the UK is stunned and therefore unconscious before slaughter, and to be halal certified it needs to be traceable too. That's a lot better than the mystery meat you'll find in a frozen supermarket lasagne. I give veal a wide berth (it's EVERYWHERE here) und buy organic when I can. Ideally I'd like to cut down on my meat consumption, but I like eating it too much...

I try to avoid fired foods. Tesco do some lovely flavoured sausages that I indulge in every now and then. I usually have a fry for breakfast one day when I'm on holidays. Looking forward to trying a Scottish breakfast next week. In Edinburgh for a few days.

I used to enjoy the odd McDonald's but now its a rarity for me, I actually stopped allowing my children to eat it - as we seemed to be a little ill after.

Burger King for me is far better in terms of standard, I really enjoy having a burger there and the chips are also the best available from fast food joints. KFC is enjoyable but very inconsistent these days, whereas I once went mad for their popcorn chicken, I now despise it and often offload onto my better half @cheeky~k8.

I prefer eating at food stalls, especially those that sell the six inch pizzas.

I'm also a big fan of old fashioned cafe's but in Nottingham there aren't many that don't just focus on tea or coffee (are they really cafe's?) Want a slice of cake with your drink? That's not a cafe to me.

where is your favourite?

the thing about fast food junkies, its just the easy answer to please people. i feel sick seeing large families eating large quantities of food, its just not healthy but there are a lot of lazy people these days.

I used to have to the odd happy meal at McD's, mostly when out with the grandchildren, but then began reading about how they bleach the meat for the burgers, so don't bother know, just have a bag of fries n maybe a wrap. Much prefer a home cooked meal with fresh veg from hubbys allotment.

I quite like Burger King, and fish & chips, but I try to steer clear of fast food when I can. I feel filthy after eating it - not really the guilt of having eaten something bad, but just sluggish and almost poisoned. I've had to clean up my diet because, at my advanced age and years of excess, my body's just like "no mate".
