Morning all, it’s a bright sunny one so far but looks like thunder storms are forecast for later, I’m hoping to mow the lawn before we get any rain.

After looking after our two boisterous grandsons for a week we are relaxing a bit now, they’ve been very good but it’s still exhausting. A BBQ at our son’s Later should be good so I hope it’s dry for that.

Whats everyone up to today? Anything special planned.

Yes @UnitedPie I quite enjoyed the game and the better team on the day won. @GrannyPie amused herself doing cross stitching but kept dozing off

Most definitely shame Shrewsbury couldn’t find a way back but best team won on the day. Ah bless her I know she has always loved cross stitching

Well the bbq went well we’ve had a short sharp shower just as we were about to start but it didn’t last long and it was dry for the rest of the evening, it wouldn’t have mattered anyway our son is an expert at barbecuing in pouring rain, I’ve got a picture of him somewhere holding a parasol in one hand and bbq tongs in another and trying to keep torrential rain off the steaks he was cooking on holiday in Spain, we were watching from the comfort of our mobile home. :joker:

Morning all, another day another dollar. Bank Holiday Monday, I’ve not got a lot planned apart from preparing for our holiday in France, I will be watching the playoff final though and wishing it was us.

Whats everyone got planned?

Morning young man, hand sifting 4 tonnes of soil as I try to get my garden into some sort of order, moved in last April and tbh we knew it was bad but just did not realise just how bad, I've already get rid tid of 2 x 8yd skips worth of stones and general crap but have another 2 skips full at least before I can think about taking he hedges out and putting a new pathway down.

The hedge is 27 metres long x 1.5 metres wide. I'll have a brilliant garden when its done though

You'll probably have a bad back too @Northants Pie, I tell everyone my garden is for wildlife, that way I can let it go to rack and ruin but take the high moral ground because I'm helping nature. :joker:

I'll be needing some of your deep heat that guaranteed!! :joker:

I've got two 6ft x 8ft metal goal posts for my lad so going for a proper pitch, I will be putting 20ft nets up around the garden fence though in case he tries to copy last seasons tactics......

Good morning we are still in France, it’s a cloudy one this morning, I’m going to pop down to the shop for my morning croissants and baguette soon but I thought I’d pop in and see how everyone is doing.

Had a great day yesterday we had a trip to Quiberon which is on a peninsular and is a little fishing town with a lovely harbour and beach, not an arcade, fish and chip shop or fairground ride in sight. There were some lovely quayside restaurants and we did consider having lunch at one of them but it was mainly sea food and the menus we hard to understand, we didn’t fancy the waiter turning up with a plateful of things with eyes, legs and claws plus a nutcracker to get in to the meat. :joker:

The people are very friendly and welcoming, there are British flags flying at hotels and resorts in spite of the Brexit vote, which is really nice to see, I do feel ashamed of what is going on politically in our country, I hope Brits will still be welcomed in Europe after we leave.

Right off to fetch those croissants for my breakfast and fill my ever expanding stomach.

Well, the holiday is almost over, we’ve moved to another site nearer the port ready to come home, sadly there is a very weak phone signal so I’ve not been able to join in the discussions lately. We’re heading back home tomorrow just in time for the World Cup. YAY. COME ON ENGLAND!!

Coming home after a nice holiday is horrible especially when Notts are not doing well, at least you have the pre season to look forward too.

Oh oh oh ohhhhh, everywhere where we go, watching super County putting on a show!

Well good morning all, it’s a bright sunny morning here, I am back home after a 12 hour journey yesterday, admittedly 8 hours was spent relaxing on the ferry so not as bad as it sounds. We threw everything out of the car and into the hall, then went straight to bed, so a lot of unpacking to do and washing.

Looking forward to getting back up to speed on here and watching the World Cup, it was a great holiday but “Gee but it’s good to be back home” as Simon and Garfunkel sang.

Welcome home you old bugger.

Why thank you young man.

Well I haven't done one of my ramblings for a while so I thought I'd pop down a few thoughts, feel free to ignore.

We had a little walk up to the shops this morning its a short walk to our town centre from our house, it's blooming warm and Mrs. Big Tone's knee is playing her up so she walked back on her own, I had a brisk power walk down to the cemetery where our son's grave is, he is right behind his Grandma and Grandad's grave (my mam and dad), I had a few words with him, told him he's a prat and he should be here enjoying this lovely weather but thought he might be a little annoyed at that so I told him I loved him too, he's our prat and we love him. :joker: I talk to him out loud, there's no one around so nobody thinks I'm mad or anything it's just a bit of a comfort for me.

I carried on my brisk power walk up to the park which was slightly up hill so made me puff a bit in this weather, it was nice to see the toddlers out this their mum's and grandparents running about on the park in the sunshine, I must say this summer is shaping up to be a good one.

I got back home and checked facebook and a sad memory popped up, two years ago we were camping in the Lake district and my niece and her husband who were in this country from Canada came to see us on the campsite, I asked someone to take a picture of us all standing at the side of a lake. Little did we know that my niece's husband John who was a policeman in Canada would be shot dead shortly after they got back home, he was trying to arrest someone who had stolen a car. He lost his life for a bloody stolen car! Life is so cruel. The picture memory that came up of us all enjoying the day together reminded me of how fragile life is and to enjoy every minute because you never know whats round the corner.

There you are, if you've bothered to read my morning ramble I'm sure you are cheered up no end. :joker:

Sorry folks I'll try to be a bit more positive in my next ramble. Enjoy your day whatever you are doing.
