Charlie Slater

Charlie Slater has said he has enjoyed his first season as County’s official radio commentator. And that his time working with Colin slater was nothing short of brilliant and enjoyed there Grimsby fish and chips. Thoughts guys on his debut season ?

Excellent. Radio Nottingham had to make the jump at some point and last season felt right. Charlie is passionate, funny and his commentary is alive. His rapport with Stall is good, like Yates and Colin before them.

I admit I miss uncle Colin but the time was right for him to step down, the banter between Stallard and Charlie Slater is good and they do make listening to the match enjoyable.

i miss colin slater myself.

charlie does a good job and despite him repeating things unrelated to the game, i think he does a great job. hes passionate and clear, you know whats generally happening. i think he will only get better with more experience, im pleased he got it over anyone else.

He's got a good radio voice.

Following games on the radio is easy enough, I don't listen to him often due to being at the games but I have been impressed. I think it will make a huge difference for the younger fans to feel they can relate to someone younger. I do miss Colin Slater, especially the stats and history that he would come out with!

I like both Charlie and Colin, yet we do seem more modern and trendier now.

I mean no disrespect to Colin Slater, he should be more than aware how much I think of him and the fact he recalls things about Notts so well is amazing. He doesn't need prompting with any of the information he relays, he just knows it! Charlie on the other hand keeps with the games and, for his first season I think he did well. Naturally he will improve and hopefully on rainy nights he won't talk more about that than the game (we knew it was slinging down Charlie). ;)

This is a hard one as I’ve been a Colin Slater fan for many years he was the voice of my Saturday afternoon while kicking a ball around. I’ve different things Charlie I’ve only heard him a few times he’s no uncle Colin but it’s great that he spent time with Colin Slater before he retired. I’m glad he enjoyed his first season .. I guess it’s safe to say the new generation/era has begun

You’ve got to respect Colin for the facts and figures that he can reel off seemingly effortless, at his age he is amazing but that has come with experience of watching Notts for decades, I don’t suppose Charlie will spend that long commentating on Notts and neither will anyone else so in that respect there will never be another Colin Slater.

His first season was good, but this season he should focus on avoiding cliche comments or asking the same question. He's a former weatherman so he will continue to let us know it's raining but the way he throws certain sentences out does make you want to scream at the radio.

I actually preferred Colin Slater, his voice soothed my ears and reminded me of listening to my grandfather.

Oh oh oh ohhhhh, everywhere where we go, watching super County putting on a show!

I think younger fans like myself will respect Colin Slater but appreciate someone more in tune with how the modern game is developing. Both have their advantages but I do like listening to Charlie a lot more because I can relate to him.
