If you learn something from every game, there shall come a point in time, when you should never lose... Jimmy Sirrel

As a life long supporter 67 years, they was the best passing team i have ever seen play in the black and white shirt, with my all time favourite player Iian McCulloch (remember his goal versus Villa away), those were the days eh.

agree @macpie, Sirrel with Wilko installing  a passing philosophy combined with work rate

I would like to see Nolan play with a sweeper, Hewitt is the natural thought for this but lacks the passing ability needed

I think this is the squad that my dad has a sticker book of the old first division teams.

Iian McCulloch

I might be corrected but Iian was a winger right?

The squad from the early 80's are absolute legends and, the squad was filled with players even I look fondly back on. Obviously it's before my time but I have heard many stories over the years about former players. I would have enjoyed seeing them play back in the day.

@Andy Black and @stewartpot have told me things about Iain McCulloch, along with my grandfather.

I believe I had met him twice also.

I echo this comment, the fluid passing from this team was a joy to watch.

One of the best Notts squads I have seen play together, a squad full of men and great footballers.

When people ask what 'American Pie' is about, they're missing the point. The song isn't about the lines themselves - it's about what is between the lines. The song is about what isn't there.

Way, way, way before my time but its an interesting era with the club getting several promotion near to this time. It sounds like Notts had a very good squad back then too.

"Strive not to be a success, but rather to be of value."

I think the majority of young fans would have liked to see Notts taking on the very best teams in the league, I've seen footage before and Notts played with a lot of pace. I think Notts was also one of few teams that gave black players a chance.

Oh oh oh ohhhhh, everywhere where we go, watching super County putting on a show!
