Your top three sitcoms

Name your top three sitcoms and why you have chosen them?

When people ask what 'American Pie' is about, they're missing the point. The song isn't about the lines themselves - it's about what is between the lines. The song is about what isn't there.

Don McLean

This question isn't easy at all, I suspect both @super_ram and @Magic magpie would find it even more difficult to answer. However, I chosen the sitcoms I rated that I got the most enjoyment out of watching.

1. Open All Hours

I loved this as a kid, I still do now. I know people are unhappy with the 'Still Open All Hours' sequel but I like it. Ronnie Barker and David Jason are legends, without Ronnie there would be no 'Only Fools and Horses' - well at least not with David Jason starring in it. David has spoken several times to the media about how much Ronnie guided him. Both shows are very funny and I'm pleased its continued.

2, Last of the Summer Wine

Some might assume that this wouldn't be popular with children or young adults, yet I was lost when it was cancelled. It was very upsetting to see beloved cast members pass on during the shows run but I do feel they did well to keep it alive. Yes, Compo was missed and slowly as most of the main cast died - they became missed but I always felt it was funny. I imagine myself to adventures like them when I am older.

Don't get any ideas @Fan of Big Tone and Super Ram. ;)

3. Some Mothers Do 'Ave 'Em

Comedy classic this, just the stories and adventures make it stand out. I don't think there's a sitcom which has actually made me laugh so consistently that it reduces me to tears. I think this would be much higher if the sitcom had lasted beyond three series. It's just very funny, unlike most sitcoms the stories gets Frank out meeting new people and causing mayhem wherever he goes. It's a superb sitcom and I didn't release there was a Sport Relief sketch sketch.

My top three would be

1. Only Fools and Horses

2. Fawlty Towers

3. Dad’s Army

All three are timeless and I still enjoy watching them today, classics all of them.

Regarding Last of the Summer Wine me and @super_ram could do a good remake, @GrannyPie could be Nora Batty, Super Ram would obviously be Compo, I’d be the intelligent one (can’t remember his name, Cleggy?) so we need one other, any takers? :joker:

1. two pints of larger and a packet of crisps

crude and laddish but a great sitcom.

2. the vicar of dibley

i still laugh at this now, its just very funny and features a wacky cast.

3. the royale family

i enjoyed this a lot back in the day, it was just like every ones family and the christmas specials used to make the day much better.

Oh yes, I’d forgotten about The Royal Family, that was another great one.

Careful @Fan of Big Tone, unlike Nora Batty and her sweeping brush @GrannyPie has her walking sticks-no soft end on them!

I see you @Fan of Big Tone as Wesley Pegden tinkering with your motorhome  and Edie(Thora Hird) keeping you in your place(I'm sure Mrs @Fan of Big Toneis nothing like  her though.
