Are there similarities in what Harry Kewell must do now to what Kevin Nolan did?

Both managers took charge of Notts during a difficult period, neither had the luxury of being appointed to a club that was winning games or playing all that well. I feel on paper Kevin Nolan had the much weaker squad and his signings although more experienced at first, it gave Notts what they lacked.

Harry Kewell has inherited a good squad, albeit playing poorly and way out of form.

Yet on paper the squad looks capable of promotion, some may not agree now in hindsight but not many questioned things when the signings had been made.

My question is are there similarities in what Harry Kewell must do now to what Kevin Nolan did?

When people ask what 'American Pie' is about, they're missing the point. The song isn't about the lines themselves - it's about what is between the lines. The song is about what isn't there.

Very similar in that box are inexperienced.

I think things will take Harry Kewell a lot more time to fix, whatever Kevin Nolan did it had an instant effect and things looked good. I don't know why this Notts squad can't get the balance in games right or as to why we have lost so many games but it needs to be resolved.

I think Kevin Nolan looked more like a to-do type of manager.

Both are in a similar situation but when it comes to man management they are both completely different. Nolan did need to Paul Hart to move the club forward, something is draining the players confidence.

Only in the situation.

They are completely different as people and as managers in my opinion. Harry Kewell defended the players today, he had to do this due to confidence but he should have said what he felt. Certain players are letting the club and fans down.

Both are ex Premier League Players.

Both are rookies in management.

Both have saved teams from relegation.

Both have similar ideas about coaching.

Both refuse to drop out of form players.

There's so many things that makes them similar, the issue is at the same time they're different. I think the January window will see movement or further implications. I'd like to think Harry Kewell will lead us forward but things seem to be getting worse.

Home games may save us, and that's a big maybe.

This is pretty spot on IMO.

I think Harry Kewell needs to rotate the squad a little and find a formation that works, it's good he's willing to change during games but he needs to know what works sooner than after the point it fails.

Oh oh oh ohhhhh, everywhere where we go, watching super County putting on a show!

The similarities will change when we see which direct Harry Kewell decides to take this squad, if he pulls Notts out of this it should reveal much more - if not, they could be like for like.

However, I would have been confident Kevin Nolan would have fixed things.

Spot on, Chris!

HOWEVER, I don't know how much of a difference Paul Hart will make to Kewell being able to 'just Coach' the side, rather than getting into all of the other intricacies of the job; nor indeed, what help Hart might be to the Coach/Team.

I remain extremely concerned at the number of injuries the players are getting in training which in turn, brings with it, the Gaffer being incapable of choosing the best team possible to get us out of our current predicament.

Additionally, I remain equally concerned that the players may now have a 'losing mindset' as confidence is clearly, so low, and that they may be in need of psychological help to get them over this! I know we used to have a full team of people to deal with all of this, but am unsure if they are still retained by the club?

I think both shows similar management styles despite Nolan being more hands on.

Kewell is more practical with coaching, whereas KN just wanted to control his own future. Its a shame the players have let him down, I don't think there is too many similarities but there are some.

There are handful of similarities as pointed out by others, however I would hope that they're completely different managers. Kewell has to be better than Nolan otherwise what was the point in taking him on?
