Sam Osborne departs

Featured Replies

I wish Sam Osborne all the very best, he needs and deserves more game time. It’s another knock to aspiring academy players, but only a negative thing for the club.

Ozzy is clearly ready and good enough. His deal should’ve been dealt with before it expired too, but it means Notts needs to find suitable replacement now.

I hope he secures first team opportunities elsewhere.

This is a shame, but understandable from Ozzy's point of view. No doubt there are other clubs offering him a place in the regular first 11, something we couldn't really promise him. Good luck to him. Wonder if he'll pop up at Eastleigh alongside Bird?

This is a hard one because he had potential and I understand why he left but in the present moment was he gonna get any game time? We can't wait on players to be ready at this moment. I do however believe he could of offered us something even if off the bench or now and again matches

i find it hard to understand because notts should be paving the way for youngsters to grow. instead season after season, we either lose them or they end up being released. i know some wont be proven to be a mistake, yet there is a growing number of players who we should have given more time. sam osborne did well when he played, he would only get better. if the club truly aims to have its own academy players in and around their first team, they need to get players like ozzy in more.

experience is everything, so to lose someone other young players might look up to and want to be better themselves just to get in the side. it just seems like a bigger loss.

the club want to trade players with experience? there is more to be made from selling good young players. you can build squads around them if you coach, give confidence and push them forward.

I think it's a good move for him, as if he gets regular playing time he should improve a lot over the next 2/3 years. It would be nice to see him making the step up to the Football League, it's just a shame we couldn't work out a way to give him that important game time in order to gain experience.

Good luck to him. At his age he needs to be playing games and Leamington is a good place for him to do that. It may also help him ascend the leagues if he catches the eye. It worked for Colby Bishop and Josh March

Good luck to him, if he gets played he should go far. He's almost guaranteed 70% more game time away from Notts.

Fingers crossed the move works out for him.

It's annoying, but I wish him well.

Notts could make more money on reselling their own academy players, if only they would play them.
