First team coach role

Very intriguing this. Looks like we are looking even further into key match details and how we can get better in every part of the pitch. Even the smaller, finer details

Imagine if Notts, had a defensive and attacking minded coach.

The role would be ideal for Lee Hughes and a reason to get back Mike Edwards.

I think having a strong coaching squad at this level does have its benefits, surely the club will have an idea who they'd like to bring into the fold?

Has someone left the coaching team? Extending it at this level doesn't seem to be our biggest priority I feel.

So it’s not for an attacking/defending coach but for set-pieces and re-starts; including, thrown-ins, corners, free-kicks, goal kicks and kick-offs (I could do that bit!). And opposition analysis off the pitch.

I thought our set-pieces (in an attacking sense) have been pretty dangerous since IB came in. We scored quite a few, yes maybe we need a re-think for defending set-pieces but if we come up against a team with a load of 6ft + players and some of our players marking them are 5ft 9' or whatever you’re just naturally at a disadvantage.

I’ll be interested to see if a new coach can make a big difference here, and therefore if it's really worth it.

I don't think any coaching staff member has left, the club will want to strengthen up the coaching side a little more. I see no harm in that.

Provided the coach is knowledgable and can help the squad throughout, I am all welcoming to the idea.

An outfield coach would strengthen the team, it also gives IB some additional help.

i think its a good thing, if the coach is responsible for set pieces i am sure they would have input in other areas.

would it not make sense to look at a player who has retired from playing with us?

It will give the preparation more focus in training and leading into games, sounds like something worthy of investigating further. I just hope the club takes someone on that adds strength to the coaching and not just someone who wants to get into football.

Experience is important I feel.
