  2. Grimsby have more reasons to be up for the game. I don’t say this to be negative, but with their start to the season, having won and playing a nearby rival, one they have a history of beating, I am more concerned that we could have a setback. If Notts can end the first half 0-0, I would be happier knowing that we could make something of the game. If we concede or narrowly lead, then I think it will be quite open. I can see them forcing Notts out of the habit by making us attack the KOP in the first half too.

  4. 4-3-3 Formation GK: Steve Cherry RB: Steve Finnan CB: Michael Johnson CB: Shaun Murphy LB: Ian Baraclough CM: Gary Mills CM: Phil Turner CM: Neal Bishop RW: Paul Heffernan LW: Enzio Boldewijn ST: Tony Hateley I’ve tried to pick some players who aren’t the usual choices. I thought about their height, speed, and skills. This might not be the most logical or memorable group of players, but I believe they would win games if they were in their prime and playing for Notts County.
  5. I love David McGoldrick. He’s one of our own, and I’m glad he’s come back. The earlier part of last season, he was on fire, and I would love to see more of that form. This season, he has done well, but you can see he’s more of an impact player at this stage of his career. He will get goals, but I wouldn’t rush to start him over the likes of Jatta.
  6. Good preview. It might be unpopular for me to say this, but David McGoldrick’s best position is on the bench. I fully expect him to start cup games and some matches where we can afford to give him a chance. I just wouldn’t in a game like Grimsby. Despite his experience, he has little speed, and if we rely on him, he will burn out fast. He’s a good player, but part of the issue last season was caused by him burning out and being tired. He’d make a bigger impact coming off the bench.
  7. Looking forward to seeing what Notts County brings to the table against Fleetwood Town. Our season’s start has been less than ideal, with a mix of a hard-fought draw and a disappointing League Cup exit. However, playing at Meadow Lane in front of a near-capacity crowd could be the turning point. We have potential stars in the making, and now is the time for them to shine. Fleetwood's away form isn't the best, giving us an advantage. Alex Bass in goal has been superb, and with stronger defensive tactics, we can avoid conceding sloppy goals. Here’s hoping for a solid performance, securing three points, and giving our fans something to cheer about!
  8. Stall makes some excellent points about the match against Shrewsbury. Although it was disappointing to lose on penalties, there were a lot of positives to take away. Our team showed great character and resilience, especially in holding their own against a higher-division side for the full 90 minutes. The first half performance was particularly impressive, and while the second half had its challenges, it’s clear there’s a lot to build on. Stallard’s analysis of the tactical decisions, particularly the substitutions, provides valuable insight.
  9. Simply gutting to lose on penalties after such a strong first half. Notts were dominant, and it's a shame we couldn't hold onto the lead. Stuart Maynard’s admission of defensive errors is important; recognising and working on these will make us stronger. Shrewsbury’s comeback was inspired, and it reminds us how quickly games can turn. The penalty shoot-out is always unpredictable, and unfortunately, luck was against us. Nonetheless, there are positives to take.
  10. I hope we make better use of possession this season than we did last year. At times, it felt like we ran out of ideas, but this has noticeably improved in pre-season. If we hit the target, the goals should come, and I’m hopeful we’ll be much stronger in defence. With Alex Bass and the new defenders, we have more depth at the back, so I’m optimistic that we won’t concede as often. I don’t think Notts will be much different in other areas, just more organised and effective.
  11. None of the kits are as good as they could be, but they’re decent enough. The away kit isn't anything special, very simple, but that can be a good thing. In poor weather, at least we should be able to spot our players clearly when playing away. I’m not sure why the club always has to be so slow in releasing it.
  12. I initially thought Notts began their recruitment well, but we've taken a few steps back with some of the departures. A solid addition or two could help, but seeing how other teams have strengthened, it’s clear there’s strong competition. I’m not convinced Doncaster will make the automatic spots or even the playoffs. Tranmere and Swindon could be outside bets to push for the top places.
  13. Hi @ARLukomski, I just wanted to say thank you for sharing your journey with us. It takes a lot of courage to open up about your struggles. Your videos have always felt genuine and that's what makes them special. It's normal to feel under pressure, especially when comparing yourself to others. What matters most is your happiness and well-being. If doing these videos is no longer bringing you joy, maybe it's time to take a break. But remember, your worth isn't tied to your content, you have already achieved a lot! Whatever decision you make, just know that your supporters appreciate and care for you.
  14. The arrival of a new kitman sounds intriguing. It’s challenging to stay up-to-date with the staffing at Notts. Only coaching roles get reported on when changes are made, and even then, some go under the radar. Welcome, Ewan Coleman.
  15. Cater Foxe, what an interesting name! Welcome to Meadow Lane! Enjoy your time at Notts County and use it to push yourself.
  16. It’s delightful to see the beginning of a career for a young player. Signing a professional contract must be a dream come true, and it would be lovely to see him do well, even if he just passes through Notts. I’d like to see a larger squad with more depth. In time, it would be nice to see players like James Sanderson, Ryley Reynolds, and others, but this may take time and seasons for them to fully blossom into regular starters, if the club could be bold enough to provide that opportunity. This doesn’t mean I wouldn’t want them to get game time. Having a larger squad simply means you have cover and players who can rotate, and I do think there’s room for a few more signings.
  17. John Bostock quickly missed partnering with Matt Palmer. I think the arrival of Scott Robertson has the club thinking that this duo should make their mark in the central areas of our midfield. I believe Robertson might be played in a more defensive role when Palmer returns to regular play. This leaves the club needing to find another defensive midfielder, but I don’t think Bostock would want to be a benchwarmer or an occasional player. We need to find someone who can push to be exactly that, which I don’t think Bostock would be again, considering how poorly his season ended last year.
  18. I didn’t watch the match and this is the first I’ve heard of it, but South American teams do have fans who can get a bit wild if they feel cheated. I find it ironic that Argentina feels hard done by, considering they have cheated multiple times in major international competitions. So, a decision didn’t go their way; they should move on and accept it. I suspected that Spain’s second goal might have been offside in the Euro 2024 final, but I won’t lose sleep over it.
  19. I hope that we transition to a different style of head coach, specifically someone with more league experience, if and when Stuart Maynard departs. I have nothing but respect for Luke Williams’ tenure at Notts; he was a brilliant person to listen to. However, we need to move on from the past. If he becomes available when Notts is seeking a new head coach, I hope they choose differently and opt for someone who has enjoyed multiple promotions in the EFL.

  22. It’s always enjoyable to see how Notts measures up against an international team, especially in a friendly match. The relaxed atmosphere allows the players to perform without any pressure. They can simply savour the event, which hopefully translates into a strong team performance. The fans who can attend are indeed fortunate.
  23. It’s a seasonal loan, not a permanent agreement. If he performs well, his value might exceed what teams in the lower half of League One can afford. Overall, it’s a promising signing.
  24. The decision to sign Jatta when Notts did last season provides him with ample time to acclimate to life in England and adapt to the dynamics of League Two. He appears to be a proficient finisher who understands the game well and knows precisely where to position himself. If he gets more playtime this season, his performance statistics should be impressive.
  25. My sympathies are with Crawley Town and their supporters. It’s common for teams to lose players after a promotion, but this is their first promotion in a while, and it’s always ambitious to aim for a repeat of the previous season’s success. I suspect they might face difficulties, but I hope their new signings will help mitigate the impact of losing players.
