Centre-Back recommendations Notts 2024/25 transfer window
Just some things to consider: - Shelbourne are challenging for the title. They don't need to sell. They'll be strengthening in the Summer. - Derry are also challenging for the title. They will be playing in Europe. - St. Pats just sacked their manager. They will be playing in Europe. They are under performing this season. They could be persuaded to part with some of their squad.

League 2 Playoffs
MK Dons vs Crawley Town Crewe vs Doncaster On paper, MK Dons would be clear favourites but this is football. Doncaster have gone from relegation contenders to the playoffs after an incredible run of form. Crewe and Crawley are balanced sides and could easily win promotion. My prediction is Doncaster to beat MK Dons in the final.

Match Discussion: Game 46 - The Green (A)
One word. Woeful. Another mistake leading to a goal. Also not scoring against the bottom side in the league. We lost 3 out of 4 to the relegated sides. This Summer is massive. We have to get the recruitment right.

Match Discussion: Game 46 - The Green (A)
FGR's relegation is a big set back for their owner's plans. Their new wooden stadium is being constructed with league football in mind. You'd wonder what their budget will be in the NL. With the right signings, they should push for promotion. The NL is wide open next season. It feels like the season has flown by. It certainly hasn't been boring. Goals flying in all over the place. A defence that would give you high blood pressure. I'm looking forward to a trip to Carlisle next season. The castle, the cathedral and the football. Heaven......oh yeah, I think we'll win tomorrow......

Centre Backs for Notts this summer?
We know the style of football is not going to change so the right CBs are essential. I'll admit I'm worried about the future. Recruitment has to be spot on in the Summer. If we do lose Langstaff, then that money needs to go towards the best CB that money can buy.

Match Discussion: Game 45 - The U's (H)
I think he'll go to Sunderland. He reminds me of Jamie Vardy in his prime. I think he'll play in the Premiership in the future, that's how highly I rate him. He's too good for League Two.

Match Discussion: Game 45 - The U's (H)
A win is a win. I'd be shocked if Langstaff was here next season. He's an incredible finisher. Some team are going to make a move for him.

FA Cup Replays to be Scrapped.
The 4 from the EPL were opposed to this but were completely ignored by the FA and PL representatives. It seems that not all PL teams were even aware this was on the table. It's the elite clubs once again who are dictating FA policy. Replays up to the 3rd round should be permitted. No question. After that the FA have to make a convincing case as to why they aren't in favour of replays. They haven't as of yet.

Match Discussion: Game 45 - The U's (H)
Obviously I want Notts to win but if Colchester win, at least it relegates Sutton. That's a bonus in my book. The 2 least likeable sides in the division going down? I'd be OK with that. OK, FGR aren't too bad but their owner is a bit of a tool.....

Match Discussion: Game 29 - The Hatters (H)
The subs made a big difference but the damage was done in the first half. You can't concede 85 goals and expect to challenge for promotion. Stockport have conceded 44. Looks like Stockport are enjoying their night. Well deserved.
-
Match Discussion: Game 29 - The Hatters (H)
Stockport 3 up at half time. A stroll in the park. Notts have been poor. Individual mistakes again.
-
Match Discussion: Game 29 - The Hatters (H)
Stockport can win the league tomorrow night. I'd prefer if they didn't win the league win at ML, nothing against Stockport, they deserve to be champions but not on our watch please! It's a proper test for us. One we are more than capable of passing.
-
Match Discussion: Game 44 - The Saddlers (A)
Great goal by Nemane. 3 points on the road is not to sniffed at. It's just a pity we are out of playoff contention. It wouldn't have taken a whole lot to be in contention but that ship has sailed....
-
Match Discussion: Game 44 - The Saddlers (A)
Walsall ran into an in form Doncaster Rovers and came off second best on Tuesday. Walsall are a decent side. They took their chances when they beat us at ML in December. It will be a tough game. A point would be a good result. There's no reason why we can't go there and win. Jatta has to start. He has been an excellent addition.
-
Match Discussion: Game 43 - Sulphurites (H)
A well deserved victory against a side who were in form. Pity that's there's nothing left to play for. I suppose we can always laugh at Mansfield......
-
Match Discussion: Game 43 - Sulphurites (H)
Harrogate are on a 5 match unbeaten run. They are 4 points off the playoffs. They hammered Gillingham 5-1 in their last game. Notts were much improved against MK Dons but there are still areas where things can be much better. I don't we are capable of defending so again we may as well go for it.
-
Match Discussion: Game 42 - The Dons (H)
2-2 now. A point would be most welcome but 3 points would be better!
-
Match Discussion: Game 42 - The Dons (H)
You would expect a response from the players today. Friday was the low point of the season so far. MK Dons are pushing for automatic promotion but have been inconsistent of late. They lost their 2 previous away games. 1-0 to Grimsby. 5-0 to Stockport. The atmosphere today could turn toxic very quickly. You'd be hoping for an early goal and a positive atmosphere.

Match Discussion: Game 41 - The Robins (A)
Swindon can't defend crosses. Our best header of a ball sits on the bench for 77 minutes. Comes on, scores from a header. Taking off the most creative option we have. Mind boggling. Taxi for SM I'm afraid.
-
Match Discussion: Game 41 - The Robins (A)
74% possession. Robertson hits the post with a back pass. Drinan couldn't believe his luck. We are a disaster at the moment. We need leadership.
-
Match Discussion: Game 41 - The Robins (A)
Swindon are on a 4 game winless streak. Luckily for them, their next game is against the side with the worst record in 2024! Seriously though, it's 2 teams desperate for a win. Notts are probably in a better place so I think we will be celebrating 3 points, if not, Monday will be interesting.....
-
Match Discussion: Game 40 - The Ammies (H)
I try not to think too far ahead but I'm already worried about next season, especially if SM is in charge and Langstaff leaves. We could be staring down the barrel of relegation yet again. It's not an easy fix, but it isn't an impossible task. If the defence is sorted, we are half way there. It has to be the number 1 priority, goalkeeper included. I'd rather SM is let go at the end of the season so he has no input for next season. Harsh? Absolutely but we cannot go back to the NL. No way.
-
Match Discussion: Game 40 - The Ammies (H)
Salford deserved their win but that first goal......not sure what Cameron thought he was doing, a half arsed effort at a tackle. 2 shots on target for Notts. Not enough to win a game.
-
Match Discussion: Game 40 - The Ammies (H)
Our recent run and Salford's recent run are quite similar. Both clubs have picked up 4 points after a run of defeats. Jatta's form could be the difference here. Plenty of space to get crosses in and he's an out ball for the defence when needed. It would be nice to have something to play for rather than the season fizzling out. 2-1 win is my prediction.

Match Discussion: Game 36 - The Bantams (A)
A last word on the pitch. When Jatta is celebrating his first goal, bits of the surface were flying around his ankles. You couldn't call it turf. It was more like clay. I doubt there's much drainage there. When I was in France visiting the WW1 battlefields, I picked up some soil. It was clay. Exactly like Bradford's surface. Maybe I'm too obsessed with soil but I put that down to being Irish, land and soil are engrained in our DNA.
